Geography Exam Revision SCALE: The scale on a map is a statement of the relationship or ratio between a linear measurement on a map and the real distance on the earth’s surface. Map Scales can be expressed in 3 ways: 1. As a Statement: 1 centimeter (on a map) represents 100 000 centimeters (in real life) or 1 centimeter represents 1 Kilometer. 2.
