The complexity
of the Kurdish
conflict is remarkable, since there are many territories
whose control is disputed.
Kurdistan owns an astonishing variety of landscapes.

nationalist party. He is
currently inprisioned.
Kurdistan's wealth of high-grade pasture lands has long made it suitable for a pastoralist economy. Even nowadays
it remains the main sector.
Petroleum refinement is easily the most valuable and developed modern industry in Kurdistan.
The third sector is largely the smallest one in the country. It is mainly made up of civil servants and bank
workers.

Mehmed Uzun is probably the most well-known Kurdish author. He was responsible
for shaping a modern Kurdish literary language. He lived in Sweden as a political
refugee for almost 30 years. He died in 2007.
Arbil is the biggest city of the Kurdish Autonomous Region, which is located in Northern Iraq and is the
only tool of self-government the Kurdish people have.

PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) is the main nationalist party, whick is currently illegal in Turkey. It has a parallel armed organisation, whick usually bears
attacks against the Turkish army and whose members we can see in this photo.
The Kurdish conflict remains forgotten by the main international organisations, even by the United
Nations.
