Genre ResearchIn this PowerPoint I am going to be researching into

four different genres of films.

Page 2: Genre research

Action Genre This genre typically has chase sequences in it, it also

generically has a Hero and Villain in it.

This sort of film is fast paced due to there being lots of camera shots involved, and very few slow paced scenes.

Most of the films have lots of different stunts in them performed by professionals, this is what keeps the audience gripped.

Most new action films now involve CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) this is because you can make other things look like they are there went they are not, such as spaceships etc…

As well as stunts and other things there is also generically a fighting scene in it as well between the Hero and Villain.

Horror Genre Horror films generically play with the emotions of the

viewers.

They also use peoples fears to their advantage to make the films what they are Horrors.

They also use supernatural beings such as the Devil etc… to make the film have another dimension, this is what helps the film better.

These are also fast paced when the killer is after the victim, but they also have another dimension such as slow paced scenes. This usually when the victim is hiding from the killer/villain and we are waiting his arrival.

There also stunts involved sometimes in this genre such as Final destination where there as stunts like on the rollercoaster etc…

Comedy Genre There are many sub categories to this genre such as Dark

comedy, Sketch etc…

Although there are many comedy films out there they will all be different in relation to what sort of comedy they use such as Dark Comedy. This will involve things like War, Terrorism, Drugs Death etc… There is also things like Sketches, this involves a small comedy driven episode that has be recorded before been broadcast.

There are hardly any stunt scenes involved in this genre, unless done for comic effect.

They also don’t change there angles of cameras and distances as often as they would in an action film.

Some comedy films do have some sort of fast paced scene in them like in Ted, where he is climbing the structure of the stadium.

War Genre Many war films feature battles of sorts whether it be on

land, water or in the air, all of this depends on what film you are making.

Many of these war films have a perspective whether it be prisoners of war or black operations, showing civilian life or just battle and struggles of the war.

Many also have a specifically created objective such as Inglorious Basterds where there is a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers hunting Nazi leaders.

Many of these also may also include CGI, as well as stunts this is to make them look more realistic.

Many of these war films include guns as well as explosions, many films do but these can be seen in most of the scenes throughout the film.
