• Rhythm and Blues, which is known as R&B, was founded in the 1940 s by the African ′American music. R&B was predominantly for the African American race. It was originally called “race music” and was usually only performed or listened to by the black race. R&B was a combination of jazz, hip hop, gospel, and the blues

Where did the genre originate from?

• R&B music originated from black Americans in the early 1940's growing from the blues meeting urban beats. By the 1970s, rhythm and blues was being used as a general comprehensive phrase to depict soul and funk. New Orleans was one of the early hotbeds of the music genre.

• When you look at how R&B used to be music wise and how it is now they are two completely different things. R&B and hip hop music today has a different toll on our generation today and also has a greater influence. In the 1950 s R&B was about good times, ′with music that had lyrics with actual meaning, content, and not just something with a good beat.

• When making my video I will take some of the conventions made in these videos. I will copy the convention of a black and white video. I like the idea od having my video in black and white this is one of the main conventions of a R&B video.
