to repeal the 3 percent cap on pensionable earnings passed at theend of last legislative session. In response to the passage of thislegislation, an online petition calling for a repeal of the 3 percentcap has been signed by more than 11,000 members. Additionally,many of you have signed paper versions of the petition.

As we transition into 2019, a new General Assembly will be swornin early in January. We have commitments from legislators thatlegislation supporting the repeal will be introduced at the start ofsession. After their swearingin, legislators will not return toSpringfield until the end of the month. This gives our members anopportunity to talk to their state senators and state representativesabout the need to support a repeal of the 3 percent provision.

Between now and the start of the new session, IEA will providetalking points and fact sheets to assist you in conversations withyour legislators.
