Babylon, Erech, Accad and Calneh. He is also associated with Asshur, Nineveh, and Assyria itself was once

the story of how God saved his grandfather Ham on the Ark. Nevertheless, Nimrod rebelled against God. Gen. 9:1 tells us “So God blessed Noah andGen. 9:1 tells us “So God blessed Noah and

his empire. He also founded other cities, too, andbecame the RULERRULER of the first empire of

post-Flood history.

Now the whole earth had one language and one speech.

V. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they

dwelt there. Shinar was the ancient name for the

territory later known as Babylonia or Chaldea V.3 Then they said to one another, "Come,

LET US make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar.

Page 25: GENESIS

The phrase “LETLET USUS” (3 times in verses 1-4)PLEASE NOTICE:PLEASE NOTICE:Nimrod’s unity was a poor SUBSTITUTESUBSTITUTE for the unitymade by Jesus Christ – (Eph. 2:13-17)They substituted BRICKBRICK for stones and ASPHALT formortar. God uses precious STONESSTONES to build His Church -(1 Pet. 2:1-10)

The phrase “LET US BUILD A CITYLET US BUILD A CITY” A city is a place where people do BUSINESSBUSINESS, like SHOPPINGSHOPPING, , BANKINGBANKING & etc.Why did Nimrod and his people build this cityWhy did Nimrod and his people build this city??1. They built a city so they would not be SCATTEREDSCATTERED over the earth - (Gen. 11:4a)2. They wanted to make a NAMENAME for themselves - (Gen. 11:4b) (This is PRIDE speaking)

Herodotus of was a Greek historian who lived in the 5th centuryBC (c. 484 BC – c. 425 BC). He informs us that “The Tower ofThe Tower of

BabelBabel” was a furlong, 220 yards or 660 feet, in width, and 660 feet height. It was of a pyramidical form, consisting of eight

square towers, gradually decreasing in width, with a winding ascent on the outside, so very broad as to allow horses and

carriages to pass each other, and even to turn.Archaeologist say the tower was probably 300 feet in height,

taller than any structure built in human history until the construction of the EIFFELEIFFEL TOWERTOWER (1,063 feet or 324 meters)

in 1889.

And the beginning of his (Nimrod)

kingdom was Babel, Erech,

Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Page 33: GENESIS

Nimrod was a rebellious leader who DEFIEDDEFIED God and sought to set up his own kingdom. Scripture says in

Gen 10:10 “And the beginning of his “KINGDOM” was Babel . . . .”Kingdom speaks of a political system over

which Nimrod would reign.During the great tribulation the Anti-Christ will reign over a political system which will ENGULFENGULF the whole world. (Rev. 17) The Babylon of OLDOLD and NEWNEW will consist of

an ECONOMIC, POLITICAL and RELIGIOUS systems.

Page 34: GENESIS

The system that will control the world during the tribulation will be a ECONOMICECONOMIC, POLITICALPOLITICAL and RELIGIOUSRELIGIOUS

system. The Ant-Christ will have full reign over this system, and will exercise his POWERPOWER WITHWITH GREATGREAT FORCEFORCE.

Page 35: GENESIS

Gen. 11:4b says, “Let us build a tower . . . “This tower would be a TEMPLETEMPLE where man could study the signs of the Zodiac for direction, rather than seeking direction from God.This religious system would GLORIFY MANGLORIFY MAN and be steeped in the occult. The Babylonian system of the end time will be a religioussystem that has a FORMFORM of Godliness – (2 Tim. 3:5) but itwill EXALTEXALT man and will be steeped in the Occult.

Page 36: GENESIS

The people who were alive at the time of the Tower of Babel were called Sumerians. They may have heard ofthe true God for Shem, but they did not follow Him. Theyworshiped FALSE GOD”S.FALSE GOD”S.FALSE GOD’S THEY WORSHIPED:FALSE GOD’S THEY WORSHIPED:1. FATHERFATHER heaven & MOTHERMOTHER earth, An and Ki. They became Anki, the highest god.2. The god of AIRAIR –3. Another main god was INANNAINANNA, who in history we probably Nimrod wife.

Page 37: GENESIS

Later in the Babylonian language, she was called Ishtar and her husband name was TammuzTammuz (Ezek. 8:14). The goddess supposedly descended in the underworld, after the women of the town wept for three days, she brought her husband back to a REBORNREBORN LIFELIFE, becoming his mother as well as his wife. This imitation religion SPREADSPREAD all over the world. The Babylonian system of false religion has come down to the present day. People worship Mother earth or believein the goddess, the Queen of heaven. This system began before the flood, was renewed at Babel, lasted all through history, and will soon come to a VIOLENTVIOLENTend like a great millstone being cast into the sea (Rev. 18:21).

Page 38: GENESIS

The Babylonian system must have been tempting so as tocause man to DISOBEYDISOBEY God. Man would WORK OUTWORK OUT his own salvation without anyrestrictions by God if he could.PLEASE NOTEPLEASE NOTE – A system that would unite cultureculture, politicspolitics, and religionreligion, sounded good to the ear, but would never work, because GODGOD would be left out.We need to make sure were not CAUGHT UPCAUGHT UP in a world system like that, because it brings dishonor to God.

Page 39: GENESIS

And the LORD said, "Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now

nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.7 "Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech."8 So

the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of allall the earth, and they ceased building the city.9 Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of allall the earth; and from there the LORD scattered

them abroad over the face of allall the earth.

We are given some insight into a great Babylonish systemthat will REACHREACH it’s pinnacle in the tribulation period -(Rev. 17&18).In Gen. 11:7 God said, Come, let Us go down and thereconfuse their language . . .” God moved in JUDGMENTJUDGMENTagainst this godless system. In the not to distant future, God will say, “Let us go down”and JUDGEJUDGE this present world’s economiceconomic, politicalpolitical, andreligiousreligious system – (Rev. 17)

Page 43: GENESIS

The early disciples realized this world was going to be condemned and therefore had no problem giving what they had for the CAUSECAUSE of Christ (Acts 2:41-27; 4:32-37)Those who held back part SUFFEREDSUFFERED (Acts 5:1-11) What are we holding back? If God called you to go and serve Him, would you go? Would you answer God’s call? With a Yes! or NO!
