Man’s Unrighteous Anger Works Sin

1. God warned Cain, but he ignored God’s warning…and killed his brother

2. OUR Unrighteous Anger is an Opportunity for Sin • God’s warnings: Eph. 4:26; Jas. 1:19-20;

Prov. 16:32; 15:1; 19:11; 19:19; 29:22• Happens often - angry words & actions

with spouses, children, co-workers, brethren

• Matthew 5:21-26

Sin Un-Repented of Leads to More Sin

1. What started out as One sin grew to Five!• Sinful offering, sinful reaction, murder,

lying, trying God• The sins became worse and harder to

repent of

2. OUR Unrepentant Sin will lead to more Sin• One sin feeds another…2 Sam. 11-12• Sins chain together… in world, & among

Christians – forsake assembly – prayer – study – service - teaching

We CAN Control Ourselves If We Choose

1. Cain Chose to Sin, and Chose to Continue to Sin• God warned him to “rule” or control

himself• God did not expect the impossible - 1

Cor. 10:13

2. It is OUR choice to Control ourselves• Biblical examples - Joshua, Job, Paul,

Jesus• MUCH secular false teaching about this

today o Can’t help it…genetics, childhood,

environment, numerous excuses…WRONG – Phil. 4:13

Nothing is Hidden from God1. Cain thought he could get away with SIN!

• Tried to cover sin - literally & figuratively• But God knew it and revealed it!

2. OUR Actions are Not Hidden and will be Revealed• Many things are done in secret because

they appear secret… money, moral choices

• All secret things will be revealed – Achan; David; Num. 32:23; 1 Tim. 5:24-25; Eccl. 12:14

Punishment for Sin will be Horrible

1. Cain’s actions cost him great suffering• Sinned repeatedly without considering

consequences• Punishment – a life of torment,

separation, fear

2. OUR unrepentant sins will receive Eternal Torment• The Rich Man found out the hard way -

Luke 16:24• Our sin will be dealt with, and we will

greatly regret our actions – Rev. 21:7-8
