Terbicip tablets (Generic Terbinafine Hydrochloride tablets) are an allylamine antifungal indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail (fungal infection of the nail) due to dermatophytes.Terbicip tablets are also used to treat Fungal infections of the skin for the treatment of tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis and yeast infections of the skin caused by the genus Candida (e.g. Candida albicans) where oral therapy is generally considered appropriate owing to the site, severity or extent of the infection.

Terbicip tablets (Generic Terbinafine Hydrochloride tablets) have to be stored at controlled room temperature i.e. from 20C to 25C (68F to 77F) with excursions permitted between 15 to 30C (59 to 86F). Store in a cool dry place.Keep this as well as all other medicines away from children and pets.

Liver failure, some times leading to liver transplant or death, has occurred with the use of oral Terbinafine HCl. Obtain pretreatment serum transaminases . Discontinue Terbicip Tablets in case liver injury develops.Taste disturbance , including taste loss , has been reported with the use of Generic Terbinafine Tablets.

Smell disturbance, including loss of smell, has been reported with the use of Terbicip Tablets. Depressive symptoms have been reported in connection with Terbinafine HCl tablets use. Stevens - Johnson syndrome , toxic epidermal necrolysis , erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, bullous dermatitis, and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome have been observed with oral Terbinafine use. If any signs or symptoms of drug reaction are observed, treatment with Terbicip Tablets should be discontinued.

Tinea pedis (interdigital, plantar/moccasin type): 2 to 6 weeks.

Tinea corporis: 4 weeks

Tinea cruris: 2 to 4 weeks

The adult dosage of Terbicip Tablets (Generic Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets) is one tablet of Terbicip 250 mg, once a day. The duration is as specified below:

Onychomycosis: The duration of treatment for most patients is between 6 weeks and 3 months.

Treatment periods of less than 3 months can be anticipated in patients with fingernail infection, toenail infection other than of the big toe, or patients of younger age.

The adult dosage of Terbicip tablets (Generic Terbinafine Hydrochloride tablets) is one tablet of Terbicip 250 mg , once a day. Complete resolution of the signs and symptoms of infection may not occur until several weeks after mycological cure.

Contraindications

Terbicip tablets are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Terbinafine Hydrochloride or any other component of this medication.

Common Terbinafine side effects occurring in 3% or more of the patients treated with Terbicip tablets include nasopharyngitis, headache, pyrexia, cough, vomiting, upper respiratory tract infection, upper abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

Terbicip (Generic Terbinafine HCl) doses of up to 5 grams (20 times the therapeutic daily dose) have been taken without inducing serious adverse reactions.The symptoms of Terbinafine overdose included nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, and headache.

Generic Terbinafine HCl Tablets During Pregnancy

Terbicip Tablets (Generic Terbinafine Hydrochloride Tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. No adverse effects were observed during Foetal toxicity and fertility studies conducted in animals. Since treatment of onychomycosis or tinea capitis can be postponed until after pregnancy is completed, it is recommended that Terbinafine treatment should not be started during pregnancy.
