• What is a music magazine? A music magazine talks about different general of music, such as classic, pop, rock, instrumental, rap. Already existing music magazine as Kerrang which is mostly rock’n’roll music, Top of the Pop, is pop music, and many more music magazines. • What content (text/copy/writing/articles/stories) would you expect to

find in a music magazine?Within a music magazine, you would find interviews, stories, articles of the most recent event is going to happen or had already happened, like a review. You could tell what type of people they interviewing by the questions they ask, e.g. how are you going to lead to your success? And, where are you going next? For example upcoming concerts, gigs, etc. In the pages, there could be advertisement of upcoming gigs, or a release of a new CD, charts, and promotions. • What images would you expect to find in a music magazine?The target audience can tell it’s a music magazine because of the main image which is the most eye catching. The main image character could be playing their musically instrument, how they dress to the type of music they are performing. Such as for classic probably a cocktail dress, for man nice expensive suits, designer brands, for rock the most hip like clothing, etc. These mostly reinforce the ideology of people, by following the conventions. Images of him/her performing on stage, singing or playing a music instrument, or signing auto graphics, also master shot of the whole group together, if it is a band. The presentation of a music magazine must match the general of music this famous idol that is chosen as the main topic. • Identify general characteristics/Features that you would expect to find

in all music magazines. Some conventions:-The main image character wears the most fashion ate cloths, as they are idols which mean what ever they wear their fans would want to wear, as they want to be like them, this shows how persuasive the media is. -The text which is presented can be slanted, but in a classic magazine it wouldn’t be as it wouldn’t look good, as it’s meant to look quite posh.-The masthead is in a bold font, the colour would be eye catching.-Colour scheme, would be quite limited, unless its rock, then it would look quite related. -Short, memorising strapline that is suitable for this music magazine.-The title is behind the main image.-Some magazine has free gifts within; make it more worth it, and more tempting.-They follow the rule of thirds, as the information is mostly on the left hand side, and the image in the centre of the 9 boxes.-A short list of summarise, what would be in the magazine.-A barcode symbol, along side the issue number and price.

• Identify the features/characteristics they all have-Masthead is behind the main image-The main image is either taken at a close-up, mid shot, master shot (for a band)-Most of the important information is places on the left hand side of the page, following the Rules of Thirds -The front cover is very colourful, and most magazine like pop, use of colour contrast-Some give free gifts, to make it more worth the price to buyers-Interesting coverlines to lures buyers, to buy the magazine and read the article inside-The masthead is in large font style, which takes up most of the top row of the Rule of Thirds

• Why are these features present on all of the magazines? Why are they important?

-Main image to show who the target audience is, so buyers know is it suitable for themselves-Pull quote, so it lures the buyers to buy the magazine because they want to read about the test it’s pulled from-The Rule of Thirds, as it makes it easier for the designer to plan where to place certain on to the cover-Barcode and issue numbers and the price, to give needed knowledge to buyers

• List 5 differences between the magazine and account (explain the reasons) for these difference:

1.) The backgrounds on music magazines are much plainer, reason being is the coverlines and masthead, main images would have already take up most of the page, and with more colour it would become confusing for readers.

2.) The colour schemes are important because if the music magazine is always uses pink and yellow, then you recognize it quite quickly when looking for it.
