Thanks to the DSC Committees’ efforts, our 75 th was celebrated by every venue. There were shooting sports of all kinds and events at the Oxford Campground, which centered more on feasting than shooting. We had a huge swap meet, so large we needed an auxiliary tent, a “had to see it” Car Show, complete with entertainment, and a Presidential Ball which included gourmet food, a live band, and was capped off by the Grand Dessert Buffet. (you can look but cannot sample those sweets on the WEB Scrap Book). In spite of a very weak State and National Economy that remained stalled, your Club continued to move forward. We will end the year with a positive balance sheet and one only needs to look around at the Capitol Improvements that continue to increase the Members Equity in your Club. The Clubhouse refresh was completed by remodeling the Restrooms and the beauty inside was extended to our refurbished entry way complete with new energy efficient doors. In keeping with the Conservation side of the DSC, all remodeling has been made so building will be more energy efficient. Each of these steps helps conserve energy and preserves our financial resources. The Range Building windows were upgraded, the floor in Sporting Clays was epoxy coated and the beach house bathrooms at Oxford were renovated which will re-open in the Spring with the start of the new Camping Season. We have a strong Board of Directors and each has worked hard to make the DSC a great Club to belong to and have unlimited opportunity to enjoy the shooting sports or the great outdoors. I personally want to thank the BOD for their support of my first year as President. With the continued support of the Board and all the DSC Members we will have another good year ahead and hope the DSC can offer you the best experience in whatever you partici- pate in. On behalf of Myself and the Board of Directors, we wish all of you good health and prosperity in 2012. Bob Savo, President DSC January 2012 Plaid & Khaki-1

Cowboy Action By Joe Lupi

Rocky River Regulators On October 2, 2011 the town of Rocky River welcomed 13 cowboys to the final Wild Bunch match for 2011. The cowboys shot 5 furious stages with multiple magazine changes and stoked the shotguns for maximum speed. When the dust settled the overall match winner and top Open shooter was Moe Gunns. The top Modern shooter was DSC’s Coyote Claxton and top Traditional shooter was DSC’s Nine Finger Bob. Shooting the only clean match was DSC’s Nine Finger Bob. October 16th was our annual Chili Cook Off cowboy shoot. Beside the “hotly” contested contest for best chili, thirty eight cowboys and cowgirls ventured out and shot 5 furious stages. When the shooting stopped and the scores were calculated the top cowboy was Faygo Kid. The top DSC finishers were J.J. Longley, Camptown and Dar B Shurshot. Shooting a clean match in October was DSC’s Camptown. Other clean match awards went to Faygo Kid, Moe Gunns, Big Bad Jim, Andy Horseurodinon, and No Name. On November 20, 2011 the town of Rocky River welcomed 42 cowboys and cowgirls from three different countries. The “international flair” for the shoot saw the countries of Canada, Australia, and the United States represented on the range. The match was shot under cool skies, some sun, and a pretty warm day for November in Michigan. Every shooter even started a stage with a 20 shot barrage from a .22 cali-ber “Gatlin” gun that was supplied by Andy Horseurodinon. When the scores were tallied the top gun title went to Deuce Stevens. Deuce was followed closely by Faygo Kid who had a clean Match. The top DSC shooter was Dar B Shureshot followed closely by DSC’s Rochester Kid. Also shooting the only other clean match for the day was DSC’s Nine Finger Bob. This was DSC’s annual November shoot that always has a traditional Thanksgiving lunch after the match. DSC’s Penny Ante out did herself by preparing a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings and dessert. It was a feast to behold. The DSC Rocky River Regulators hosted their last cowboy action match for 2011 on December 18th. Although it was cold and some light snow on the ground there was 11 hearty cowboys and one hearty cow-girl that ventured out to compete in some cowboy action shooting. After shooting 5 stages of fast and furi-ous action the overall top cowboy was Riverview Rattler. Rattler was followed closely for 2nd place by DSC’s J.J. Longley. Shooting 5 clean stages were Kentucky Drifter and DSC’s Camptown. The town of Rocky River will be idle for 2 months until March but you will still find some cowboys practicing on most Saturdays from 10am until 12pm. So if the winds not blowing and the snows not flying come on out and join us for some practice fun on Saturdays. Until March when the new cowboy shooting season starts all the cowboys and cowgirls at DSC wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

POLICE PISTOL COMBAT (PPC) Shooters, We will again have a Winter PPC League at the Detroit Sportsmen's Congress in 2012 on Wednesday nights from 6:30 pm. to approx. 9:00 pm. All shooting will be done on our Indoor Range located in the basement of the Shotgun Building on De-quindre Rd. just North of Hamlin Rd. If you have never shot PPC, come on down and check it out! The League dates will be as follows:

January 11, 18, 25 February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 March 7, 14, 21, 28 April 4, 11 PPC League Course of fire: Match 5 of the NRA course at 50 ft., using reduced B-27 targets. This is a 60 round course of fire. NRA rules allow .32 caliber or larger in a revolver and .35 caliber or larger in a pistol. Many shooters use a six shot re-volver firing .38 Specials while others use 9mm, .40, or.45 caliber semi-autos. A minimum of 4 speed-loaders or magazines are required. The shooting positions used in PPC are: standing unsupported, standing with barricade support using first the left then right hand, kneeling, sitting, and prone. NO MAGNUM OR HIGH SPEED AMMUNITION ALLOWED. EYE AND EAR PROTECTION IS MANDATORY. SAFETY RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. We will shoot a total of Twelve (12) scores, with final League standings based on the best 10 of the 12 scores. Cash awards will be given following the end of the season and will be based on any points accumulated throughout the season. We use the Lewis system to award points, so shooters of all skill levels have a chance to earn points.

League fees will be $30.00. Half of your league fees must be turned in prior to your second (2nd) score with the balance prior to you shooting your fourth (4th) score. There is a Range fee payable each week of $6.00 for all DSC League members. One dollar of this will go to the fund to cover cost of getting the impact area cleaned. Non-Members must obtain an Associate Membership for $30.00, which is good ONLY for the duration of the PPC League (14 weeks). The range fee of $6.00 must then be paid each week, as do all other League members.

Smoking of sights can be done only in an area designated by the range Officer or League Director. NO dry firing except on the firing line with the Range Officers approval. We need shooters to make this league a success. The only thing we ask is that you give us a hand in setting up and cleaning up whenever you can. This is a good opportunity to get the necessary practice needed for the upcoming PPC Matches: Taylor Pistol Club

Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Pistol Team Southwestern Oakland County FOP 128 Oakland County Sportsman’s Club Fenton Lakes Conservation Club MPCPA Indoor State Championship Matches and dates will be added or deleted as information becomes available. Please share this flyer with your shooting friends.
