GENERAL INFORMATION
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Hello friends and welcome
Our 59th Show is shaping up to be a sensational 2-day event and we are bringing some new entertainment across the border to entertain you alongside our equestrian, dog and cattle shows and more than thirty competition sections to enter so you can show off your own talent and creativity.
Our volunteer Committee team have achieved some great results in the last 12 months. We are incredibly grateful for the community support evident by the record-breaking number of patrons through the gate for our 2017 Show, which at final count was 19,000. It was a big 2 days, and I would like to extend a big thank you to the fantastic team of volunteers who operate the entry gates each year on our behalf. It’s a challenge, but you keep smiling.
Our Show is not possible without both local and interstate businesses and individuals sponsoring events and competitions, and the strong group of volunteers who work tirelessly to support the committee and provide essential services at the Show. I would like to personally thank Damien Ryan who without hesitation stepped up in my absence to host their Excellencies, Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Cosgrove, last year.
Last year we farewelled our long serving committee member Wulf Pfau who stepped down from his role as our Poulty Steward, and more recently Doc Cunningham our go to guy for all things cattle has moved on to greener pastures. We wish them both good health and good fortune, and thank them for their generous contribution and dedication to our community event.
2017 also saw the acquittal of the Northern Territory Government Infrastructure funding with monies appropriately expended towards much needed upgrades, maintenance and repairs to Show equipment and buildings to benefit all users of Blatherskite Park, and we take this opportunity to thank the Northern Territory Government for their support.
A special project this year was to give our website a fresh design and provide a site that was super easy to use with up to date content to help plan your day at the Show. You can now buy and print your tickets, enter competitions and book trade space on our website. You can also register your interest to become a volunteer at the Show or join our Committee. The website went live in February and we encourage you to take a good look at alice-springs.com.au
As we strengthen our governance and operations behind the scenes it’s our mission to become one of the best regional Shows in Australia and bring you all four corners of agriculture blended with a kaleidoscope of colour, flavours and good vibes.
We do hope you enjoy your Show!
Rosie Gibbins
President
