I General terms

1 With this general approval of the building inspection the usability respectively theapplicability of the object of approval is proved as defined by the state´s building laws.

2 When special knowledge and skills concerning the production of building material isrequired of the people handling the building project (according to § 17 section 5 of thebuilding law and its relevant state´s regulations) this knowledge and skills can also beproved by certificates of other member states of the European Union. This is also valid forcertificates in the context of agreements concerning the EEC or further bilateralagreements.

3 This general approval of the building inspection does not replace any other licenses,agreements and certificates needed for the realization of building projects.

4 This general approval of the building inspection is given irrespective of the rights of a thirdparty especially those concerning private property rights.

5 Producer and seller of the object of approval have to provide the user of the this objectof approval with copies of this general approval of the building inspection and to informthe user, that this general approval of the building inspection has to be present at thelocation of usage. This is irrespective of further terms in the section “special terms.” Ifrequested, involved authorities have to be provided with copies of this general approvalof the building inspection.

6 This general approval of the building inspection is only to be copied in whole. Anincomplete publication is subject to the agreement of Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik(DIBt). Texts and drawings of advertise-ments are to be made in accordance to thisgeneral approval of the building inspection. Translations of this general approval of thebuilding inspection have to contain the note “Vom Deutschen Institut für Bautechniknicht geprüfte Übersetzung der deutschen Originalfassung.”

7 This general approval of the building inspection is given revocably. The regulations of thisgeneral approval of the building inspection can be changed, especially when requiredby new technical knowledge.

II Special terms

1 Object of approval and field of application

The object of approval is lattice elements for the usage as crash protection and fall-guard for cars and people in multi-storey car parks. The lattice elements consist ofgalvanized lattice mats made of strength-welded steel bars including attachedconstructions (fixing flange, counter fishing plate and basset sheet), which are screw-fixed at the cross-side of the lattice mats. The lattice elements are screw-connected withthe attached constructions at the structure (e.g. rolling profiles).

The lattice elements are produced in different length or height.

This general approval of the building inspection regulates the production and usage ofthe above-mentioned lattice elements

2 Regulations for the used building products

2.1 Characteristics and compositions

2.1.1 Dimensions

The dimensions of the lattice elements, the fixing flange, the counter fishing plate, thebasset sheet and those of the screws, the screw nuts and the grommets have to be inaccordance with the description in the attachments 2 to 6. Further descriptionsconcerning the dimensions are deposited at the DIBt.

2.1.2 Materials

2.1.2.1 Lattice elements, fixing flange, counter fishing plate, basset sheet

The material used for the bars of the lattice elements is S235JRC according to DIN EN10277-2:2008-06 with the following characteristics:

- R m ≥ 580 N/mm²- R p0,2 ≥ 580 N/mm²

- - A ≥ 10 %

The material used for the fixing flange is S355MC according to DIN EN 10149-2:1995-11with the following characteristics:

- R m ≥ 510 N/mm²- R p0,2 ≥ 360 N/mm²

The material to be used for the counter fishing plate and the basset sheet is S235JRaccording to DIN EN 10025-2:2005-04.

These requirements also have to be fulfilled by the finished component in its end use.

2.1.2.2 Anchors, screw nuts, grommets

The descriptions of the material´s characteristics are deposited at the DIBt.

2.2 Corrosion protection

The terms in the corresponding technical building terms apply.

The galvanization of the lattice elements is to be done according to the descriptionsdeposited at the DIBt.

2.3 Labeling, packaging, transport

All building products needed for the lattice elements are to be delivered by theapplicant of this general approval of the building inspection.

Each producer has to label the packaging of the lattice elements mentioned inparagraph 2.1 with the German Mark of Conformity (Ü-sign) according to the conformitymark regulations of the states. The labeling is only to be done if the requirements inparagraph 2.4 are fulfilled.

Additionally, each packaging has to labeled with a label giving information about theproduction plant, the description, the geometry and the material.

2.4 Conformity mark

2.4.1 Preface

The confirmation of conformity of the building products mentioned in paragraph 2.1 withthe regulations of this general approval of the building inspection has to be madeincluding a conformity declaration by the producer for each product plant on the basisof an initial inspection by the producer with the help of a plant´s own production control.

2.4.2 Plant´s own production control

Each production plant has to set up and to put in effect a plant´s own productioncontrol. The plant´s own production control has to be done frequently by the producer.The control has to achieve that all produced building products are in accordance withthis general approval of the building inspection.

The company´s own production control should at least contain the following provisions:

- Lattice elements, fixing flange, counter fishing plate, basset sheet

The dimensions required in paragraph 2.1 have to be checked by regular measurementsin the production plant. With each material delivery the proof of the materialcharacteristics of the original material has to be given by a control certificate 3.1according to DIN EN 10204:2005-01. The conformity of the statements in the controlcertificate with the required material characteristics is to be checked.

- Galvanization of the lattice elements

The conformity of the galvanization process with the processing method stated to the DIBt is to be checked.

- Weld joints

The terms for components of class C according to DIN EN 18800-7:2008-11 respectively those of the export class EXC 2 according to DIN EN 1090-2:2008-12 apply.

The resistance spot welds (connection between longitudinal double bar and crossbar) have to have a minimal sheer force of 18.5 KN.

The results of the company´s own production control are to be recorded and analyzed.Those records have to contain at least the following:

- Description of the building product respectively the original material and the components

- Type of control or examination

- Production- and examination date of the building product respectively of the

original material or the components

- The result of the controls and examinations and a comparison of it with the

requirements

The documentation is to be deposited for at least 5 years and to be presented to the

assigned inspection agency. They have to be shown to the DIBt or to a higher building

inspection if requested.

If the control results are inadequate, the producer has to set up all required provisions to

stop the detected defects. Building products which do not fulfill the requirements are to

be handled in a way that they cannot be mistaken with accordant products. If possible

and necessary, the relevant control has to be repeated after elimination of the defect(s).

3 Terms for the layout and the measurement

In every single case, the structural safety and the transmission of the forces from the fixing

flange to the building object are to be proved by a static calculation. The concept of

verification stated in DIN 1055-100:2001-03 respectively DIN EN 1990:2010-10 in connection

with DIN EN 1990/NA:2010-12 is valid.

Concerning the structural safety, a stress of the lattice elements regarding to the

following table can be adopted:

Furthermore, a horizontal line load of qr,d = 1,0 kN/m in the height of the hand rail can be

adopted as stress.

be FR,d ≥ 50 kN.

In case there are requirements concerning the deformation respectively the bowing

under load, those have to be proved separately.

4 Terms for the execution

The constructional design of the lattice elements can be seen in the attachments 2-4.

A construction manual for the fitting of the lattice elements is to be given to the

executing company by the producer.

The screw connections have to be executed with a fastening torque of 50 Nm. The

conformity of the format of the lattice elements with the terms of this general approval of

the building inspection is to be confirmed by the executing company.

After a crash with occurring deferments of the fixing points or plastic deferments of the

mats, those have to be exchanged immediately.
