If the surface is not completely even,
grind the uneven areas and vacuum
clean it prior the final covering.
10
Ensure that the Sikafloor® Marine 18 is fully dry (water content max. 4%) before any subsequent applications of vinyl’s, coatings etc.
Procedure
Determination of the floor dryness (according to ASTM D 4263)
1. Put a PE-plastic foil of about 1 m2 on the surface of the applied floor
2. Tape the perimeter and leave for one day
The curing is complete if there is no water condensation on the foil or a visible colour difference between covered and uncovered surface.

2
Any application of edge moulding has to be done on day 1. Prime the bulkhead with Sikafloor® Marine E-43 epoxy and cast with quartz before application of edge mouldings
Edge mouldings / covings are constructed first, before the floor is laid. For covings (not full set) E-43 component (A:B): 3:1 Thixotrop. agent:Approx. 10% Coloured quartz (0.3-0.7mm): 10 times the weighted volume of Sikafloor® Marine E-43
Build up banquets round any legs, pipes etc.
Sikafloor® Marine E-43
3
After applying the edge moulding prime the deck (0.5kg/m2) using a paint roller. To provide a key for the intermediate layer cast dry quartz over the wet primer. Use 0,1kg quartz pr. m2. Must dry approx 12 hours
Intermediate layer: 6.0kg component A 2.1kg component B 8-10kg kiln dried non-coloured quartz (0.1-0.3mm) Spread the compound evenly over the deck to a depth of 2-3mm using a spreader
Perforate the surface of the compound with a spiked roller to even out any high or low spots and to release any trapped air. Allow 2-3min. for the air to escape the epoxy, cast out coloured quartz to give complete covering. Use 4kg/m2 of quartz (0.3-0.7mm)
Sikafloor® Marine E-43
4
Surface after the casted coloured quartz
Correct banquet of Sikafloor® Marine E-43 round a leg
After approx 12 hours start grinding the surface until the required level of smoothness is archived
Sikafloor® Marine E-43
5
Remove all dust and loose material with a vacuum cleaner
Mix the Sikafloor®-169 and spread the mixture of at least 1mm over the whole floor area using a roller
The final floor of Sikafloor® Marine E-43 and SikaFloor® 169 is now ready
