FOREWORDVision Marine Construction is registered and situated in the State of Qatar and is the sister company of Vision Development Company (Bahrain Grade A General Contracting, (Civil and Building) Marine Contracting, Dredging and Reclamation). Both the aforementioned companies receive management and commercial support from Vision Holding company.

The owners of Vision commenced business in dredging reclamation and marine construction, the first significant project in Bahrain was for the dredging, reclamation and marine construction work in ASRY(Arab Ship Repairing Yard) basin and other associated marine construction works.

Vision has continually expanded and accomplished international quality recognition of ISO 9001 and ISI certificates whilst developing and maintaining quality combined with efficient and cost effective performance in each and every project completed.

SERVICESTOURIST HARBOURPorto Mirabello is the only one Italian tourist and urban Marina completely in the sea, an artificial peninsula of 40.000 square meters and a water surface for 300.000 square meters. The marina, equipped with modern and efficient building facilities including a helideck, has 470 berths starting from 14 meters, berths to accomodate super yachts from 25 to 100 meters. On the wharves some single floor buildings are provided to services users. Also an internal system of transit routes, boxes and open parking for a total amount 1.300 units.

The project shall include the Port functional design and the detailed design and construction of the following:

Maritime works:u Maintenance of 539m existing breakwater, and development of it: recon-

struction of the berm at the foot of the work, reconstruction of the cover protection layer with rocks up to 5 tons, construction of the new protec-tion wall on the breakwater

u Dredging of the existing harbour basin with depth up to 7.60 meters under medium sea level, creation of the new turning basin and approach channel

Entering a Pipe for Inspection

Vision offers in-line inspection services for both onshore and offshore pipelines. Various inspection techniques are applied on-board “intelligent pigs”, which measure different integrity parameters while being pumped through the pipeline together with the product. Pipelines are inspected for metal loss (eg. internal and external corrosion), mechanical deformations and other features without interrupting the flow process.

Khalifa Bin Salman Port ProjectIn February 2002 our team managed the diving works on the Khalifa Bin Salman Port Project, the biggest project of its kind in Bahrain.

Over a three years period six highly qualified teams were involved in the construction of the six-kilometer breakwater and the two-kilometer Quay wall at depths ranging between 6 and 18 meters.

Three teams working on the breakwater were involved with lying of Geo Textile, setting of profiles and armor placement. One team was responsible for the leveling of the sea bed in preparation for the laying of 160 ton prefabricated concrete blocks. The team works in zero visibility conditions to operate a specialized hydraulic stone spreader on the ocean floor.

The fifth and sixth teams were responsible for the laying of the concrete blocks. The divers were used to guide surface cranes in lowering of the blocks onto the prepared stone bed using surface supplied air and communications.

All works have inherent health ,safety and environmental (HSE ) Hazards. The size of the equipment used and nature of the work itself impose very high risk activities that could result in severe consequences. hence it is imperative that all efforts be focused on work place safely , proper HSE plan be implemented and appropriate safe work procedures followed.

The company ‘s approach will mainly be based on the identification and control of risks and elimination of potential hazards in a planned and controlled manner. The on-site implementation of HSE policies and procedures will be monitored and reviewed on a regular planned basis to ensure the companies aims and objectives are being carried out . The following general procedures is implemented on objects.

Procedures followed at Vision:

Brief all construction personnel on the project HSE plan and Method statements and raise their awareness of the presence of high risk hazards, Encourage all to report any unsafe practices, unnoticed or unidentified hazards or any perspective vulnerability.

u Encourage teamwork and experienced employees for safe working procedure.

u Encourage and strengthen a safety oriented culture.

u Conduct appropriate induction training for all involved personnel and appoint safety and security officers to the project site.

u Emphasize importance of using appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)

u Ensure that the site safety precautions are taken and hazard control measures implemented prior to commence of activities in accordance with company procedures.

u Ensure that all machine operators and licensed, well trained and implemented the relevant manufactures requirements for safe operation and recommended maintenance practices.

u Verify that appropriate fencing, hoarding and signage are installed as required.

u Ensure that all pertinent HSE statutory regulations,by laws and Vision safety procedures and plans are followed.
