Amendment of the bilateral agreement between Norway and Poland

Attached is a notification received from Norway of a further amendment of its agreement with Poland, effective for the period 1 January 1990 to 31 December 1991.

The bilateral agreement and a previous amendment are contained in COM.TEX/SB/1400 and 1466. See also TEX.SB/1708.

Dear Mr. Ambassador,

Pursuant to Article 4:4 of the Arrangement Regarding International Trade in Textiles as extended by the 1986 Protocol, I am pleased to notify the Textiles Surveillance Body of certain amendments to the current bilateral textile agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Norway and the Government of the Republic of Poland.

According to the amendments, 4 categories previously subject to quotas have been fully liberalized. In addition the base levels for two other categories have been increased.

The amendments, which were agreed upon in Agreed Minutes dated 13 December 1989, took effect on 1 January 1990.

AGREED MINUTES

1. Delegations from the Polish People's Republic and the Kingdom

of Norway met in Warsaw on 11-13 December 1989 for consultations in

accordance with Paragraphs 19 and 15 of the Agreement relating to the

exports from the Polish People's Republic of certain textile products

for import? into Norway, signed at Oslo on 3 March 1988.

2. As a result of these consultations it was agreed to initial

the enclosed amendments to the Textile Agreement as previously

amended.

3. It was further agreed that for products covered by categories

3, 4, 6 and 8, the Polish authorities will issue a certificate of

Polish origin.

A M E N D M E N T S

to the Agreement relating to the exports from the Polish People's Republic of certain textile products

for Imports into Norway, signed in Oslo 3 March 1988

I . During consultations held in Warsaw on 11-13 December 1989 in accordance with Paragraphs 19 and 15 of the Agreement, Norway and Poland agreed to the following amendments:

(i) In Annex A (Product categories covered by the Agreement)

Knitted or crocheted shir ts , T-shirts and blouses of all kinds

Knitted or crocheted under garments, men's, boys", women's, g i r l s ' , infants ' , other than T-shirts, blouses, night wear and panty hose.

Outer garments and other articles knitted or crocheted, not elastic or rubberised: Pull-overs, sweaters, jumpers, cardigans and jackets.

Outer garments of woven material, women's, g i r ls ' : Blouses, shirts and the like.

(ii) In Annex B on restraints, delete categories 3*4, 6 and 8.

(iii) In Annex B on restraints, the base level under (b) to be increased thus:

Cat. 1 from 26.000 pes to 30.000 pes Cat. 2 from 10.000 pes to 80.000 pes
