The Stonewall Riots were caused by a police raid in a gay bar at Greenwich village. The officers beat up gay singers and escorted costomers out of the bar, and their actions cause the whole LGBT community to revenge with anger.

Homosexual people in different races were united to protest in west village around the Stonewall Inn, and some association or groups like Gay Liberian Front (GLF) was formed to gain Gay rights and solidarity.

At the end, one of the U.S. communist party members, Harry Hay, stated the first “Homophile” movement to support and help LGBT community.

The Stonewall RiotsThe Stonewall Riots was the battle between LGBT community and the society. It brings right, freedom and peace to people who have suffered from gendered violence.

The Stonewall Riot happened on June 28, 1969 in Stonewall Inn at New York’s Greenwich Village, located on Christopher Street.

Street Harassment is any action or comment between strangers in public places that is disrespectful, unwelcome, and is motivated by gender or sexual orientation or gender expression.

Important Facts• 71 % of students reported hearing sexual teasing,

jokes, or remarks at their schools.

97 % of students said they had not reported it.

Street harassment involve people of all background.

This is followed by whistles, calls, and yells of a sexual nature.

Effects on Girls• Feel insecure, scary, and threatened.

Girls can experience depression.

Sleep Problems.

Stress disorder.

• An unarmed West African immigrant with no criminal record was killed by four New York City police officers who fired 41 shots at him in the doorway of his Bronx apartment building. ( MR DIALLO)

• Tarika Wilson, was shot and killed in her home while holding her 1-year-old baby in her arms. The police was looking for his boyfriend but decided to shoot at the house.

• A Cleveland Police officer shot Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old African-American boy playing with a toy gun at a neighborhood park.
