    Participants:Each participant may only take part once in this category.

    limited number of participants - max. 20 participants per day.

    Participants can however take part in Category A2 for the title Champion of the 1st The BigCarving Contest Innsbruck - fafga 2013..

    Semi-final elimination: September 16 and 17, 2013Final:The Verband der Kche [Association of Chefs] will divide up participants according to theirapplications. Applicants will receive notification about their start day in good time by email. Inorder to qualify for the final you need to attain at least 60% of the maximum total number of

    points (at international competitions 60% equals the lowest bronze medal).

    Each participant is allocated an area totalling 120 x 80 cm. - and a chair.Work and display area:

    This area is for working in and also serves as a display area for the finished objects.Participants themselves may divide up this space as they please. There is no size limit on theobjects. Work area to the right, display area to the left.Each participant will receive a waste bucket. All other materials such as cutting board, knives,decoration, cleaning materialsmust be supplied by the participant.It is recommended you bring along a sign showing the topic of your display piece.

    Competition time is 3 hours.Sequence of events:

    10.00 Allocation of area and setting up work space.10.20 Instructions from the jury chairperson if applicable (non-German and English-speakingparticipants may have a translator with them).10.30 Start of the Live Vegetable Carving Competition13.30 End of carving13.30 to 13.45 Cleaning up the work area

    4 p.m. Announcement of results

    Your display piece must remain in the exhibition until 5.30 p.m. Each participant removes theirown display piece. Pieces not removed by then will be removed by us and the following day theywill be displayed, out of the competition, with the carvers name on them.

    Material:

    Another 5 fruits or vegetables can be used for carving, free choice (no quantity minimum ormaximum). Salads or herbs for decoration are not included in the 5 items above.Participants must bring all materials to be used with them and these must be stored visibly on theallocated table. No materials, tools or decoration materials may be stored under the table.Materials to be carved may not be previously prepared.

    - Vegetable adhesive or any other adhesiveNot permitted:

    - Electrical milling machine or grinding device- Colouring (apart from water-soluble food colourings)

    - Decoration materials that do not comply with hygiene regulations

    - Toothpicks, sticks for fixing and stabilising. These however must not be visible (subjectto deduction of marks)

    Permitted:

    - Decoration materials (see above for exceptions) to enhance your carving.

    Prizes:

    Names of participants reaching the final are announced at the awards ceremony on theirparticipation day. These participants receive a certificate of participation with a gift of honourand applicable prizes at the awards ceremony after the day of the final. Prizes are awarded for

    places 1 5. All others receive a certificate of participation and gift of honour. Special prizes areawarded additionally for: Best pumpkin, plus creative object

    Criteria for assessing the Category LIVE Vegetable Carving:

    Level of difficulty involved is assessed on personal artistry, absolute commitment, as well as thecarving techniques applied and different elements in the completed work.

    Level of difficulty: 0- 30

    Assessed on the skills involved in working the materials, as well as delicacy and precision ofexecution.

    Competence with materials / execution ( including cleanliness): 0- 20

    The overall impression should generate enthusiasm. Implementation of own ideas should beidentifiable.

    Creativity / artistic design: 0- 30

    In this connection display pieces based on original ideas should be realised with fresh fruit andvegetables. The work should be appropriate to the chosen theme and the overall impressionshould be of an integrated piece

    Advertising effect / sales promotion: 0-20

    300 is the total number of points possible.No half points are awarded.For the end assessment of finals participants, points for the semi-final elimination and the

    finals are added together.

    Photo rights:

    Participants have the right to publish their own pieces of work.

    The organiser and press representatives invited by the organiser have the right topublish photos of participants work.

    Participants and others do not have the right to publish work by other participants in theirpublicity material or anywhere else, except with the permission of the participant or theorganiser.

    Accommodation and catering from 16.09 18.09.2013 are organised by the Tyrol section of

    the Association. Application for the accommodation required must be carried out by

    The Tyrol section will pay only for services actually used. Should a participant reserve for a

    longer period and leave earlier, or not use their services, they will need to pay for the

    services not used.

    A midday and evening meal with a drink can be consumed at the fafga without charge.

    The prize for the winner for the best vegetable display piece from competitions A1 + A2
