When he lit the fire on his own property and it spread

He is :ר' יהודה for things חייבthat were hidden

פטור He is :רבנןfor things that were hidden

But if he lit the fire on the other’s property

Everyone agrees that he pays for everything

:רב כהנא said to רבאIf this was true, the end of the Mishna should say “The חכמים agree that if he lit the fire on the person’sproperty, he is חייב for everything

The חכמים agree to יהודה' ר :If one sets fire to a large tower, he pays for everything inside it, because it is normal for people to leave possessions in houses

Rather, רבא says:

If he lit the fire on the other person’s property

He is :ר' יהודה for anything חייבthat was hidden inside

חייב he is only :רבנןfor anything that would normally be kept in the grain

He is :ר' יהודה for things חייבthat were hidden

פטור He is :רבנןfor things that were hidden

When are the רבנן and רבי יהודה arguing?
