The Case-based Learning Week

• The basic unit of the Medicine course (35+ per year)• Usually lead by a (clinical) Doctor who is expert in that area• Typically include teaching sessions on

– Case of the Week - beginning– Anatomy (structure)– Physiology (function)– Pathology– Diagnosis, treatment and therapeutics– Sociology and Psychology – Integrated Clinical Method – clinical skills– Expert Forum - end

• Clinicians usually teach for 1-2 weeks per year– Year 1 = 31 different leads for 35 weeks– Feedback is essential

• Feedback acted upon – Weekly teaching meetings

• Feedback discussed• Action points raised• Response written and made available to all students
