VS
GARLIUM GARLIC POWDERConcentrated garlic oil and garlic powder on a carrier Dehydrated garlic bulb
High garlic oil content. (average 10%) Low oil content (average 0.7%)
Standardised and constant level of actives High fluctuations in quality depending on supplier, variety, origin and season
High stability of active ingredients Many actives are decomposed during manufacturing due to heat treatment
Easy incorporation into the feed due to optimized particle size and flowability
Irregular particle size produces a heterogeneous mixture
RESEARCHGarlium® vs fliesDetermine the repellent effect of Garlium® by comparing Control feed vs feed containing either Garlic powder or Garlium®.
Conclusion Garlium® was the most effective product to keep flies away from the feed source. This resulted in the highest mortalities of flies due to lack of feed.

Garlium® vs TicksGameExperimental study in collaboration with Veterinary Faculty of the University of Pretoria
• Experimental study with 24 springbok housed in a boma.• Treatments:
◦ Control ◦ Garlium® GEM HC at 1 g/animal/day
• 14 day adaptation period, 10 day assessment period.• Similar predetermined number of nymphs placed in each ear and covered with a specially
designed bag.
Tick assessment 10 days after tick placement

Feed intakeGarlium® increased feed intake (% of live weight) in the adaptation period from 4.3% (Con) to 5.2% (Garlium®). Once the ticks were placed in the ears, feed intakes were similar for both groups (Con = 4.4% and Garlium® = 4.5%).
ConclusionGarlium® was able to significantly reduce the number of live Brown ear ticks in the ears of springbok.
