Academic Achievements Distinctions by students

NI IOT Challenge:

Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Academy (APITA) conducted a state level

competition in Industrial Internet of Things in association with National Instruments.

Seven Projects were submitted by B.Tech IV year students of ECE branch out of which

two were qualified for second round and the batches are trained by National Instruments

on IOT concepts.

The projects are

Smart Helmet for Air Quality and Hazardous Event Detection for the Mining Industry by

G. Divya Reddy, G. Saphala, G. Devika under the guidance of Dr. Sk. Mahaboob basha

Health Monitoring System for Active and Assisted Living by I. Ramyaka, P. Yamini,

T.V. Yamini under the guidance of Naveen Kolla

The students of Geethanjali institute of science and technology bagged prizes in the

webinar online exam conducted under the joint auspicious of JNTU Anantapuramu

University and Texas Instruments on 5/10/2018. 270 Students of ECE participated in the

Texas Instrument Online Contest on Linear Integrated Circuit Analysis among which 212

students were certified by the Texas Instruments. The following top eight students are

awarded with TIVA EMBEDDED KITS by Texas instruments, Bangalore.

delivered a guest lecture on “damage assessment of R.C.C structures using NDT

methods” to the B.Tech. III & IV year Civil Engineering students of GIST on 26-09-

2018.

Conducted survey for 1 week NSS program by NSS unit at Pothireddypalem. The chief

guest Mr. A. Venkat Rao, Kovur SI addressed on 12th March of 2017 about different

services programs to be conducted.

Conducted Blood Camp at pothireddypalem with the help of “pinakini lions club”on 14th

March 2017. The chief guest Mr. Sitaramarao, president of pinakini lions club

appreciated the students and village people.

Conducted service program at pothireddypalem with 200 students on 16th March 2017.

The service programs like medical camp, blood camp and planting tress etc. by the NSS

candidates.

Conducted free eye camp at pothireddypalem with the help of “pinakini lions” club and

“Modern eye care” hospitals on 16th March, 2017. The chief guest Mr. Sitaramarao,

president of pinakini lions club appreciated the students for their service.

Totally, 500 students of Geethanjali Institute of Science and Technology participated in

free eye testing camp conducted by NSS unit with the support of “Clarity Opticals” on

26th March, 2017.

The third “International Yoga Day” was grandly celebrated by NSS unit at Geethanjali

Institute of Science and Technology on 20th June, 2017. The chief guest, Mr. M.

Veerendra addressed about the importance of yoga and fitness.

students at Geethanjali Institute of Science and Technology on 16th November, 2017.

history behind the National Service Scheme and improvements of it.

Conducted the “National Voters Day” on behalf of NSS unit on 24th January, 2018. The

principal, management, staff and Students participated in this event and explained about

the democracy and “Right to Vote” for every human being.

On 28th January, 2018, the students of NSS took an active part in serving at “Pulse Polio”

program in and around the SPSR Nellore district.

Organized pre- pongal celebrations on 12th January 2019 at GIST campus. This is one of

the annual celebrations at the college with a view to inculcating values of our tradition

Organized National Youth Day on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda birthday on 12th

January 2019 at GIST campus. Vivekananda was decided to be celebrated as the national

youth day to complete the aim of making better future of the country by motivating the

youths through the way of life and ideas of the swami Vivekananda.

Organized National Voters Day on 25th January 2019 at GIST campus to make the

students aware about voting. Principal motivated students to use their Right to Vote as

youth’s participation in political process would strengthen Indian Democracy.

Organized LLR Mela for the students and rural people on 02nd February 2019. 250

aspirants got LLRs on this great event.

Organized the rally and candlelight marches on 15th February 2019 for the soldiers who

lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack.

World Poetry Day was organized in association with World Union of Poets, Italy at GIST

on 21st March 2018.

‘Geethanjali Telugu Sabha’ conducted ‘Telugu language day’ at GIST on 29th August

2018 on the occasion of Telugu language formation day by inviting Dr. Ch.

Venkateswara Rao, a retired Telugu Lecturer and poet as chief guest. Various

competitions were conducted for students on this occasion for the promotion and

awareness about Telugu language in the present generations and prizes were distributed

to the winners.

Workshops/Symposiums/Seminars conducted

FOSSEE (Free/Libre and Open Source Software in Education) project promotes the use

of FLOSS tools to improve the quality of education in our country. The FOSSEE project

is part of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication

Technology (ICT), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of

India. Total 180 students from B.Tech II and III year are registered for various courses

supported by FOSSEE.

Spoken tutorials:

Spoken tutorials for students through online by faculty from IIT, Bombay during 2nd to

30th Oct. 2018 is organized in the subjects C & CPP Training and SCILAB. Over 300

students took part in the online sessions and 170 Students got online certificates on C &

CPP Training and SCILAB.

APSSDC Workshops:

A Two Week workshop and Certification Course on “PYTHON FOR EVERYBODY”

was organized for B.Tech III year ECE students, during 11th to 23th June 2018 in

collaboration with APSSDC for 19 registered students.

A three day workshop and Certification Course on “Embedded Systems

Fundamentals” 26th to 28th July 2018 and 30th July to 1st august 2018 in collaboration

with APSSDC, for 172 registered students form for B.Tech II & III year ECE.

A three day workshop on “Introduction to Game Development (IGDC) On

BUILDBOX”, during 12th October 2018 to 14th October 2018 in collaboration with

APSSDC for 68 ECE & 35 CSE students registered for the programme. Irfan and B.

A short online course on “Perspectives of Entrepreneurship” in association with

International Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (i2E) where 19 ECE and 01

ME students successfully completed the course.

A three day workshop on “Mathematical operations with scilab” in collaboration with

APSSDC was conducted for I B.Tech ECE and EEE students by the experts of APSSDC

from 08th October to 13th October, 2018.

A three day workshop on “Basics of Auto CAD” in collaboration with APSSDC was

conducted for I B.Tech Civil Engineering students from 28th January to 30th January,

A three day workshop on “Python Basics” in collaboration with APSSDC was conducted

for I B.Tech CSE Engineering students from 14th to 16th February, 2019.

A 6 day Workshop Training sessions were conducted for II Year B.Tech., Civil Engg.,

students on “Revit Architecture Design” during 04 – 02 -2019 to 09 – 02 - 2019 by

APSSDC.

Webinar on Python programming was organized for B.Tech III Year ECE students by the

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering on 18th January 2019 in

association with Monkfox an IIT, IISc Alumni intiative. Deepak Singh, Graduate of IIT,

BHU, Varanasi (IIT-BHU Varanasi) was the resource person in the field of machine

learning. This webinar is aimed at helping the students in placement preparations and he

introduces new developments in the field of python programming.

Toople Expert Session on ‘Digital transformation in campus hiring’ was organised on 09-

01-2019 at GIST. Ms. Tulasi enlightened the concepts of machine learning, data science

and artificial intelligence and also explained about varied set of skills that industry is

looking for as well as the requisite tools and techniques needed to start or advance career

in this domain.

Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) has established

the International Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (i2E) in partnership

with North-eastern University, Boston, USA, to promote the entrepreneurship among

students of colleges and universities in the state.I2E offered an online course

"Perspectives on Entrepreneurship" for one month. 20 students of B.Tech IV, III, and II

registered from GIST and received a Program Completion Certificate after completion of

the course content.

COLLEGE TO CORPORATE PROGRAM (C2C) IIT Bombay:16 students from

B.Tech II year ECE registered and successfully completed the course 1 with the

contents Effective use of IT professionals , Soft skills and Workplace communication in

Blended MOOCS Approach during 6th September 2018 To 8th November 2018 also

registered for the second course contains the modules English for Oral Communication,

Financial Literacy and Handling Large Projects.

Cloud Literacy Day 2018 was organized in Association with ICT academy on

30th October 2018. More than 200 students in our college enrolled for the Programme.

One Week Workshop on “Arduino Programming and Applications for Electrical

Engineering” by Suresh, Assistant Professor, EEE, S.A. Engineering College held on 28-

09-018 to 05-10-018. The students learned about the Case study of Traffic light, Status

Monitoring of Street Light, Street Light Control. The students got awareness on the

Android controlled Arduino and got the ideas and tips for modeling the robot for

competitions and expiations by the Demo given on the Line follower Robot and Guesture

Control. On the successful completion of the workshop the students were issued with the

certificates.

A workshop on “Scilab fundamentals” was organized by the Dept of EEE for IInd year

students during 18-02-2019- 20-02-2019.

A workshop on “Numerical Relays and Protection of Transformer” was organized by

The “International Conference on Advanced Trends in Computer Science & Information

Technology (ICATCSIT-18)” was organized by Department of CSE during 24th –

25th August 2018 with the Chief guest Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Dash, Professor and Head

Department of Electrical Engineering, Government College of Engineering, Odisha. The

Guest of Honour PROF. BILAL SALIH ABED ALHAYANI, Ph.D., University in

Istanbul, Turkey.

The International Conference attracted over 136 submissions. Through rigorous peer

reviews 82 high quality papers were recommended by the Committee. The Conference

aptly focused on the tools and techniques for the developments on current technology.

Industry Institute Interaction

A Three day workshop on “LabVIEW” was organized at GIST for B.Tech III Year ECE

students by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from 25th to

27th OCT 2018 in association with APITA. Mr. K. Prakash, Application Engineer from

National handled both theory and practical sessions for 60 students.

A three workshop was organised at GIST for B.Tech III Year ECE students on ARM

Mbed platform from 9th Jan 2019 to 11th Jan 2019 under joint auspices of APITA-ARM

University (EduVance) and ECE department. Mr. Abhishek Sachidanandam, ARM

University Program trainer enlightened the students on the theoretical aspects and real

time applications of ARM Mbed systems.

A Webinar for B.Tech III Year ECE students was held on 23rd February 2019 at GIST on

“Introduction to Virtualization” in association with APITA & VMware. The objective of

this webinar was to unveil the concepts of virtualization.

Industry visits

Industrial visit was organized to National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL)

Gadanki on 9th November 2018 for III year and IV year students of ECE. The objective

behind the visit is to explore the idea on Radar technology, working of antennas and to

know the different atmospheric conditions for weather monitoring. Sixty students along

with three members of faculty are participated in the visit.

An industrial visit to Damodar Sanjeevaiah APGENCO Thermal Power plant, Nelatur,

Nellore, was organized for the III year B.Tech EEE. Engg., Students on 7th Sept. 2018.

The students gained knowledge on practical generation of electricity from coal and

control system involved with it for transmission of power. The waste management

techniques involved with them and specification on tariff rate was also known

A field visit to “Nellore-Mumbai highway”, near vaaradhi centre, saaluchinthala village,

SPSR Nellore District, was conducted for the IV year B.Tech Civil Engineering Students
