Aims

• To discuss the requirements of the assignment brief

• To identify and agree appropriate Harvard-style references for a range of assignment related information sources

• To produce an essay plan

• To write an introductory section for a selected assignment question

Activities

1. Class discussion on the assignment brief

2. Each student to identify a journal article, a textbook, a website page, a newspaper article, and a set of GCMB lecture notes relevant to one of the questions in the assignment brief.

3. For each of the information sources identified in activity 2, record the appropriate set of Harvard–style references for:- a direct quote- a paraphrased quote

4. Produce an essay plan for one of the four questions in the assignment brief.

5. Write an introductory paragraph for the question featured in the essay plan produced in activity 4.

6. Class discussion on work produced during the tutorial and any assignment related questions, issues, points for clarification.
