gratuities.
Entourage Management will
handle all arrangements and
accommodations. In addition
Entourage will provide a per-
sonal tour director for the trips
entirety.
Trip dates will be October 2
–6, 2011. The entire cost of
the trip is $859 and is open to
any 2010 or 2011 AP Social
Studies Student.
For the first time in 5 years,
we have decided it was time to
offer students a hands on
experience of a lifetime. In
years past we have afforded
AP Social Studies students the
opportunity to visit Washington
DC. This year we decided to
take a bite out of the big ap-
ple, that’s right, New York City.
Just hearing the name con-
jures up all sorts of images in
your head—skyscrapers,
Broadway, Time Square, the
Statue of Liberty, cabs honking
and more! A trip to the city is
always unforgettable and will
be filled with incredible mo-
ments that will be remem-
bered forever!
Highlights of the trip in-
clude: Ellis Island and the
Statue of Liberty, a guided city
tour through NYC, visits to
sites such as Battery Park, St.
Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefel-
ler Center, the Garment Dis-
trict, Grand Central Station, A
Broadway Show, The Dakota
House, Central Park, Cathedral
Both AP US History and AP
European History students
were given the opportunity to
experience the AP Exam under
realistic conditions on Satur-
day, February 26 from 8:30—
2:00.
Over 50 students showed
up to test their abilities and
better prepare themselves for
the real exam which is offered
during the first week of May.
On this day students took a
college board released exam
which included Multiple
Choice, Free Response and
Document Based Questions.
Upon completion of the exam,
students then discussed with
teachers appropriate answers
to the writing portion as well
as commonly missed multiple
choice questions.
In addition a make-up ses-
sion was hosted for those un-
able to attend and 13 stu-
dents attended that session.

1st Quarter 2011 Volume 1, Issue 1
Barry Leonard and Jennifer
Hunter participated in a so-
cratic circle discussion of the
book Liberty and Order:the
First Party Struggle by Lance
Banning. The discussions
were led by Todd Estes,
Ph.D., Associate Professor,
Department of History, Oak-
land University, Rochester,
Michigan. Dr. Estes facili-
tated the discussions of 14
educators from across the
state, including elementary,
middle, high school and Uni-
versity teachers. The teach-
ers spent 14 hours discuss-
ing in depth views of the
founding fathers, Washing-
ton, Madison, Hamilton, Jef-
ferson, Adams and various
other letters and speeches to
analyze the founding of
America's first political par-
ties. Participants responded
to questions from Dr. Estes
from the documents found in
Liberty and Order and devel-
oped rationales of how and
why political parties formed
and how they play a major
role in American government
today. Jennifer and Barry
attended 6 different 90 min-
ute sessions.
