Sangar, Member From the President’s Desk After successful launching of E-Newsletter by the GCCI, I am happy to release herewith the second issue. The team of GCCI has successfully organised the event of “Vibrant Kutch 2016” from 12 th to 14 th February, 2016 at KPT Ground, Gandhidham. There were more than 95 exhibitors who displayed their various products during the event. GMDC, IFFCO, Adani group, various Nationalised / Private sector Banks & giants from auto sector viz. Audi, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra Truck & Bus, Bharat Benz, Hero Motors, Eicher Motors etc. participated in a big way. In this mega event, Netherlands joined the hands with GCCI as a Country Partner and put Vibrant Kutch – 2016 on a global plaque. More than 40k visitors from various parts of Kutch and Gujarat mustered their presence in the three-day event. Seminars on various subjects like Education, Timber, SEZ, MSME, Wind Power and Tourism were conducted. Large number of industrialists / entrepreneurs from all over Kutch participated in these seminars. Musical/cultural programmes were conducted by well-known folk dancers & singers of Gujarat region including Osman Mir. These programmes were enjoyed enthusiastically by one and all. I congratulate all the members of GCCI for successfully organizing this mega event with the team spirit. After successful launching of E-Newsletter by the GCCI,

I am happy to release herewith the second issue.

The team of GCCI has successfully organised the event

of “Vibrant Kutch 2016” from 12th to 14th February, 2016 at

KPT Ground, Gandhidham. There were more than 95

exhibitors who displayed their various products during the event. GMDC, IFFCO,

Adani group, various Nationalised / Private sector Banks & giants from auto sector

viz. Audi, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra Truck & Bus, Bharat Benz, Hero

Motors, Eicher Motors etc. participated in a big way. In this mega event,

Netherlands joined the hands with GCCI as a Country Partner and put Vibrant

Kutch – 2016 on a global plaque. More than 40k visitors from various parts of

Kutch and Gujarat mustered their presence in the three-day event.

Seminars on various subjects like Education, Timber, SEZ, MSME, Wind Power

and Tourism were conducted. Large number of industrialists / entrepreneurs from

all over Kutch participated in these seminars. Musical/cultural programmes were

conducted by well-known folk dancers & singers of Gujarat region including

Osman Mir. These programmes were enjoyed enthusiastically by one and all.

I congratulate all the members of GCCI for successfully organizing this mega event

Half Yearly General Body Meeting

The Half Yearly General Body Meeting (2015-16) of the Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industry was conducted at “Shri Amarchand Singhvi Conference Hall” on Sunday, 28th February, 2016 @ 10.00 am.

67th Republic Day Celebration

GCCI President Shri Dinesh Gupta hoisted the National Flag in the Chamber premises. The members of Managing Committee, staff and distinguished guests attended the flag hoisting ceremony. Shri Gupta in his speech complemented all and recalled the massive Earthquake that extensively shook our Kutch district 15 years’ back. He appreciated the people of district in building innovative Kutch for their braveness and also thanked the government for all out support in rehabilitating the sufferers.

Chamber Visit by Hon’ble M. P. (Loksabha) Shri Vinodbhai Chavda

Shri Vindobhai Chavda M.P. of Kutch-Morbi, visited the Chamber on 22nd January, 2016. He was apprised about the Chamber’s activities and given a memorandum of various issues relating to Railways, Air Service etc. to be resolved. Shri Chavda assured to take up the issues appropriately.

PGVCL project for Underground Cabling

As per media reports, PGVCL has come up with project of underground cabling for the coastal twin cities of Gandhidham and Adipur in Kutch in order to get uninterrupted power supply even in times of natural calamities. State-owned power distribution company, Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) distributing power in Saurashtra and Kutch will implement Rs.162 crore project to convert the entire existing overhead network of HT and LT lines in to underground network in twin cities. "This is the first-of-its-kind project by a state power company where power supply to entire twin city is being converted into underground network on such a scale. The underground network will have special provision for

telecommunications cable and traffic signal cables in single trench." The entire project is being funded by World Bank via soft loan and is part of National Cyclone Risk Mitigation project of Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA). PGVLC officials said that it is an extremely important project considering that Gandhidham is an economic hub that is located in high risk seismic zone V, which makes it prone to earthquakes. Moreover, the coastal towns are vulnerable to cyclones too. Underground cable network will ensure that even during a natural calamity there would be no power outages. After long and continuous efforts of Chamber, PGVCL at last seems to have been convinced to implement this project. We eagerly await for execution of the project.

Delegation’s Visits

His Excellency Governor of Gujarat Shri O. P. Kohli on his visit at the inaugural function of 4th wing of Tolani Commerce College, Adipur on 18th February, 2016 was greeted by Shri Dinesh Gupta, President of Chamber and office bearers with memento. Shri K. P. Sharma Oli Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal visited Kutch district on 23rd February, 2016. Shri Dinesh Gupta, President and office bearers greeted him with memento.

Seminar - I

Tourism Policy by Government of Gujarat On 12th February,2016 from 3.30 p.m. onwards, seminar cum road show was conducted by the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat and organised by Gandhidham Hotel & Restaurant Owners Association. Shri Nirav Munshi, Manager (Tours, Travels and Hotels) and Shri B. K. Biswas, Manager (Marketing, IT & Investment), officials from Tourism Corporation of Gujarat apprised the New Tourism Policy – 2016. In presentation, the information and benefits of new policy were given known to the hoteliers, tour operators and hospitality industries. A road show on the tourism policy was also held.

Seminar - II A Seminar on Education “Start – Ups…..Yes! You Can”

On 13th February,2016 @ 11.00 a.m., seminar was conducted for the benefit of students relating to their career. Speaker Shri Mahesh Kumar Kella, Director of L J Polytechnic, Ahmedabad apprised his views on current education systems in India, student’s choice to select their profession etc. He advised the students to opt for technical lines as far as possible, enabling them to start their own venture / job as per the demand of the day. Shri Vineet Kumar Ojha, the founder of “Ojha Mind Power” gave away a speech for becoming a successful entrepreneur which was befitting to the occasion. Students and teachers in large numbers from various schools and colleges of twin township of Gandhidham – Adipur attended the seminar with all eagerness. Queries of students were replied to satisfaction by the speakers.

Seminar - III Timber Industry

In the second half of 13th February,2016 at 4.00 p.m., seminar on Timber Industry was organised by The Kandla Timber Association, Gandhidham. Dr. N K Upreti, Scientist-G at Forestry Research Institute, Dehradun, having 23 years’ experience in the field of Wood Drying & 14 years teaching experience, explained the wood drying technology very interestingly to protect the wood logs stored in factories. He satisfied the queries of the audience. Mr. Peter Bradfield, Technical Advisor of Forestry Innovation Consulting India, Canadian (B.C.) Wood Products, having 40 years of experience in the wood & woodworking industry internationally, focused on the importance of British Columbia (B.C) wood species and his speech was appreciated by all. There was huge presence of timber industry from all-over Kutch in this informative seminar.

Seminar - IV Problems faced by

Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) and its Solution

On 14th February,2016 at 11.00 a.m., seminar on MSME was organised. Mr. Vajubhai Vaghasia, National Past President of Laghu Udyog Bharti apprised that Laghu Udyog Bhartu is the organization that works for the benefit of Micro Small and Medium Enterprise in India from 1994. Mr. Vaghasia had given brief idea of Laghu Udyog Bharti, its functionality, importance and its representation in various national and state level committees. He also focused on the various acts/ laws implemented on MSME besides solved the queries of industrialists who participated in the seminar.

Seminar - V Special Economic Zone – Propel Growth of Kutch

The seminar was held on 14th February and conducted by Mr. Upendra Vasishth, Zonal Development Commissioner Gujarat State (SEZs & EOUs) & Chairman, Kandla SEZ Authority. He focused on objectives, advantages and functionality of SEZ in India. He informed that in near future KPT will also start SEZ. Mr. Mukeshkumar Saxena, the vice president and Head of SEZ operation in Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone – Mundra, focused on the importance, benefits, function and the future of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. Large number of industrialist from all over Kutch participated in this informative seminar.

The seminar was conducted on wind power by Mr. Alok Das, Head – Business Development, Suzlon, who explained the importance of wind power. Suzlon started its journey from Rajkot in the year 1995 and presently working in six countries. He apprised that GAIL, GSFC, ONGC, HPCL, SBI etc. are the companies who have used power generated by wind mill.

Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony of Vibrant Kutch -2016 was held at 07.30 p.m. on 14th Feb. The Managing Committee Members, Co-organizers M/s. Aakar Exhibition Pvt., students from TIMS, Exhibitors and visitors at large made the ceremony memorable. The participation certificates were awarded to the exhibitors who displayed their valuable products and the event was concluded with the vote of thanks.
