Highlights
GCC could save up to USD200 billion by 2030 providedrenewable energy targets are achieved.
Government initiatives such as Shams Dubai andDubai net metering policy encourages users toimplement BIPM systems.
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is projected to spendUSD100 billion on renewable energy over next 20years.
GCC will require additional 100 GW power over next10 years to cope up with rising demand.
More than 60% of GCC’s surface area has excellentsuitability for PV system installation.
The cost of solar power in UAE declined to record lowof USD0.06 per KWh, which is cheaper than powerproduced from other sources.

The demand for electricity consumption in GCC has
been growing at an average rate of 7%-8% per
annum. The government is required to double their
electricity generating capacity every year to cope up
with the rising energy demand in the region.
Moreover, the decline in oil revenue compelled
government to revoke subsidies on electricity prices,
thereby deeming it costly.
The rising cost competitiveness of solar equipment
would enhance their integration in Commercial as well
as residential buildings during the forecast period.
