His Excellency Engineer Abdullah Alswaha has over two decades of experience in leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship. Throughout his career, he has successfully built high performing multi billion riyal organizations in the private and public sectors, while delivering on a mission to make this world a better place through talent, technology and innovation.

His Excellency was appointed as Minister of Communications and Information Technology in April 2017. Prior to this, he was the Chief Digital Officer of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in charge of leading key digitization efforts within the Kingdom, including the creation of a national digital agenda, promoting opendata and the encouragement of digital entrepreneurship.

Before His Excellency joined the Vision 2030 team, he served in the private sector as the CEO of Cisco Saudi Arabia. Under his leadership, the company remained the leading digitization partner in Saudi Arabia and the surrounding region. He has also founded Ubieva, a social entrepreneurial incubator that went on to launch the first mobile health app in the Middle East.

In addition to his role as the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, he is also the Chairman of the ICT Commission, Chairman of the Saudi Post and Chairman of the National Digitization Committee.

His Excellency holds a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), as well as a degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington. He has also completed Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School and Duke University.

James BilefieldChairman & Serial Digital Entrepreneur

James is a serial digital entrepreneur, who quit a successful investment banking career to build a series of technology-based disruptors around the world.

He scaled Skype’s global business as part of its founding management team, managed the digital transformation of media group Conde Nast across 27 countries, and led a major investment in fashion e-commerce leader Farfetch. He also co-founded UpMyStreet, one of the UK’s first digital businesses, ran OpenX, a pre-IPO company delivering billions of digital ads daily, and managed large parts of Yahoo!’s European operations during its major growth phase.

James currently serves on a number of public, private and not-for-profit boards, addressing a broad range of digital transformation and growth initiatives. He also holds advisory positions at McKinsey and Advent International, and is an active technology investor and mentor.

Mohammed Al-Shroogi is the Chairman of GCC BDI and formerly the Co-Chief Executive Officer of the global investment group, Investcorp. He was responsible for helping guide the firm towards achieving its strategic objectives.

Over the course of a career that began more than four decades ago, Mohammed has built and nurtured a wide network of strategic business relationships across the Middle East and North Africa, spanning key regulators, central banks, financial institutions, corporates and senior government officials.

Mohammed joined Investcorp in 2009 as President of the firm’s Gulf business. He oversaw the development of US private equity investment business in MENA and Turkey and Investcorp is now the largest private equity investor in the Gulf. He also was instrumental in rebuilding the Placement and Relationship Management team after the financial crisis and this team is raising more capital in alternative investments than any other firm in the Gulf.

Mohammed has been a member of the Bahrain Shura Council, Member of the Board of Trustees at Bahrain University and a member of the Bahrain Economic Development Board, as well as serving as Chairman of Investcorp Saudi Arabia Financial Investments Company.

Mohammed holds a BA in Commerce from Kuwait University and has attended the Harvard Management Executive Program.

Dr. Abdulrahman AlJadhai joined Elm, a Saudi company considered to be a leader in e-government services, in 2005. Elm has played a major role in the digital transformation of the country, providing innovative solutions in outsourcing and training among others and has a Kingdom-wide reach when it comes to bettering the lives of its people.

Dr. Abdulrahman AlJadhai became the CEO of Elm after 7 years with the company. He has also performed in other senior impactful roles, including as Chairman of the advisory board for the first health cluster in Riyadh, which helps to organise and coordinate in the event of a health crisis. He is also a board member of Taibah Valley company, in the education sector, as well as a former board member of Tabadul Company. In addition, he co-founded “Linux Group Saudi Arabia”.

Dr. Abdulrahman AlJadhai holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering from King Saud University, Riyadh and both a Master’s Degree & Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. He has co-authored the Arabic book “Open Source Software”.

Jane is the Executive Director of GCC BDI and has over 15 years of international experience in corporate governance and working with boards of directors. She is an accredited corporate governance trainer with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, and is an accredited trainer with the Ethics Institute, as well as being a Certified Ethics Officer.

From 2010 to 2015, Jane was the CEO of the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIOD), one of the leading institutes in Africa. She was the first Chairperson of the African Corporate Governance Network from 2013-2015, a network which she helped to found, bringing together 17 Institutes of Directors from across the African continent.

Before joining the MIOD, Jane held senior positions and directorships in a wide range of business sectors with leading companies including British Airways, Air Mauritius, Sun International and The Rogers Group, among others, as well as running her own management and training consultancy.

Jane holds a BA Hons in French and Italian from Birmingham University, UK. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the University of Middlesex for services to business, women’s empowerment and social justice and she was decorated by the Republic of Mauritius as a Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (CSK) for services to corporate governance.

Zeyad is the Managing Partner of Khoshaim & Associates and is a leading lawyer in Saudi Arabia who specializes in advising corporate multinationals in structuring and financing major projects, joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions in Saudi Arabia. For over fifteen years, he has advised and led on some of Saudi Arabia’s most high profile energy, petrochemical and healthcare related projects. Zeyad leads the corporate, capital markets and dispute resolution teams in Riyadh, and has advised on landmark debt and equity capital markets transactions, litigated in court and arbitration, and advised on public mergers and acquisitions. Zeyad is a member of the CMA’s Advisory Committee helping to shape the regulatory framework for corporate governance and capital markets. He has been invited to speak on various topics, including corporate governance matters, and has participated in capital markets symposiums. Given his background as a computer engineer, he has a passion for combining technology and law. Zeyad earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Vanderbilt University Law School, has an Executive Management of Law Firms Certificate from Harvard Law School.

With over 15 years of experience in the technology field Wael brings insight and practical solutions to a complex area of technology consulting that is constantly changing. A Saudi national who studied and worked in the US for many years before moving back to the region. Wael through his career, has accumulated extensive experience across multiple geographies and industry sectors. Wael started his career with PwC in the United States for three years before moving back to the region. As a partner with PwC focused on Cybersecurity and Technology risk Wael leads many complex transformation projects with some of the biggest private and government entities in the region. Wael is also involved with many of the regulators in the region, helping shape the future regulations around cybersecurity and Technology. Over the last few years Wael was a speaker at many major events, he is also published in multiple publications and TV interviews. Wael holds a double major in Information Systems Management, and Business Management as well as a minor in Computer science. He also holds multiple technical certifications: CISA, ISO20k, ISO27k, ISO22301, ITIL and Cobit 5.

Abdulrahman is CEO & MD of STV, a $500M tech venture fund anchored by STC, the largest telecom company in the Middle East. Closed first transaction in December 2016: co-led Careem’s (Series D) investment round at a >$1B valuation.

Previously, Abdulrahman led new business development and global partnerships for Google’s wireless connectivity & communications efforts out of the company’s headquarters in Mountain View, California. Prior to that, he built and scaled Google’s Android/Play business across Eastern Europe, Middle East and North Africa. Abdulrahman first joined Google in 2009 to establish and lead Google’s business operations in emerging markets in the Middle East region out of Dubai. He directed Google’s strategy and investments to the region, grew revenues, and drove strategic partnerships.

Prior to Google, Abdulrahman co-founded a number of technology ventures in the US and managed different tech consulting, banking, and design engagements at Oracle, Morgan Stanley, and Blueprint. Abdulrahman is a member of a number of boards and investment committees. He was named by the MIT Technology Review as a TR35 Pan-Arab Innovator, listed on the 30 under 30 lists of Arabian Business and Gulf Business, and was the first recipient of the MIT ASO Science and Technology Achievement award.

Abdulrahman attended MIT and received BSc and MEng degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a concentration in Economics.

Ihab Foudeh is the General Manager for Microsoft Public Sector– Middle East and Africa. He has been with Microsoft for almost 17 years and has held various positions within the company extending from Business Development to Professional Services. He is an avid technology supporter and is a strong advocate for Developers in the MEA region and for the Adaptation of technology in various industries. Prior to joining Microsoft, Ihab held multiple R&D leadership roles working for US Multi-nationals for companies like DataStorm technologies-ProComm (Communication), Cerner Corp (Health Care) and DST systems (Financial Services).

Ihab completed his Electrical, Computer Engineering and MBA studies at the University of Missouri Columbia in the US.

Xavier is committed to transforming businesses digitally, he has over 23 years of combined strategy consulting and operational experience in the Digital, FinTech, high-tech, media and telecommunications industries in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He has led large teams of professionals and effectively steered P&L, both from start-ups to multi-national corporations.

Xavier has extensive experience as an advisor to top executives of leading groups and governments across multiple domains including: corporate and commercial strategy, business and operational transformation, analytics and organizational development. Prior to joining Accenture, Xavier was the CEO of International Operations in Cash Credit, an innovative FinTech player in the lending space, leading the company expansion from Eastern Europe to the Middle East, Far East and Africa. Before he was Partner and Group COO of Delta Partners Group, and had senior roles in Oliver Wyman, Ono and Hewlett-Packard.

At Accenture, Xavier leads the overall Expo 2020 Digital experience programme. He is also rolling out an Artificial Intelligence programme for the largest Islamic bank in the region and transforming the largest retail bank in the region into a data-driven enterprise. Xavier leads Accenture’s Innovation Programme in the region and has featured as a keynote speaker in leading conferences on the topics of Digital Transformation, Blockchain, Innovation and Insurtech in multiple countries.

Xavier holds an MBA from ESADE in Barcelona and MSc in Electrical Engineering and BSc in Telecommunications from La Salle Engineering in Barcelona. Xavier has lived on 4 continents and led assignments in over 30 countries.

Lino Cattaruzzi has been Google MENA’s Managing Director since November 2016. Previously, he was Country Director for Google in Mexico, and before that, Argentina. Lino also worked at Google’s Headquarters in California, leading the global Sales Strategy team for Online Media Solutions and was prior to that in charge of the Online Sales Organization for Germany, Switzerland and Austria while based out of Dublin.

Before joining Google, Lino held several managerial positions at AOL Latin America, including being President for Latin America and their subsidiary in Argentina. Lino is Argentinian and lives in Dubai with his wife and two children.

Omar Mohammed Hashem is the Head of Digital & Technology Group of the National Commercial Bank. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree, ICS from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia (1993).

Omar is an experienced banker in the field of Payments and Technology with specialties in the fields of Strategy, E-business with relation to Financial Industry. He started his career as a Client Relation at Saudi Business Machine (IBM GMSR), Saudi Arabia.

Omar joined NCB in 2001 as E-Commerce Business Development Manager. He then held various positions at The National Commercial Bank (NCB): Head of Cash Management, Head of Remittance Mobile Payments & Online Banking, Head of Electronic Transactions Banking, Head of Strategy and Financial Planning Office.

Omar’s most recent role was as Head of the Digital Banking Division, where he was responsible for leading the Bank’s Digital Strategy across fronts Retail and Corporate while being the best Digital Bank and the number one in Customer Experience.

In addition to his executive duties, Omar is also the Chairman of the Board of SANID, Saudi Arabia, an Advisory Board Member of Vision Ventures Capital, and Advisory Board Member of Souqalmal.com.

Dr Hans-Martin StockmeierSenior Partner, McKinsey & Company

Hans-Martin is a Senior Partner with McKinsey in the Middle East. He joined the Firm in 1991 in Frankfurt and later moved to the Firm’s offices in Istanbul and Dubai. Hans-Martin serves clients in financial services. His client portfolio includes several of the leading commercial banks and insurance companies in the Middle East and Turkey covering projects in strategy, organization and service operations and risk. In addition, he has worked with financial sector regulators in the region and in Asia.

Hans-Martin also leads McKinsey’s relationship with the GCC Board Directors Institute, the leading non-profit organization in the region dedicated to promoting corporate governance standards in the region. Furthermore, he built and led McKinsey’s Family Business Practice in the region. The practice serves owners and leaders on family-owned businesses on family and business governance, business portfolio and family office related issues.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Hans-Martin worked at Deutsche Bank and Union Bank of Switzerland in the banks’ retail and investment banking businesses. He holds a Ph.D. in Insurance Economics from Humboldt University and a Master of Science in Finance from the London School of Economics.

Richard GuestPartner, Heidrick & Struggles

Richard Guest is a Partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Dubai office and is a member of both the Global Technology & Services Practice and the Global Industrial Practice. With over eleven years in the Middle East, Richard works with multinational and regional corporations, as well as private equity and sovereign linked funds advising on Board and C-suite executive searches, in addition to leadership advisory mandates.

While his primary focus is on the GCC, he also works with organisations across Africa and Asia-Pacific, with a particular focus on CEO Succession projects for technology driven organisations.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Richard was with a boutique executive search firm where he was involved in the start up of the Dubai office and covered Middle East & Africa plus South East Asia. Prior to that, he was a principal consultant for a UK based executive search company for whom he moved to Dubai following an acquisition.

Richard has authored numerous articles for leading publications in the Middle East focusing on talent-related issues in the telecoms, technology and industrial sectors.

Rashid AlBallaa is the Managing Director of National Technology Group (NTG), one of MENA’s largest ICT conglomerates and key provider of Financial Technology and Services. NTG has over 3500 employees, US$ 600+ million revenues and 20+ subsidiaries and JVs in the MENA region.

Previously, Rashid founded and managed N2V, an internet holding company that is Disrupting Digital Arabia and stimulating the growth of internet industry in Arabia. N2V started and invested in many successful online ventures in Arabia in ecommerce, epayments, mobile apps, and content.

Prior to N2V, Rashid founded and managed Mubasher Financial Services (MFS), MENA’s first STP e-brokerage company and the only provider of DMA to many frontier equity markets.

Rashid holds a B.Sc. in Computer science with honors from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Rashid has been recognized and awarded by multiple entities and magazines such as Forbes and CEO Magazine, and is a regular speaker in tens of conferences and events in the region and a board member in many companies and the deputy chairman of the national ICT committee in the Council of Saudi Chambers.

Evans Munyuki is the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) for Emirates NBD and an experienced business leader with 24+ years of experience leading financial and technology organizations in listed companies across both mature and emerging markets.

Before joining Emirates NBD, Evans undertook multiple CDO, CIO and P&L business leadership roles across a combination of traditional financial and technology companies across American, European, and African markets. Evans was also recently CDO and CIO of a rapid growth, German-listed, fintech operating across 14 African and European markets. In addition to multiple certifications, he holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Electronics Engineering.

Vinay Chandran is a Digital Partner in the Dubai Office of McKinsey and Company. He leads McKinsey’s Analytics practice in EEMA region. Vinay has ~13 years’ experience, serving a wide range of institutions covering topics related to analytics and digital transformations, technology simplification, and digitally enabled operation transformations. He has previously worked in the Pittsburgh office serving McKinsey’s North American clients.

Matthew is a partner, Head of PwC’s Digital Trust practice and Blockchain Leader for Assurance in the Middle East. He is a highly experienced advisor on the topics of digital risk and resilience, data privacy and, more recently, emerging technologies including blockchain and cryptocurrency.

He is currently supporting several crypto-asset businesses with licencing and controls design within the UAE and has set up PwC’s Digital Academy which focuses on training and awareness of emerging technology including blockchain, artificial intelligence and robotics.

Matthew is a regular speaker at high profile technology events such as the Future Blockchain Summit, Gartner’s Security and Risk Management Summit and the AI and Cognitive Computing Summit. He has also published blockchain and technology thought leadership in Gulf News and Forbes.
