and development among the students of GUIST.
3. The main idea of Utkranti is to put the students in an
environment where they will learn how to the team
work and coordinate with different views and opinions
4. Today Skill India is providing a good platform to
showcase all our start-up ideas and also our skills.
Through Skill India platform we can connect with our
ideas to every knock and corner of the World and also
transform our society as well as our nation in the field
of technology.
5. In the given 24 hour time frame the students
participating in Utkranti need to come up with a viable
project and they need to present their project ideas.
MISSION of Utkranti:

Problem Statement Of Utkranti 1.0
1. IoT based GU bus tracking System, web based Application or Android App for
position prediction and time estimation.
2. Vehicle surveillance system for Gauhati University Premises, maintaining digital records of entry and
exit of vehicles within G.U. premises.
3. Hostel Management System
▹ Student can take admission online.
▹ Room allocation online.
▹ Cleaning and maintenance log online.
▹ Complain and Feedback.
▹ Parents/students/Administration can only Access.
4. Sentiment Analysis of the masses for Socio Economy and political issues using social media
platform, Determining the sentiment associated with a political party of the masses using social
media platform. For a better election planning.
5. Keyword based Résumé/CV filtering, Selecting the Résumé/CV containing the desired keyword,
Resume can be in pdf or doc file.
6. Conversion of educational videos into text.
7. Smart Street Lighting System, depending on the intensity of the sunlight the streetlights should go on
or off and glow & dim the intensity of street lighting.
8. IoT based weather monitoring system, develop an electronic device that can sense temperature,
humidity changes and send updates from a user at remote location.
9. An automated switch to turn on or off, based on the presence of people, an IOT based smart switch
that will connect and disconnect automatically based on presence of people inside the room and
Android App to monitor.
10. Road Project Monitoring System using Geo spatial satellite, monitoring the construction of
road/highway projects from satellite imaging for a transparent governance and reporting system.
11. Automated traffic control and monitoring System, a smart traffic control system to monitor and
manage the traffic condition accordingly using computer Vision.
12. Paraphrasing Tool, many students are lazy especially when it comes to writing essays.
Would it be nice if we have a paraphrasing tool that takes a sentence that we copy from some
source and transforms it into a new sentence with different structure but conveys the same
meaning?
13. Analysing Music Trends and Recommendation Using ML
Or, A Movie Recommender System from Tweets Data, Nowadays, we are living in an age of
recommendation. Amazon stays ahead of the curve in the eCommence industry by personalized
recommendation of items shoppers might like based on past orders; Google news generates click
through rates by showing relevant content to readers; TripAdvisor provides different hotel rankings
for different users; Last.fm displays "Play your recommendations" button on the home page to attract
users; Netflix achieves 2/3 of its movie views by recommendations.

14. Face recognition based smart lock and unlock (i.e. security system), facial recognition technology
has a wide range of potential applications related to security and safety including surveillance,
information security, access control, and identity fraud. Despite the variety of approaches and
tools studied, however, face recognition is not accurate or robust enough to be deployed in
uncontrolled environments.
with people working harder than ever the time to rest has decreased. People are
constantly tired and are dependent upon technologies for getting their work done.
A smart lock and security system using Android will allow people to open/close
windows, close/close doors from their bed or workplace. People will be able to
get everything done through their android phones that too without leaving their
bed or work place. This surely is the future of home management.

15. Biomatrix based Authentication System, biometric devices are employed for the highest level
of security as they involve the scanning of biological organs like eyes, fingers, etc. Generally
these devices will have a scanner that identifies the pattern of the organ and a processing
unit, which compares them with pre-stored values for allowing access. By this project, you can
build a finger print based Biometric Authentication system using an Arduino board that can
allow or deny access.
You will need the following components to complete this project,
1. Finger Print Scanner – it can scan the finger print and give a digital value for it
2. Arduino Uno – acts as the microcontroller and does the verification
3. LCD Display – to display the authentication message
Hand-based verification/identification represent a key biometric technology with a wide range of potential applications both in industry and government. Traditionally, hand-based verification and identification systems exploit information from the whole hand for authentication or recognition purposes. To account for hand and finger motion, guidance pegs are used to fix the position and orientation of the hand.

16. Digit Recognition via Unsupervised Learning, digit recognition is a benchmark test for computer
vision algorithms and has a wide range of applications from bank check processing to postcode
recognition. Currently the supervised learning methods yield much higher classification accuracy than
most unsupervised ones.

17. Using Decision Tree to predict repeat customers, Customer retention is important to many
businesses as it is cheaper to build loyal relationships with a customer than to source for new
customers.

18. Extracting keywords from email data using distributed word vectors, the goal of keyword extraction
is to identify the most relevant words within a corpus. By successfully identifying these terms, it
becomes easier to condense the conceptual information contained in these documents into a short
list of unambiguous and specific words. This is especially useful for extracting information in large sets
of documents, like Wikipedia, or very dense, technical corpora, such as a set of scientific papers.

19. Energy Consumption Monitoring, daily basis house hold power consumption.
20. Electronic Watchman for Smart Home Automation, Electronic Watchman for Smart Home
Automation project is specifically implemented to ensure high security in home using
security with the help of micro controller, and electric home appliances automation.
This project is aims to make home Automation and security system. The home appliances
are controlled automatically through the sensor with the help of Micro controller.
