Application versatility
The GASMET™ Gas Analyzer is a powerfulinstrument that can be used for a diverse rangeof applications. It can perform simultaneousmeasurement of both organic and inorganiccompounds, as well as analyze hot, wet, corrosivegas streams. Measurement capabilities range fromlow concentrations of µg/m3 up to percentagelevels. Concentrations of several differentcompounds can be measured within seconds.A corrosion resistant sample cell can be heatedup to a temperature of 200°C, eliminating theadditional need for complicated sample dilutionor water vapour removal systems.
Inherent long term stability
The calibrations are based on a physicalconstant - the absorption coefficient of a gas.Thus calibrations are not only constant overmany years, but can also be transferred betweenanalyzers. Calibration checking thus becomes aroutine procedure with little or no need forcorrections to be applied.

Excellent interferometer stability makes itpossible to measure spectra up to 64 000cm-1. The above figure shows a portion ofan emission spectrum of a Mercury lampmeasured by the Temet Interferometer witha spectral resolution of 0.1 nm @ 250 nm.This performance is unmatched by anyother commercially availableinterferometer.
The Temet Interferometer is the mostreliable one on the market today. During themanufacturing process, each interferometermust pass extensive shock and temperaturestability tests (±20° C) without anydecreases in modulation. The Temet Interfer-ometer is so rugged that it can even exceedmilitary vibration test standards (MIL-SDT-810C, part f).

A high temperature gas cell with no movingparts gives superior mechanical stability. Allsample contact parts are Gold or Rhodiumcoated for optimum corrosion resistance.Fixed pathlengths for accuracy and reliabilityfrom 4 cm up to 10m.
The Gold coated one-piece cell mirror isprecision machined by diamond cuttingto provide excellent long term calibrationstability.
Temperature controlled, low noise DTGSand MCT detectors provide excellentsensitivity. Liquid nitrogen is not neededto achieve precise measurements.
Compact (200 x 400 x480 mm), light-weight (16 kg) design for portability.

The high signal-to-noise ratio of theGASMET results in accurate measurementsand low detection limits. The attachedfigure shows part of a typical noisespectrum with 20 seconds measurementtime and standard GASMET configuration.Results show 0.0001 A.U. rms noise within2000-2200 cm-1 spectral range.

The advanced, easy to use CALCMET™software provides outstanding analyticalperformance. CALCMET™ analyzes the samplespectrum, operates the GASMET™, andcontrols automated sampling system units.CALCMET™ uses sophisticatedmulticomponent algorithms to enhanceanalysis specificity, allowing simultaneousdetection, identification and quantificationof up to 50 different gas components.
The CALCMET™ software supports continuousmultipoint, on-line applications. When theGASMET™ is equipped with a suitablesampling system, it has full capability forautomatic and remote control operation.The software processes the results into arequired format and offers advancedpossibilities for multipoint sampling withadjustable alarm settings.
CALCMET™’s ability to automatically carryout spectral identification enables accurateanalysis to be performed without detailedstream composition information. Thesoftware is also designed for easy andefficient processing of the results. Sincewater content of the sample gas is meas-ured, the results can be reported on either a“wet” or “dry” basis.
The GASMET™ measures both organic andinorganic gases in concentrations fromµg/m3 to several percentages. Crossinterference effects are compensated forand analysis accuracy is maintained whenanalyzing complex gas mixtures withspectral overlapping. Accurate results areavailable within seconds. Stored spectra canbe easily re-analyzed for identification ofpreviously unknown components.
ApplicationsThe GASMET™ on-site series ofgas analyzers allows the power oflaboratory FT-IR to be taken tothe measurement site ina rugged and portableform. This allowsmulticomponent,real-time measurementsto be made on-site.Furthermore,the user has onlyone instrumentto calibrate andmaintain. Thusthe maintenanceand operationcosts will remainlow in comparison toconventional singlecomponent analyzers.
