Gardner's Park Tea House celebrates the second Mayor of Fort Myers Rev. William P. Gardner and Family. Arriving to Fort Myers in 1885, the Gardner Family purchased twenty-four acres in the heart of the City of Fort Myers. Some of the only 332 residents, they engaged in fruit growing and established the Seminole Canning Company. This became their guava canning factory, canning guavas and making fruit conserves, jellies and marmalade. The Gardner's provided the finances for the first electric lighting plant. Electric Lights were turned on January, 1898. The following day, January 2nd, William Philbrick Gardner passed away, having lived to see his important local utility plant into successful operation. In 1901, the family put into operation the first ice manufacturing plant. They called the operation Electric Light & Ice Plant.Rev. Gardner's family, R.H. Gardner, Son Albertus Alphonso and Daughter Miranda Melvina went on to change Fort Myers and Southwest Florida for many years to come, including achievements in combating fire prevention and water supply. Our tea house sits inside the Gardner's Subdivision of the Downtown Fort Myers River District. We would like to thank the Gardner's and many other influential settlers that made the City of Fort Myers what is today. Please help us celebrate the amazing achievements of some of our earliest settlers and visit Gardner's Park Tea House. "Where Friendships Bloom!"

Teas served hot or iced

Black Tea

Black tea is the most familiar tea type to North Americans and Europeans. The popular Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Orange Pekoe are all black teas.

Green Tea Green Tea, best known for its grassy vegetal notes and greenish liquor and leaves, is quickly

steamed or pan-fired to denature the oxidizing enzymes, and to preserve its characteristic freshness.

Herbal Tea Herbal Teas includes everything one can possibly steep or infuse in hot water that does not

originate from the tea bush, Camellia Sinensis. This means that herbals are, by definition, not tea; rather they are more precisely called "tisanes".

Oolong Tea The oolongs are a first cousin once removed from the black teas. Oolong tea is partially oxidized

to lie somewhere between black and green. While the look is more along the lines of black teas, the taste is closer to the green teas, but with a touch more oomph for a well-rounded flavor.

White Tea The least processed teas are white teas. White teas contain only the buds and very young leaves

of the tea plant. As a result, they are rarer and often more expensive. Their straightforward, yet delicate taste and health profile, similar to green teas, have helped them burst onto the Western tea scene in recent years.
