Welcome to the 2nd edition of the Gangzta Mozart magazine. It’s hard to believe that it’s only been 6 months and two magazines, it feels like we’ve been here forever It’s hard to believe that it’s only been 6 months and two magazines, it feels like we’ve been here forever and yes, we’ve worked our asses off! Definitely props goes out to the core team who have worked tirelessly to make this edition a reality: Trav, Ayo, Aaron, Rondelle, Yolanda, Bonez and Atiba, the Highway Re-cords family who has had our back from day 1, Anika Vashti Huggins our marketing consultant who linked us some crucial pieces and our newly incorporated promotions team Emile Jobity and Demizon of Socios Promotions.

For us, the initiative began with a desire to create avenues for hip hop in Trinidad and Tobago. We felt that there was so much talent and potential that the general public was not aware of or knew very little of… we wanted to bring TnT hip hop to the world! And luckily, our online advantage allows us to meet this goal.

Our second major goal was to create a forum for communication within the industry. The reality is that Our second major goal was to create a forum for communication within the industry. The reality is that in the industry we tend to get so caught up in doing our own stuff with our individual crews that it is easy for us to become fragmented and disassociated with the wider hip hop community. Many of the issues faced in the industry demand a unified approach to achieve progress and as such we can see that some sort of common forum is necessary to allow for proactivity and positive change.

To this end we intend to empower our artistes and producers to want change and to take those actions where necessary to demand that their rights are not violated and to ensure that they receive just compensation on such occasion where this is the case.

Ethics in the industry is another area of concern for us. We are all aware of right and wrong but some-times extenuating circumstances put us in the position where the benefits to our own progression may outweigh any moral inclination we may feel and we are tempted to go in that direction. From smaller misdemeanors to bigger issues, ethics should be considered as the epitome of professionalism and protocol in the industry and not open for negotiation. For the betterment of all and the solidarity of the industry towards advancement, there is no other way. Gangzta Mozart promotes ethics.

We must of course say thank you to the members of the industry who have welcomed and supported Gangzta Mozart and who have understood our mission and believed in our vision because they too share the same and want to be a part of the change that is coming.
