• Objective: Implement a Gamification System and Strategy for the NJ State Library for the Blind, online fundraising initiatives.

• Problem: NJ State Library for the Blind has in the past been unable to meet their fundraising goals, and has had to rely on very limited state funding which has caused them to limit and/or cutback on the services they supply.

• Most people feel good about donating to a Charity, but life can get in the way and individuals can become distracted. While supporting a cause is a good thing, sometimes people need an extra push or incentive. This is where Gamification can help the NJ State Library for the Blind achieve their fundraising goals.

• Target Audience 2 Player Types: - Socializers: They feel good about helping others and developing a network of friends and contacts. - Achievers: Focus on attaining status (as a charitable contributor) they want to do all they can do to help; while they help they will be achieving goals (points, rewards, badges) within the system. Status is another perk for an achiever.

• We will implement 3 Gamification mechanics into our system, with the objective of increasing participation, collaboration, and loyalty to meet fundraising goals.

• How to Solve

• 1st Gamification Mechanic: Points• A points system incentivizes action – if supporters get a certain of number of points they receive rewards, either physical or virtual User’s would earn point for donating, fundraising efforts, volunteering, uploading content.• We will Incorporate a social network where people can collaborate

and share ideas while earning points. This will encourage people to reach out to others, thus bringing in more interest and donations.

• 2st Gamification Mechanic: Badges• Users would receive a badge for donating a certain amount, volunteering, getting newcomers to participate, coming up with new ideas. This is great way to identify status, expertise.

• 3rd Gamification Mechanic: Leaderboards• Encourages competition, gives user instant feedback as to where they stand

in the system. Users can see what level they are currently at and how many points it will take to get to the next level.• Will also include challenges ( i.e. donation amounts, ideas that are adopted,

adding helpful content, volunteering) to add incentive so people can progress up the leader board quickly.
