After knocking off the previously undefeated Voyagers each of the last two nights, the Osprey look to win a third straight game and inch across the .500 threshold for the first time iin 2017. For Missoula, they are scheduled to tab left-hander Franklyn Soriano as their starter for Sunday’s game. After pitching just one inning against Billings on Tuesday, Soriano figures to be fresh. Following a scoreless inning on Tuesday, Soriano’s night was cut short due to a 42-minute rain and lightning delay at Dehler Park. For the remainder of the game, the O’s treated Tuesday like staff day in the process of winning their first game of the season, beating Billings 5-3. MUSICAL ROSTERS On Sunday, the Osprey announced their latest roster change, subtracting right-handed pitcher West Tunnell. Tunnell’s departure comes one day after seven players were subtracted and four were added. The O’s have made 16 transactions in the last three days. Refer to the final page of the 2017 Missoula Osprey Game Notes for a full list of transactions POWER OUTAGE At the end of the 2016 season, Missoula’s total of 90 home runs in 75 games was the most in the Pioneer League, 2 home runs better than Ogden’s total of 88. The next closest team was Orem, who hit 56 homers. The O’s power production last summer was the second-best in franchise history, ceding ground only to the 2011 squad that hit 94 homers in 76 games. So far in 2017, however, the Osprey have struggled to hit the ball out, notching hust two home runs in their first six games, currently the lowest total in the Pioneer League. Thursday night’s homer for Luis Lara ended a drought of more than 33 innings between home runs REVIEWING THE HOMESTAND Missoula strapped up in front of the home crowd for the first time in a brief two-game series on Friday and Saturday, sweeping Great Falls in a pair of competitive games. First on Friday, the two clubs combined to score 35 runs, as Missoula came from down 15-10 to score nine consecutive runs from the bottom of the sixth through the bottom of the eighth. Incredibly, the Osprey scored 19 runs on Friday without hitting a single home run. In lieu of the long ball, Missoula’s lineup combined to hit nine doubles and a triple, totaling 10 extra-base hits. Saturday offered a vastly different game, focused on pitching instead of scoring and poor defense. Luis Madero threw a career-high seven innings for the Osprey, setting down 14 consecutive batters at one point en route to earning his first win of the season. Center fielder Eduardo Diaz tripled twice, driving in runs on each occasion. The second of Diaz’s triples broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the 7th inning, putting the Osprey in front for good, eventually winning 5-4. BRING ‘EM HOME! Entering their series with Great Falls, the Osprey had hit an abysmal .235 (8-for-34) with runners in scoring position, limiting their run production to just 19 total runs in their season-opening four-game set with Billings. In two games against Great Falls, however, the O’s have exploded at the plate with runners on base, hitting a combined .485 (17- for-35) with runners in scoring position. On Friday night alone, the Osprey were 14-of-27 at the plate with runners in scoring position, which was a major factor in the club’s ability to post 19 runs without a homer. UPCOMING PROMOTIONS Tuesday, June 27th is “Beat Billings” night at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field when the Osprey host the rival Billings Mustangs for the first time this season. DRAFT DAY D-BACKSThe Arizon Diamondbacks made 41 selections in the 2017 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Beginning with the #7 overall selection, the Diamondbacks made a pattern of favoring college players over their prep counterparts, with the only exceptions coming in the late rounds. Of their 2017 draft picks, the Osprey received news on Friday that 10th-round pick Ryan Grotjohn, 14th-round selection Keshawn Lynch, 19th-rounder Ernie De La Trinidad, and 20th-round choice Dominic Miroglio would be joining the O’s. Yesterday the Osprey greeted four additional members of the Diamondbacks’ 2017 draft classes, all pitchers. Lefty Abraham Almonte (26th round), and right-handers Cole Stapler (22nd round), Jimmy Johnson (17th round), and Jeff Bain (16th round) all joind the Osprey in advance of their Saturday night game against Great Falls. The latter four actually arrived in Missoula just two hours before game time following a series of flight delays. Despite their travels, two of the four new additions (Stapler and Almonte) actually made their professional debuts, each throwing an inning.

PLAYER PROFILE...• 21-year-old right-hander is beginning his first season in Missoula

and third professional season overall.

LAST OUTING...Did not factor into the decision of Missoula’s 5-3 win in Billings on Tuesday, June 20th. In one scoreless inning in which he surrendered a pair of base runners, Soriano received a defensive lift from Andy Yerzy when the catcher threw out Satchel McElroy trying to steal second. After the conclusion of the first inning, the game entered a 42-minute rain and lightning delay, leaving Soriano on the bench and ending his evening prematurely.

2016 SEASON RECAP... Pitched the full year with the Arizona League D-backs, beginning the season as a full-time starter and then moonlighting between starting and relief work in the season’s second half. Soriano enjoyed more success as a reliever, posting a 3.48 ERA in 20.2 innings out of the bullpen compared to a 6.00 ERA in 36.0 innings as a starter... Thrived during the second half of the season, which coincides largely with his move away from a full-time starting role.

CAREER...Debuted in 2014 with the DSL D-backs, pitching in 13 games (all starts) and going 6-4 with a 2.70 ERA, .192 opponent batting average, and strikeout-to-walk ratio of 76:22... won career-high 6 consecutive decisions from 6/26/14 to 8/1/16 where he allowed just 3 runs (2 earned) in 40 innings (0.45 ERA)... in 26.0 innings during the 2015 second half, went 4-1 with a 0.69 ERA allowing a batting average of .138
