Introduction

This book was written and financed by the use of my incredibly simple system, which allow you to know how not to get rich but to be able to financially survive. This book is also dedicated to the people who have experienced that empty pit in their stomach, when out of sheer desperation they have gambled away the money they had to pay for the electricity bill, in a desperate attempt to also pay their phone bill. Remember society will have no mercy on you if you don't pay your bills and pay your debts on time, unless of course you are a banker. So if you are not a banker then what do you do? Waste money on Lotteries, in a desperate attempt to solve all your financial problems in one go. Do you know that the odds are bigger than being the one person selected from all the people in the equivalent of 200 Super-Bowl stadiums. In other words the chance is more than 20 million to 1 and as someone who has played the lottery more than 25 years, I sure have never even earned the price of a bankers lunch, let alone a bankers salary.

Page 4: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

So you want to win the lottery, do you?

Well, these are just some of mine collected over 25 years and I have come to the only logical conclusion that this is not a good deal. Even though I think I can be the luckiest person I have ever met, I have never won enough on a lottery to buy a bankers lunch. And why?

Because you have more chance of surviving a plane crash in the morning, only to get struck by lightening in the afternoon. In other words the odds are more than 20 to 30 million to 1. However, it can a serve a purpose to buy just one row in the Lottery, with your family's birth-dates as an example.

Even though the lotteries are nothing more than a tax on the poor, in times of great financial need, it gives

Page 5: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

you some hope. A chocolate bar can give you satisfaction for half an hour, but one lottery ticket can buy you hope for a few days. A single row of numbers is just as good as each of 100's of rows. The only difference is that if buy 100's of tickets, your chances are winning are increased to the likelihood of being the one baseball fan out of 3 Super Bowl stadiums to be picked. If you only buy one ticket, then it's like being the one picked from 300 Super Bowl stadiums. One row or a hundred rows, either way the chances of winning are still astronomical. Which is why mainly the poorer people in society play the Lottery as rich people would never accept such impossible odds. However somebody has to win each draw, and if you don't have a ticket you can never win...

This short book is not about playing the impossible odds, but to understand how the HemmingWay system works and how to play for lower risk odds. I can help walk out of a casino with the same feeling as I regularly do. To experience satisfaction and relief, knowing that I have earned another months rent using a casino's money. I can tell you it feels good, really good.

So, did I get your attention? if you want this to work for you and your friends, and can resist getting too greedy then you will need to pay attention now. I am going to teach you how to treat a casino as your employer. So that you minimise the risks of losing your own money and if you ever get to the position of being able to take a large risk, then at least you will be gambling with the casino's money - so if you lose it, it's not yours! Losing your own money is a disaster to be avoided as much as possible.

Page 6: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

I can show you how to do what other people would call gambling but I call 'earning money the HemmingWay'. Be warned, you should consider telling as few people about your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins.

Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your own stake money. Gambling is all about taking a calculated risk, but it is still a risk. You risk losing your money... that is how casinos work. People lose more money than they payout. Statistically you will lose some of the time. That is what makes games of chance interesting as the outcome is not certain. If you cannot live with losing any bets then this book is not for you. Your goal should be to maximise the return you can make from your stake bet, with a low as risk as possible. It is not to win every game you play!

After reading this book you will learn some basic rule:

1. You will understand and learn why you keep losing at a casino

2. Why, what other's see as a gambling addiction, is actually more about getting back the money that you have already 'invested' in the casino

3. How you can reduce losses to a minimum by sticking to your own rules

And the most important thing you will learn is that you can walk out of a casino with a big smile on your face, TIME after TIME after TIME.

Playing casino games i.e. gambling is all about luck

Page 7: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

which can be affected your personal confidence, your alertness, your observation powers, your ability to follow trends, and finally a small amount of luck!

I can't tell you how many times I have seen a Roulette table totally covered i.e. a chip has been placed on every single number available except for example, the number nine, and of course number nine has come up and everybody lost everything bet.

So for your first lesson, if you play the Roulette table and you have some casino money to gamble with already, then I would cover that very lonely number 9. And guess what? Lonely numbers actually come up surprisingly often as the odds of any number are statistically equal.

This book is primarily covers Roulette but also covers the the other major casino games like Blackjack. Did you know that Blackjack has a hidden enemy fighting you. Often your biggest enemy on a Blackjack table is not the dealer, it is the player sitting next to you, who is ruining the game for everybody as he doesn't know how to play the game properly. Your first rule for Blackjack is to only ever join a Blackjack game after observing the other players to see if they know what they are doing. This is the reason I strongly recommend you read and understand the basic rules for Blackjack to ensure the enemy on the table is not you!

So to summarise, if you read the full version, you will know how the major games work, before you begin to lose money. How to be patient, observant, recognize trends and take advantage of these opportunities when

Page 8: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

they present themselves. You will learn how to keep your personal losses to a minimum and how to be able to walk out of the Casino with more money in your pocket than you entered with. There is no magic formula guaranteeing success unless you own the casino. You still need to read, learn and practice but I can make the process simpler for you.

The psychology of gambling

What is Gambling? Gambling is nothing more than playing games of chance, where you believe that your personal magnetism, inspiration, intuition etc gives you the lucky numbers this time. It should be fun and it should produce financial gains, but of course in the main, it does not, because a casino always wins, statistically over 92% of the time.

As long as one retains a healthy mental attitude to playing these games i.e. gambling doesn't become an addiction, like alcohol and drugs often do, then you have a chance to come out a winner. A gambling addict is a person who believes that they can solve their problem using the same techniques and playing the same game, but expecting to get a different result. This will get you into trouble quickly and can destroy you and your family if this behaviour is continued.

Gambling is a game of BIG NUMBERS, statistics and luck. She is a lady who can be extremely fickle and can ruin your life with one spin of the the wheel. But on the other hand if you show her the respect of a real lady and do not demand too much at one time, she can be unexpectedly extremely generous.

So the next time you walk into a casino make sure you look and feel like a winner. Combined with the discipline to follow 'the rules', you have a chance to walk out a genuine winner i.e. with more money in your pocket, than you went in with. Even if you lose some money you should still have a good time in the process so enjoy the ride and don't worry about the destination

Page 10: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

as you will get there in your own time. Treat gambling with the respect it deserves, never go to the casino more than three days in a row and if do have a bad day and lose money then do not return for at least a week. Personally, I don't return for at least a month and then only when my intuition tells me it's a good time to return.

Page 11: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Preparation for a visit to the casino

1. Listen to your intuition. Does it feel like a good time to test your luck in a casino?

2. Treat your visit as a first date, so dress to feel and look like a winner

3. Memorise your personal six favourite numbers which you feel will bring you luck

4. Learn the 'Neighbours' on a Roulette wheel of the six numbers favourite numbers of yours

Mine are: 1, 16 & 33 and 28, 7 & 29 (which are next to each other on the table)

5. Don't forget to take your number cards with you, more about these later in the book

6. You need to be alert, as there is nothing worse than losing money on one table while the table next to it is 'running like a dream' and you missed it, because you weren't paying attention. So my advice would be not to indulge in too much alcohol, if you really want to win. Besides its much more fun to celebrate afterwards, when the Casino is picking up the tab.

Page 12: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Gambling with the casino's money & how to manage it to end up a winner

The objective of using this systematic approach to playing Roulette is use the casino's money to gamble and win, not to use your own.

Q. So how come, when after winning 6 times in a row, you can still end up losing?

A. Because you are usually winning small amounts from betting taking lower risks and then betting more on higher risks or making more multiple bets you are losing it all. Often this is done without removing the money you began with from the winnings pot you have, so you lose the money you won plus the money you came in with.

However the following rule is probably the easiest rule you should follow to avoid this scenario

For example if you put 2 x $10 chips on the red, because 2 reds have come up already and you are betting on that run of reds continuing, based on the state of the wheel which will be described later.

1. Red comes up again and you win $20 - Take one chip away, which means you are now only $10 down from your initial money or stake, with $30 on the table.

2. Red comes up again and you now have $60 on the table. You now take another chip away so you have your own money back in your pocket, but

Page 13: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

also you now have $50 of the Casino's money on the table!

3. If red does not come up again, you have won nothing, but you have also lost nothing, because you still have your original $20 in your pocket. If it does come up again walk to the table, pick up your $50 win and leave the other $50 on the table. Now all you have to do is sit back and relax and just hope that 10, 11, 12 or even 13 reds come up in a row which happens much more than you would ever think. Every time it does, you put another $50 in your pocket, without it costing you a penny. Great fun and this same mental rule can also be applied to Blackjack.

Page 14: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Knowing when to stop

The most difficult thing when gambling in a casino is to know when to stop playing and leave, regardless of whether you have won or lost.

1. If you are wise you will have taken enough money with you to the Casino to play 30 times with your basic stake. For Roulette the minimum stake can be as little as $2, but even chance bets, such as RED or BLACK are nearly always $10. So whether you are playing Roulette or Blackjack, a stake of $300 with a maximum of 2 hour playing time is recommended.

2. Make yourself a goal not to make of unlimited wealth on your first bet, but to win 5 to 10 times your original stake in the space of a few hours.

3. Be prepared to LOSE this money, because even with the best strategy in the world things many not roll your way. Be smart and know when to come back at a later date to try again.

4. Once you have your original stake of $300 back, plus let's say another $200 of the Casino's money to play with, go to the Cash Desk and cash those chips into real Pounds, Dollars or Euros and put them away in your pocket. This should be done every time you have won enough to cash in another $300 - $500. Chips are abstract tokens and you will spend them quicker than you will want to change real money into chips.

5. Once you have lost 3 times in a row consider if this is a good time to stop, because it usually is. Whatever you

Page 15: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

do, never touch the casino money you have already put in your pocket until you are outside the casino, otherwise you will almost certainly lose all of it. Why? Because that is the way casinos work. People spend more money than they win over a period of time.

Page 16: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

HemmingWay rules for Roulette

Advantages of playing Roulette

1. Once you have had enough luck to have some Casino money to play with, you have a chance to win 10 times more than you could at playing Blackjack and in half the time

2. You actually see the ball rolling and you feel you are playing a real game of fun, more so when playing with Casino money

3. You have a much bigger range of betting possibilities, with winnings from 2:1 to 35:1

4. You can move around and play at different tables, even at the same time, if they are 'flowing'

5. You can bet on your own personal / favourite / lucky numbers as you desire

Disadvantages of playing Roulette

1. A lot of temptation to place too many bets, where at best you make 2:1 and at worst you lose everything

2. Sometimes it is crowded and frantic, making it difficult to get near the table and you may miss opportunities

3. You can lose a lot of money very fast without realising it especially if you don't see the chips as cash

Page 17: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

4. You do luck or you need to understand what is going to happen with the wheel and just follow it. If red has come up 3 times, never assume that it's time for black to come up as 9 or 10 reds in a row more often than you would think.

5. If you are playing American Roulette and you are playing with the table's own coloured chips, you are stuck to that table and are more likely to try to 'weather a losing streak', instead of checking out what the other tables are doing

Getting to know the Roulette wheel

The Aim of the Game

A Roulette table has 37 numbers (38 numbers in the U.S. because of the 00) from 0 - 36. The winning number is the number where the ball falls, after the wheel has spun around around 20 times, by the croupier giving it just one spin. To win the game you must place chips of any value between $2 and $1000 on the winning number, numbers or colour that you thought would win.

What you can win

1 Number = 35x2 Numbers = 17x 3 Numbers = 11x4 Numbers = 8x

Page 19: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

6 Numbers = 5x12 Numbers = 2x18 Numbers = 1x

After every spin of the wheel, the croupier pays out on the winning numbers, starting with the lowest first (2x), as no one plays 18 numbers.

Example

The wheel is spun and the number 7 comes up, which is RED, an ODD number and falls under the 1-18 categoryIf you have played '7 with Neighbours' (more on this later), you have a bet 1 chip on number 7, plus its two neighbours to the left (i.e. 29 + 18) and its two neighbours to the right (i.e. 28 + 12). You need 5 chips to make this bet, which in this case will win you 35 chips for winning, less the other four chips you lost. This will give you net winnings of 31 chips

1 chip on 7 pays .........................35:11 chip on 7/8 pays.......................17:11 chip on 7-9 Row pays ................11:11 chip on 7/8/10/11 pays................8:11 chip on 7-12 (2 rows) pays............5:11 chip on Column 7-34 pays.............2:11 chip on RED, ODD, and 1-18 pays....1:1

Getting to know your 'Neighbours'

Just ask the croupier for '7 with the Neighbours', and he will place the bet for you on a special part of the table, reserved for him, for playing the Neighbours game.

Here we are playing 'number neighbours'

With this bet a number may be bet along with the 2 numbers on either side of it in a 5 piece bet. For example, "17 and the Neighbours" is a 5 chip bet with 1 piece straight-up on 2, 25, 17, 34 and 6.

There are other neighbour possibilities but I do not recommend you play these yourself as the odds are not in your favour.

• Voisins du zero ("neighbours of zero")

Voisins is the name for the numbers on the wheel which are between 22 and 25 which include the numbers 22 and 25 themselves. The series is 22,18,29,7,28,12,35,3,26,0,32,15,19,4,21,2,25 (on a single zero wheel or French wheel). 9 chips or multiples of 9 are bet. 2 chips are bet on the 0,2,3 trio; 1 on the 4/7 split; 1 on 12/15; 1 on 18/21; 1 on 19/22; 2 on 25/26/28/29 corner; and 1 on 32/35.

• Tiers or “Tiers du Cylindre” ("the third")

Tiers is the name for the numbers between 27 and 33 including 27 and 33 themselves. The series

Page 23: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

is 27,13,36,11,30,8,23,10,5,24,16,33 on a single zero wheel or French Wheel. 6 chips or multiples of 6 are bet. 1 chip is placed on each of the following splits: 5/8; 10/11; 13/16; 23/24; 27/30; 33/36.

• Orphelins or “Orphelin Cheval” ("orphans")

These numbers make up the two remaining number of the wheel outside the Tiers and Voisins. They contain a total of eight numbers, the Orphans comprising 17,34,6 and the Orphelins being 1,20,14,31,9.

5 chips or multiples of 5 are bet. 1 chip is placed straight-up on number 1 and 1 chip on each of the splits: 6/9, 14/17, 17/20 and 31/34.

Possible outcomes

1. If RED 7 or any one of its 4 Neighbours (2 either side) come up, with a 7 to 1 chance. You have laid 9 chips on the table (normally ten, but in this case BLACK 28 and 29 are on the same row, so you can cover them both with one chip): Your Net Return will be 34 chips (winning 35 for the Plein - the Full number and another 11 for the Row, minus the other 8 chips you lost). If this happens, play 7 with the Neighbours again, because it only needs to come up 3 times in a row and you can go

Page 25: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

home, with $1000 more in your pocket, than you came in with.

2. If BLACK 8 , OR BLACK 10, come up or any of the other direct neighbours on the table comes up with a 3 to 1 chance, i.e. on the same Row as the Neighbours on the wheel, then your Net return will be 1 or 2 chips (winning 11 for the row, less the 9 or 10 used to make the full bet). This is of course not a great Win, but it is a Win and it keeps the cash flow going, so I would call this a covering bet or win.

3. If any other number comes up, you will Lose 9 chips (and often 10). So in order to cover for this, it is wise, if you can see a definite pattern in the Colours, or the other Evens chances (Bet 1, Win 1), then play this as well. But if you lose 3 times in a row on the same table, my advice is to either leave that table and try your luck and skills on another table, have a drink or go home and try another day.

More tips when playing Roulette

1. Table Choice

Sometimes your luck will be at one table and sometimes it will be on different tables, if you have luck at all on this particular day. In fact the worst case is what happened to me while writing this book. I had just lost the last of my stake money ($150) at one table only to walk by another table 3 metres away which would have won me $1200 in about 20 minutes, because it had been running like a dream - 15 blacks, which using my 'system', would have been $500 pure profit plus the number 1 came up three times in a row, making another $700 profit - AND I MISSED IT..........

2. Coloured Chips

If you sit down to play at an American Roulette table, you will be asked by the croupier if you want to play with your own coloured chips. I normally choose not to, simply because you cannot use them on any other table, which ties you to the one table you are playing on. The other reason is that because real betting chips have numbers on them which represent their value i.e. $5 or $10, but the coloured chips seem just like toy money and somehow seem to be much easier to bet with, than the normal ones. So I normally avoid them, unless I have decided that this is MY TABLE i.e. the table which is going to help me multiply my original stake up to ten

Page 27: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

times within an hour.

3. Breaking a losing streak

If you have just had a major loss i.e. you are losing your stake money or you have had three losses in a row, my advise is to go off and have a drink, because if you lose everything in one go, you can't come back and you should never and I repeat never go and get more money out of a cash machine, in a desperate attempt to get your original stake back, you will lose. Guaranteed. It just seems to be a Law of Nature, that once 'Lady Luck' have said NO to you winning on that day, they mean it. So please be warned.

4. Gambling too long

If, you are on a winning streak, capitalise your winnings often i.e. cash your chips in for real cash regularly, never expect it to go on for ever, because it won't. Furthermore, playing Roulette and Winning requires you to be alert and concentrated and the longer you play, the more tired you get and my advice would be stop after losing three times in a row. Of course if you add alcohol to this situation, you are almost certainly going home a loser. So my advice is that if you want to go home a winner, restrict your casino visit to a maximum of 2 hours on one day and not to go and try and test 'Lady Luck' too often.

5. Losing Money at the Roulette table

Page 28: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Standing next to a Roulette table with chips in your hand can be like standing next to a vacuum pump when you have got loose papers in you hand and losing money just goes 3 times faster, than winning money and if you are not careful and you limit your own stake to either $150 or $300 as I advise in this book, you can lose it all in 10 minutes. Leaving you out of the game, with no chance of getting back to a winning game. I once lost $280 from my £300 stake, but came back with my last $20, to a point where a half an hour later I walked out with $1000 and all because the wheel started doing what I wanted it to do at the last moment

6. Wait and watch, before you start playing

You walk into the Casino and the temptation is almost too much. I know that when I see a red 7 for example, I can't resist at least one chip on the 7 and a split bet on the 28 and 29 (my three favourite numbers), but this means that I am GAMBLING WITH MY OWN MONEY. And not only that, but this only has a 11:1 chance of coming up. Of course sometimes it does, otherwise I wouldn't be writing this book, but most of the time it doesn't, and taking risks like that when you have no idea how the table is running, is what I call BLIND GAMBLING, which can turn out to be very dangerous to your financial health.Think about how many chips you are placing on the table

Covering the table with chips because you are on

a roll, because with roulette it is not about how many chips you lay down on different combinations, its about reducing the odds of 36:1 down to between 2:1 and 7:1 i.e. more a game of dice, where you need to throw a 6, instead of having to throw a 6, with a dice with 36 sides. Which I am sure you will understand, is not easy

7. All you need is to gamble and win the Hemming Way

All you need is for your combination of bets to come up 3 times in a row and you will be laughing. If it only comes up twice if will give you breathing space to wait until it does and some Casino money to gamble with

8. Patience is a virtue, but always follow your intuition

A table which is running exactly the way it is supposed to i.e. totally randomly, is very uninteresting for this system. And a row of twenty numbers, which have recently fallen, which shows no more than one or two instances of 'Neighbours coming up and where there is no more than 3 Reds, Blacks, Odds, Evens etc in a row is a very difficult table to play on and should be avoided.

But at the same time, if you are tuned into your intuition, listen to it, because you won't believe how many times I didn't do that, how much money I could have won. And could have won is

9. Winning is great fun, but losing is hard and healthy lesson.

They say there are 2 basic types of people in the world. There are those who crave predictability and stability and hate taking risks and there are those who enjoy that feeling of adrenaline and excitement when you drive fast in an open car. And for the first group who always stick to the speed limit, because they are afraid they will get caught, gambling and playing Roulette is not for you. But for the others, it's about enjoying the thrill of driving fast without getting caught or crashing and this systematic approached which I have outlined here in this book could have you winning more often than you would normally would, whilst keeping your losses to a minimum. And my advice is, that when you do win, (hopefully 2 or 3 times out of 5), you should really appreciate it and enjoy it and put maybe $300 aside in an envelope for the next time you feel like going to the Casino to 'earn' some money'. Then you will be playing with the Casino's money straight away, instead of having to risk your own

10.Winning and losing

You will need to be prepared to lose or come out even, most of the time, in order to gain occasional good wins

11.Anecdote

The worst case of gambling stupidity at a table I ever experienced, was in Las Vegas, where a rather arrogant and muscular young man was betting the same amount on both RED and BLACK at the same time. Most unusually the croupier said to him: "Far from wanting to interfere in your game Sir, but you do realise you are betting against yourself." To which the young guy replied: "Mind you own business", not so politely, at which point the Zero came up making sure he lost both his bets, much to the amusement of everybody at the table.

HemmingWay rules for Blackjack

First of all, let us begin with the logic as to why you would want to play Blackjack, as each game in a Casino has its advantages and disadvantages

Advantages of playing Blackjack:

1. You get to sit down, normally with your own playing box

2. You have less temptation, because you usually only make one bet unless you bet on your neighbours box too

3. Easier to control your money as you bet slower than a Roulette table.

Disadvantages of playing Blackjack:

1. Limited winning opportunities

2. No history available as to what happened before you arrived like Roulette

3. Dependant on the skill of the other players

4. Croupier wins more often than players

5. You can win often and still end up losing out overall

There are 3 basic 'rules' to Blackjack, but although this book has not been primarily designed for the Blackjack player, the same gambling strategies also apply to it.

Page 33: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Not knowing how the game works is opening yourself up to a financial disaster, unless you are one of the really lucky people in life. There are many books written on the game of Blackjack and if it is your game, then I would advise you to read one of them. However any 'guaranteed winning strategies' where all you have to do is to remember the order of 312 Playing cards i.e. 6 packs, are never going to work. So please be aware of books that promise you massive wins all the time.

Blackjack Rule 1

Always assume that the dealer will pull a 10 as his second card.

Blackjack Rule 2

The dealers card determines how you play

Example 1 - Dealer has a 6 and you have 12 on the first cards. What do you do? The answer is to 'Pass' and hope that the dealer pulls a 10, taking him to 16, which means any 3rd card he pulls over a 5, will make him go bust, so everybody wins.

Example 2- Dealer has a 10 and you have 14. What do you do? You must take a card, and take the risk that your card is lower than a 7. Because if you don't, the Dealer is highly likely to pull a second 10, get 20, and only pays out to anyone with a 21. You lose the majority of the time if you don't go for it anyway.

Blackjack Rule 3

Page 34: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Only Double i.e. double your stake, when you have a 9, 10 or an 11 and when the dealer is showing a 6 or less. Because if he has a 10, and the one card you have paid extra for is only a 3, you will end up with 12 and the dealer will probably pull another 10 and get 20, which means that have just doubled your losses.

In my experience when the table is 'flowing' the dealers way, there is nothing much you can do, except to walk away.

Q. Why should you always assume that the dealer will pull a 10 or an Ace as a second card?

A. Because 24 out of the 52 playing cards i.e. almost 50% of the cards are either a 10, a Jack, a Queen, a King or an Ace.

Check-list before you go to the casino

1. You have between $150 and $300, which you are prepared to put at risk to give you a chance to earn 5 to 10 times this amount

2. You are in the right frame of mind and you are clear-headed

3. You have chosen your 4 favourite numbers and you have learned what their 4 neighbours are (i.e. you have a Roulette table card ready with 20 numbers marked on it.

4. You have your Roulette Number cards with you then you are ready to go...

Page 36: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Arriving in the casino

1. Take a deep breath, relax and visualise yourself walking out a winner, maybe for the first time ever

2. Relax, wander around and just take a look at what each Roulette wheel available is doing

3. Understand the 4 States of Movement of the Roulette wheel

1st State of the Wheel:

The Roulette wheel is out of balance and it either keeps coming back to roughly the same place, 2,3, or even 4 times in a row (perfect for playing Neighbours)

N.B. Some European Casinos are kind enough to show the last 20 numbers on an electronic board behind the table. They even tell you in the last 300 spins, BLACK has come up 60% of the time

2nd State of the Wheel:

The wheel is moving to the Left i.e. from 0 to 26 and on to number 7

3rd State of the Wheel:

The wheel is moving to the Right i.e. moving from 0 to 32 and on to number 4

4th State of the Wheel**: The ball is moving around totally at random, without any pattern

Page 37: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

If you see State No. 4, do yourselves a favour and go and play Blackjack or even go home, because unless you are extremely lucky, you will almost certainly lose your entire gambling stake and you will go home with nothing.

4. If you lose 3 times in a row, the ball is jumping, you would be wise to leave the table and take a rest and wait until it settles down again or you find another Roulette wheel, which is doing what you want it to do.

**This is of course the state the wheel is supposed to be in all the time, but because it a mechanical device, it needs permanent maintenance, which of course is not something a Casino does every day, especially if it is open 24 hours a day.

Page 38: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

Now it's time for you to start winning

The man principle of the HemmingWay strategy is to follow trends and to never bet against what the wheel is coming up with, because remember over nine reds in a row is not uncommon, so all you have to do is make sure you are there, with your money on the table, right after the 2nd or 3rd red has come up.

Then all you have to do is sit back and relax and collect your winnings every few minutes, depending on how many people are playing on the table. The main rule here is, the lower the minimum stake for a table, the more people who play on it. People like me, they don't want to lose all their own money in one go. Of course once your original stake is back in your pocket in cash, then play whatever table that gets your attention i.e. one of your favourite numbers just came up.

The key to to remember when playing the wheel, is that if you bet on everything, you will probably end up with nothing in the end. And if you have 20 chips on the table and only red comes up, you have just lost 19 chips, and even if you do win on a FULL NUMBER like 7 @ 35:1, you only actually end up with less than doubling your money, i.e. you would win more playing even chances like 'RED/BLACK' or 'ODD/EVEN' or '1-18'/ '19-36'.

The even odds game

• RED - BLACK• EVEN - ODD• 1-18 - 19-36

The 4 States of the 'Even/Odd' Numbers

1. Totally random, with no recognizable pattern with 10 spins

2. Clumping together in pairs i.e. RED, RED, BLACK, BLACK, RED, RED etc

3. Alternating one after the other i.e. RED, BLACK, RED, BLACK etc.

4. A run of RED or BLACK, which keeps going on and on, especially when you catch it, after 3 in a row and it goes on to 12 or more. Then, you get a 0 (where you lose half your stake) or a few REDS. And then you get another run of 8 or BLACKS. (This is a joy to see, especially if you are using the Casino's money, to win even more of the Casino's money.

The EVEN-ODDS game is of course also valid for RED-BLACK and HIGH (19-36) or LOW (1-18) bets. They all follow patterns and if you are unfortunate enough to be in a casino, which doesn't give you any history visually, then the only other way is do it, is the old-fashioned way by writing it down on paper. Takes a long time but gives you an insight into the bigger picture.

Remember the minimum bet is normally between 2 and

Page 40: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

5 times the minimum straight bet for the table. On a $2 table, this would be a minimum of $10 and for the $5 and the $10 table, the minimum will be $20.

Tip: Follow what is happening and never bet against what the Roulette wheel is doing, but go with it:1. Red, Black, Red, Black - Play Red, Black2. Red, Red, Black, Black - Play Red, Red and then Black3. Red, Red, Red - Keep playing Red, until the run stops and just hope it gets up to 10 or more.

Page 41: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

One winning strategy

1. 2x$10 Bet on REDRED WINS $20 + $20 = $40 Put $10 back in pocket

RED WINS

2. $30 Bet on REDRED WINS $30+$30 = $60Put 2nd $10 back in pocket

You are no longer gambling with your own money, because you are betting with $50 of Casino money, because the $20 you started with are now back in your pocket. And if you don't win this next time, then you have won or lost nothing, so you can try again when you feel the flow is right.

But if:

RED WINS AGAIN

3. $50 Bet on RED $20 stake in pocket = +$70

RED WINS AGAIN

4. $50 bet on RED$70 in pocket = +$120

5. $50 on Table with $120 in pocket

So let's now play the 4:1 game and go home a winner!

Page 42: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

If you observe a table and you see neighbours coming up more than 1 in 10 times and you see one of your 4 numbers (in this case a 7), maybe it's a good time to trust your luck and play the '7 and the Neighbours', by giving the croupier 5 chips. He will then place them on a special mini-table, which is specifically designed for players to play neighbours.

However, you would not believe how often after a 7 has come up, an 8 has come up next, or a 26 has come up after a 25. So to cover my bets I play not only the 5 neighbours (i.e. 18, 29, 7, 28,12), but I also play the FIVE rows that the neighbours are in (i.e. 7-9, 12-15, 28-30, 18-20)*

* 28 and 29 in this case share the same row, so this bet can be covered with only 9 chips, instead of 10

Page 43: GAMBLE THE HEMMINGWAY...your gambling as possible, as many won't share your joy regardless of your wins. Even if you fully understand and adapt my system you will LOSE some of your

The winning possibilities

1. The best possible:

One of the 5 neighbours comes up i.e. the 28, for which you 'earn' 35 chips (plus your stake, but it is always advisable to leave it there).

Not only that, but you also win another 11 chips for the 28-30 Row you bet on. So for a total outlay of 9 chips (of which you get 2 of the chips back, you win 46 chips, which works out at a very decent 4:1 return on your money

2. The next possibility is that the 8 comes up, which is physically next to the 7 on the table, but of course not on the wheel. For this 8, you will get 11 chips + stake back from the croupier and you have still have won 30% more than when you placed the bet

3. The 3rd possibility can and does happen and often, and is when the wheel jumps from one of your favourite neighbour groups to another group of your favourite neighbours (i.e. from a 7 to a 1, in this case) and then back again. In this case you lose and it is very wise not to do this more than 3 times, otherwise you will almost certainly not be going home a winner. Which is the name of this Game.

GOOD LUCK

Remember to gamble wisely and consciously and make sure you never bet with someone else's money, unless it comes from the casino.

Acknowledgement from the author

This book could never have been written, if it hadn't been for a man I once met called Mr Rainer H. A man of genius, who had spent thousands of hours studying the wheel in all its forms and facets. His 'System, which couldn't fail was, big, complicated and too difficult to carry out in practice on a busy table. However after seriously adapting it and applying it's principles to a simple strategy which really does work for me, where when I lose, my losses are minimal and when I win (often 6 times out of 10), I leave with a magical feeling of having 10 or even 20 times more money than I went in and all in an hour or so...
