Silver Electrode: RG-004

If you are plating very large items or are a regular user of silver plating solution, thenusing the silver electrode will save you a considerable amount of money. It is made ofelectrolytic-grade, 99.9% pure silver. It dissolves in the plating solution replacing thesilver that is plated out on the work. Laboratory tests have proved that using thiselectrode can give you an overall financial saving of between 40 and 50 percent. Pleasenote that this is the electrode only. The picture above of the electrode assembled in thewand is only for illustration.

Carbon Electrode: RG-005

Carbon Electrodes are a low cost alternative to the platinum electrode. The do howeverdeteriorate over a period of time and discolour swabs, though the discolouration does notaffect the plating quality.

Copper Electrode: RG-006

To plate copper alkali or acid please use this copper electrode.

Conductivity Tester: RG-011

The conductivity tester allows you to check that your work is conductive before you start,by simply touching its surface with the probes. If the needle clearly moves, then it isconductive and you can go ahead with plating. The tester is particularly useful if youintend to plate things made of brass or gold plated bathroom taps. These items are oftencoated in an invisible, non-conductive layer of lacquer which is applied by themanufacturer to reduce tarnishing.It is also essential when plating on plastic to check that your painted silver layer isconductive.

RG-024 A Expansion Box for RG500/1000:

The main advantage of the new improved switched Expansion Box is that itallows you to move seamlessly through the brush plating process, without having toplug and unplug the connections at the rectifier. All you have to do is flick a switch, ifyou want to reverse the current for chrome stripping. Another useful new feature is a

flashing red light which warns you when you are in stripping mode. This helpsprevent one of the most common problems in brush plating; going into the activation

stage with the electrical current flowing in the wrong direction, which can causedamage to the work. And of course, not having to stack the connections at the

RG-035: Metal Preparation:

A useful addition to our product range is Metal Preperation surface conditioner.

This has a unique formulation that removes even the most stubborn of siliconeand hardened waxes and includes a cleaning agent to help prepare the surface forplating. It also has a polishing effect that will assist in brightening the item to beworked on. Once the MetalPrep stage has been completed, you should go throughthe cleaning and activation stage or rub with Metal Prep Ultra prior to starting theelectroplating sequence.

RG-036 RG-037 Metal Polish Ultra:

MPU is a compound developed to be rubbed onto the work piece with clean tissue

and has many different uses a few of which are listed below:

Can replace the need for cleaning and activating saving both time andmoney.

Is ideal for clearing burn or other marks produced during the processenabling the operator to simply rinse and continue the plating process.

RG-038 RG039 Metal Polish Ultra Fine:

MPU Fine is as the name implies; a fine version of our MPU. It is ideal whenworking on thin flash coatings of gold as it removes the minimum of metal. If

further plating is required, just as with Ultra, then all you have to do is wipe wellwith a clean paper towel and continue plating.As the particle size is no more than the wavelength of visual light, there is nochance of leaving any scratch.The scratch-free property of MPU makes it excellent for polishing very softsurfaces such as gold and silver plate. Even the smallest solid contaminant on aswab or final polishing cloth will produce a scratch in gold and silver. MPU finepolishes these scratches out whilst protecting the properties of the plated layer.

RG-040: Cover Stick for partial plating:

Bring it on the surfaces which you dont want to plate. Let it dry. Than you can plate only the

conductive surface. After that you can rub it down.

RG-044 Elektrocleaner:

We have put considerable research into developing a cleaner that, like thechrome stripper, does not attack paint. Cleaner is the product and performs

wonderfully. Used with power, it lifts the most stubborn of dirt and helps reduceoxide layers prior to activation. This product is usable on all substrates and doesdoes not mark or damage the surface as some other cleaners do. Used at around10 - 12 volts, Cleaner is also very good at removing tarnish from silver and thinoxide coatings from copper and brass.Please note: Real Golds cleaner does NOT contain caustic soda - sodiumhydroxide - which is corrosive and dangerous. It does not attack or stainpaint.

RG-045 Chromeremover:

Real Gold has developed a chrome stripping solution that is non-corrosive and,due to its low hazard rating can be safely used in a tank. When used with the

Power Rectifier, even the thickest of chrome deposits are removed with ease andefficiency. The same can be said of this unique product when wand stripping, it isextremely fast with minimal effort and produces excellent results. When chromestripping, you can miss out the power cleaning stage as the stripping stage alsoprovides ample cleaning action.Please note: Real Golds chrome stripper does NOT contain caustic soda- sodium hydroxide - which is corrosive and dangerous. It does notattack or stain paint.

Activator is a good, general-purpose chemical for removing the strong oxide layerthat forms on nickel and stainless steel. Some conventional activators are verycorrosive. Without compromising safety, we have managed to blend a strongeractivator with all the necessary strength to get the job done. At Real Gold, wepride ourselves on selling what we believe to be the least hazardous activator forbrush electroplating on the market.Please note: Real Golds activator does NOT contain hydrochloric acid

RG-051 53 24 Karat Goldelektrolyt:

Our Gold Plating Solution has been formulated to be one of the hardest wearingand fastest gold brush electroplating solutions available. This fact, coupled withits fantastic coverage makes it our best selling product. We incorporate apreservative into the mix which gives it a very long shelf life leaving the gold inthe the solution and not at the bottom of the bottle as with some other goldplating chemicals.

Gold content: 8 grams per litre

RG-053 A K-Gold:

K-Gold has been developed primarily to be combined with our range of mixers to enable theplating of different shades of gold including the classic yellow gold - formed by mixing K-Gold withYellow Gold Mixer that forms the 18 and 9 carat gold commonly found in jewellery.

Another popular shade is rose gold, formed by mixing K-Gold with Rose Gold Mixer; green goldcan be plated by mixing K-Gold with Green Gold Mixer. By combining two or more mixers, a vastarray of coloured gold can be electroplated.

K-Gold plated on its own forms a soft 24 carat gold layer.If plating onto nickel or its alloys, a gold flash undercoat will have to be plated first.K-Gold is completely free of cyanide.

Gold content: 10 grams per litre.

RG-053 B Goldflash:

A number of plating processes require a thin undercoat of gold prior tosubsequent plating. An example of this is when silver plating onto stainless steel,nickel and its alloys. In response to requests from our customers, we havedeveloped a low-cost, 100% soft gold that plates a thin undercoat of gold whichmakes an ideal key for subsequent plated layers; this is know in the trade as aflash layer. Please note that this solution should only be used as an undercoat;the plated layer is too soft and thin for any other application.

RG-058 - RG-059 alkalisches Kupfer:

Our Copper solution plates to a beautifully lustrous finish. It can be mixed withBronze Mixer to produce different shades of bronze from red bronze through tobrilliant white bronze. White bronze is increasingly becoming accepted in thetrade as a replacement for nickel as it allergen free.

RG-063 Tin:

Tin plating is used to protect ferrous (surfaces that can form rust) and non-ferrous surfaces. It is used in the food industry for coating cooking utensils as tinis non-toxic. Real Golds tin solution is a high speed brush plating solution platinga non-brightened highly ductile deposit. The other main application for thissolution is in the electronics industry.

RG-064 - RG-065 Zinc:

Zink is a good layer to protect steel and other surfaces of corrosion.

RG-067 Tin-Zinc:

Our latest development in alloy plating solutions is one that plates 70% tin and

30% zinc. Our tin zinc alloy plating solution is an environmentally friendlyalternative to cadmium plating. It is two to three times more effective thancadmium and up to ten times better than zinc. The picture opposite illustrates theeffectiveness of the process. Tin/zinc can also serve as a base coat for gold whenplating on to steel and iron parts. Tin/zinc plates dull, but can easily be polishedto high lustre with MetaPrep, MetaPrep Ultra or the Hand Polishing Kit.

Tin/zinc has the following main advantages:

An excellent alternative to highly toxic cadmium.

Very good corrosion resistance

Excellent solderability Very ductile Plates a uniform thickness, even in recesses.

RG-067 A RG-067 B White Palladium:

Our White Palladium Plating Solution plates a bright white layer, making it a greatalternative to rhodium and bright chrome. Its hardness also means its a good

flash coat over silver, slowing down wear and tarnishing.

Added to this, at a thickness as low as 0.25 microns, it can be used as a veryeffective barrier to stop gold migrating back into copper when gold plating copperand brass. This makes it one of the most multi-functional plating solutions wesell!

RG-068 RG-069 Silver Cyanide Free:

Our silver is unique in its design and development. Real Gold has developed asilver brush plating solution that is totally free of cyanide. It Plates bright and notdull grey as is usual with these solutions. This alleviates the requirement for post-plate polishing. Our new formulation also fills in minor scratches which also savesa great deal of time in preparation. With this low-hazard silver plating solution,you will be able to plate everything from antiques through to electricalcomponents. It also has a very long shelf life. In fact, one operator, who wasreturning to the business, reported that he was using a bottle that was five yearsold!

RG- 070 Silver for Pen Plating:

Silver Pen Plating Solution is a highly concentrated electrolyte specially developed

for all applications involving pen plating. With this solution, you will be able tobuild up layers of pure, stress-free silver in excess if 5 microns without having tocontinually replenish the pen. At a plating voltage of 5 volts, allow for a platingrate of 0.5 micron-per-minute.

Silver concentration: 75 grams per litre.

RG- 071 - - RG-072 Chrome Part A and B

Our Chrome Plating Solution comes as a two-pack system labelled Part A and PartB and is designed to be mixed using our mixing kit, which is available on ourshop. For plating on stainless steel, we recommend you first plate a thin layer ofgold with Gold Flash then plate chrome with a carbon electrode.Spectacular results can be achieved with our chrome solution, but we must pointout that it is best suited to plating small items such as taps and door handles, asin the photo opposite. Chrome Plating Solution is not suitable for plating steel orzinc, re-chrome work or any parts that are going to be exposed to the elements.

RG- 073 RG-074 Black Chrome:

Black Chrome plating solution - a popular finish on mobile phones and otherpersonal devices - is another innovative brush plating solution developed by ourchemist at Real Gold. It is a truly spectacular finish and should be considered asan alternative to black rhodium. Like our chromium plating solution, BlackChrome should be plated at 8 volts and and ambient temperature of 25 degrees Cusing a platinum (preferred) or carbon electrode.

RG- 075 RG-076 Platinum:

To plate a good layer of platinum.

RG- 077 RG-078 Palladium:

This solution is an ideal low-cost low-hazard replacement for platinum platingsolution. Palladium is an excellent barrier layer and can be used in place of nickelwhich brings it into compliance with the latest EU directives for nickel-freejewellery.It is possible to plate our palladium up to three microns thick without colour shiftor loosing brightness. We recommend a carbon wand, or preferably, a platinumelectrode is used for plating this solution. Palladium content: 10 grams per litre.

RG- 079 Yellow Gold Mixer only to mix with K-Gold:

This solution can be mixed with our K-Gold solution to create shades from 9 carat

gold up to 22 carat. You will be able to accurately match your plate with theoriginal shade on the piece of work you are renovating, or recreate any of theshades that are now so highly popular in the jewellery and antique business. Thisproduct is a replacement for our original gold mixer.

Please note that that Yellow Gold Mixer must be used with K-Gold only.

RG- 080 Bronze Mixer:

Just like the other mixer solutions we sell, Bronze Mixer can be added to ournew copper solution to create a beautiful shade of freshly cast bronze. This brandnew solution, exclusive to Real Gold, has been introduced as a replacement for

nickel plating solution. Nickel is now banned by the EU for use in the cosmeticindustry, as it causes nickel allergy in some people. White Bronze is the idealsubstitute for nickel plate, where the surface of the metal is likely to come intocontact with the skin, such as on costume jewellery or on spectacle frames. Themain uses are listed below.

A replacement for nickel to stop nickel allergy.

Replaces nickel for use as a barrier layer when electroplating gold ontocopper or brass.

Makes an excellent key layer when plating silver onto pewter, Britannia

metal or other high-tin alloys. Is similar in hardness to nickel with the electrical properties of silver but

with superior corrosion resistance. White bronze makes an excellent undercoat for

black chrome.

As with our other mixer solutions, you have the same flexibility to create theexact shade of bronze you require. At a low mix ratio it plates an attractive goldshade (2N) of bronze, a white, tarnish resistant coating which resembles nickel.The highest ratio is more like bright chrome.

RG- 081 Rosegold Mixer:

Simply add Rose Gold Mixer to K-Gold to plate fabulously warm, lustrous tonesof rose gold.All you need to do is mix the two together to create just the right amount of solution youneed. We recommend you buy the mixing kit to make sure you measure out the correctratios.A 1:10 mix will give you a darker shade of rose gold commonly used for easternEuropean jewellery, while a mix of 2:10 gives a mix not too dissimilar to highly polishedpure copper, however this one does not tarnish.

If plating on to stainless steel, nickel or its alloys, first plate a layer of 24 caratgold to give a good, solid base on which to plate your Rose Gold layer.

RG- 082 Green Gold Mixer:

This is one of the latest additions to our product range. It is now possible to platemost shades of gold including green gold. This solution can only be mixed withour K-Gold to form beautiful shades of green gold. The great advantage of mixingthe it yourself is that you have full control over the shade of gold plated from alight lime green tint to green gold sometimes referred to as antique gold. It is of

particular use when plating jewellery and the inside of metal ware objects such aschalices, sugar bowls and napkin rings. You will also need the Mixing Kit tomeasure out the correct ratios of gold to mixer.

RG- 083 White Gold Mixer:

This solution, which is added to K-Gold, allows you to plate hardened white gold.It is completely free of nickel and can be used in all applications where the item islikely to come into contact with skin.White gold, despite its name, is grey in colour. For this reason it is usual to topcoat with palladium, rhodium or platinum.White Gold Mixer, in smaller volumes, has a bleaching effect on gold. It can alsobe used to lighten rose gold forming a light pink colour.

It should be plated at 4 volts using a ratio of 2 parts mixer to 10 parts K-Gold.We highly recommend the plating is carried out at room temperature.

RG-084 Thickener:

Thickener powder may be added to any of our solutions to thicken them up. Theresulting gel is ideal when plating car badges and bathroom taps in-situ whereyou want the solution to stay on the work and not run away.
