SPRING/SUMMER 2016 – CALL FOR WU UNION OF STUDENT ARTISTS LOOM Coworking is a dynamic and collaborative work environment in downtown Fort Mill that will be filled with entrepreneurs and independent creatives from across York County and south Charlotte. It will also include substantial rotating exhibit space for local artisans called GALLERY@LOOM. In August, our first professional exhibit will be by Marge Loudon Moody, internationally known artists and Winthrop professor. Call for Artists ‐ Our first two exhibits are meant to highlight community and student artists. These shows will hang during the months of June and July in our interim facility. Selected works will be highlighted on the LOOM Coworking website and a reception will be held during one of the summer’s Fort Mill First Friday events. Additionally, GALLERY@LOOM will partner with participating artists to actively promote the show via social media. Guidelines ‐ If you would like to be considered for this GALLERY@LOOM student exhibition, please see the submission instructions below and submit your art for consideration no later than midnight on Monday, April 25th. Submission is open to all members of the Winthrop University Union of Student Artists. Work Media: 2D media; Unframed canvases or framed works Work Size: Min 1’Wx1’H; Max 4’H; Max 15lb Entry Requirements: Digital images (JPEG) of up to three works may be submitted via email (using Dropbox) to [email protected] no later than midnight on Monday, April 25 th . File names must include artist and piece name (ex: jbelk_stilllife.jpg, jbelk_collage.jpg, etc.) Email must include: Artist bio (3‐4 sentences regarding background, education, interests) Preferred contact information For each piece: Artist Statement including media Sales price (if applicable; LOOM will not sell but will connect student artists with interested parties) Size of piece Notification to artists: Artists will be contacted via email by Friday, April 29 th . Accepted Entries Due Date and Delivery: Entries must be dropped off to 118 Academy St, Fort Mill, SC during the hours of 9:00am‐3:00pm Monday, May 2 nd thru Thursday, May 5 th . Accepted Artwork must be installation‐ready (wire or saw tooth hangers), must match the accepted entry description, and have the artist and piece information adhered to back of piece.
