International Yoga Day Gymkhana, Panchavati Campus on 21.06.2019

International Yoga Day with the theme: Yoga for Climate Action was celebrated by the
staff and students of AIISH on 21st of June, 2019. Yoga was performed in the Panchavati
campus of AIISH gymkhana by the trained person Dr. Santhosh M, Associate Professor in
Speech Sciences, with a short orientation program on Yoga and its importance in day-today
life.
54th
Annual Day of AIISH on 9th
August 2019
54th Annual Day celebrations of AIISH were held on 9th August 2019 at AIISH seminar
Hall, Knowledge Park, Naimisham Campus. Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS, Principal Secretary,
Department of Planning, Programming, Monitoring and Statistics, Government of Karnataka,
Bengaluru, Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore, Mysuru and
Sri. Rishab Shetty, Cine Director and Actor, Bengaluru were the distinguished guests and Dr.
M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH presided over the function. Dr. Mysore Manjunath,
internationally renowned violinist and Sri. Prashanth, Cine Actor, Bengaluru were the notable
guests for the function presided by Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH held on the evening
of 9th August 2019 at AIISH Gymkhana Auditorium, Panchavati Campus.
On the occasion of 54th Annual Day celebrations, retired employees, employees who
completed 25 years of service were felicitated during the function held on the evening of 9th
August 2019. Our students and tiny tots with special abilities mesmerized the audience with
their talents at the cultural evening that followed the inaugural function. Glimpses of the
same are here. Dr. Mysore Manjunath, internationally renowned violinist, and Sri. Prashanth,
Cine Actor, Bengaluru were the eminent guests for cultural program held at AIISH
Gymkhana Auditorium, Panchavati Campus. Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH presided
over the function.
Independence Day 2019
Independence was celebrated on 15th
August 2019. Mr. Lawrence Sam, Account
Superintendent, AIISH was the Chief Guest and Dr. M Pushpavathi, the Director, AIISH
presided over the function. Several cultural programs by the pre-school children, their
caregivers and students/Staff of AIISH along with a march past parade by the security
personnel were carried out to mark the event.
Ganesha Chathurthi Celebration: Ganesh Chaturthi festival was celebrated in the AIISH
Bodhi hostel organized by the students of boy‟s hostel on 2nd
September 2019. Eco-friendly
Ganesha idols was placed for pooja and celebrated the festival by inviting all the staff of the
institute.
Teachers Day Celebration: Teacher‟s Day was celebrated on 5th
September 2019 at AIISH
Knowledgme park, to mark attribute to the contribution made by teachers to the society.
Various events were organized by the studnets of AIISH to thank Teachers for their
tremennous work.
Open Day
Open day 2019 was celebrated on 19th
and 20th
of September, 2019 to showcase the activities
of the institute to the general public. The main motto of the open day is to create awareness
on the services of the institute for the differently abled children and others with
communication disorders as well as functionaries of the institute to the public. This year,
institute was open to public for 03 days (Day 1: Parents of the students; Day 2:
Relatives/Neighbors/Friends of the employees, Day 3: Public, School children and College
students). Open day was inaugurated by Sri V Somanna, Minister of Housing Department,
Karnataka and Smt. K Jyothi, IAS. We had students from 19 colleges with an overall count of
909 participants outside the institute.
Diwali and Onam Celebrations
The festivals of lights, Deepavali and Onam were celebrated in the Kapila girls hostel
organized by the Students of girl hostel on 27th
Oct. 2019 and 22nd
September 2019. All the
staff and students had joined for the celebrations and graced the occasions.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day)
The students and staff of the institute observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity
Day) observed on 31st Oct. 2019 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar
Vallabhbhai Patel and took the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge.
GRADUATION DAY 2019
AIISH hosted the graduation day on 14th
December 2019, in the Seminar hall, Knowledge
park, Naimisham campus. The function was to award the certificates to the outgoing
graduate, post-graduate, doctoral and post doctoral students in the field of speech and
hearing. About 110 students received their degrees. Prof. S. Vidyashankar, Hon‟ble Vice
Chancellor of Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru was the Chief Guest and delivered
the graduation day address. Dr. Anil Kumar, Deputy Director General (Deafness),
Directorate General of Health Services, MoHFW, New Delhi was another Chief Guest who
presented the gold medals. Prof. B. Rajashekar, Former Dean-MAHE and Professor – Dept.
Speech and Hearing, Manipal College of Health Professions, MAHE, Manipal was the Guest
of Honour and led the graduates to take their oath. Prof. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH
presided over the function.
Republic day 2020 and inauguration of the Annual Sports Competition of AIISH
Gymkhana: Republic Day was celebrated on 26th
Jan. 20202. The national flag was
unfurled by the Chief Guest Sri. Vasudevan, S., Ex-IAF and Retired Superintendent of
Customs & GST. Republic day was marked by Cultural events by Special children of the
department of Special Education, Staff and Students of the institute. The winners of various
competitions for promoting Swachh Bharath Abhiyan were felicitated. The Annual Sports
Competition of AIISH Gymkhana was declared open by the Chief Guest, Sri. Vasudevan
followed a “Tug of War” (Staff vs. Students). This followed by official breakfast.
International Women’s Day (Ethnic Day and Holi)
AIISH Gymkhana celebrated International Women‟s day as ethnic day on 10/02/2020. The
staff and students of AIISH wore ethnic clothes on 10th
Mar. 2020. Further, an exhibition-
display and sale counter of Mysore Silk saris in collaboration with KSIC Mysuru was
organized on 11th
-12th
Mar. 2020 at the institute premises.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Dandiya night
On the occasion of “NaadaHabba DASARA”, Dandiya night event was organized on 11th
of
October, 2019. Dr M Pushpavathi, Director inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp.
DANDIYA Dance competition was conducted.

Kannada Rajyothsava, “Barisu Kannada Dinddimava 2K19” was inaugurated by the Director

valedictory function on the 29th
Nov.2019. Various events were held on 1st Nov, then from

Christmas & New-Year
AIISH Gymkhana organized welcoming new-year 2020 on 1st January 2020 and also
Christmas celebrations in the evening. All the staff and students were invited for the cake
cutting ceremony and cultural programs were conducted in the evening as part of the
Christmas celebrations.
Inter-collegiate cultural fest: AAWAAZ 2020, AIISH cultural fest
Flash-mob
As part of the publicity act for AIISH AAWAAZ-2020, students held a “flash-mob” at the
Mall of Mysore on 15th
February 2020 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The students and staff
attended the event.
The AIISH AAWAAZ-2020, a three day cultural fest was held from 28th
Feb. to 1st Mar.
2020. It is an inter-collegiate cultural fest was organized by the AIISH Gymkhana. It provides
a platform for students from different colleges to display their excellence in talents by
participating in competitions such as Fashion show, Quiz, Group dance, and many other on
stage and off-stage events. The competition was witnessed by the premier leaders in the
related fields from the city of Mysuru as they take their places as jurors for the events.
AIISH AAWAAZ-2020 was inaugurated by the popular and famous multilingual Cine Actor
and Singer, Sri. Vasishta, N. Simha at 6:30 PM on the 28th
Feb.2020. The Chief Guest, Sri.
Vasishta Simha enthralled the young crowd with his performance. The third day evening saw
the conclusion of the cultural fest with a valedictory program wherein the winners of various
individual events and the over-all rolling trophy were awarded the “Best Team/ College”.
Smt. Indira Nair, an alumnus of the institute and noted theatre and cinema actor was the Chief
Guest on the evening of 1st Mar. 2020.
1. Annual Sports Competition
Mysuru Inter-collegiate cultural fest:
Students of AIISH had given enomrmous oppurtunity to represent AIISH and to participate in
various cultural and sports events organized by the Government of Karnataka, University of
Mysore and other colleges.
MAHAM 2020, organised by Mahajanas College held on 07/02/2020 – 09/02/202.
Particpated in Fashion show compeititon.
MICA fest organised by MICA college held on 10/01/2020. Participated in Group
Dance and Fashion Show events.
Farewell
Farewell for outgoing batches of students of Master‟s, Bachelor‟s and Diploma programs in
the Seminar Hall, Knowledge Park 25/04/2019.
AIISH Gymkhana appreciated the Staff members of AIISH for serving the institute by
organizing the superannuation program/farewell program for both regular and contract
employees. The following staff member has been superannuated/bid farewell in the reporting
year.
Sri. Suresh C B., Special Educator, Dept. of Special Education - Served the insittue for 13
years on contract basis and resigned 10th
June 2019.
Dr. Pebbili Gopi Kishore – Assistant Professor in Speech Pathology - Served the insittue
for 9 years on contract basis and resigned 10th
July 2019.
Felicitation for the superannuating staff
Sri. Anandaram G H, Stores Purchase Officer (Regular) who served the insittute for 35
years superannuated on 29th
November, 2019. Smt. Maniamma, Cook (Regular) served the
institute for 29 years and superannuated on 29th
November, 2019. A farewell program was
organized to felicitate both the staff on 29th
November, 2019.
AIISH Gymkhana organized a farewell on 29th May 2020, to felicitate the superannuating
faculty and staff of the institute adhering to the "Guidelines on preventive measures to
contain spread of COVID-19 in workplace". Prof. Asha Yathiraj superannuated on 31st May
2020 and Smt. Uma Rosalind Monica superannuated on 31st March 2020. However, Smt.
Uma Rosalind Monica was unable to attend the function. Glimpses from the farewell to our
beloved Prof. Asha Yathiraj.
Outgoing Students of AIISH: Staff and Students of the institute organized farewell
program, to the group of young outgoing students (Diplomas/Undergraduates and Post-
graduates), after completing their academic carrier at the institute. Farewell program for the
outgoing batch 2019-20 was organized at AIISH Knowledge Park on 25th
April 2019
Condolence meeting
Condolence meetings in the memory of the departed staff members who had put forth their
service to the institute were paid last respect at AIISH campus.
1. Smt. Kavitha, N., Artist cum Photographer, Department of Material Develpoment
expired in road traffic accident on 12th
Aug. 2019.
2. Shri. Ramesha, MTS, Stores Section expired owing to health issues on 23rd
Nov. 2019
The institute remembered the noted politician former Union Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj,
who departed on 7th
August 2019.
B. Sports events
AIISH GYMKHANA encourages its members to get involved in extracurricular activities to
stay fit and provide a healthy working environment. Several sports events have been
organized by the GYMKHANA members in the reporting year.
1. AIISH Short Cricket Premier League (ASPL)
ASPL was conducted on 3rd
and 4th

2019 for men, organized by the students of
AIISH. Dr. Sreedevi N., Professor of
Speech-Language Sciences inaugurated the
game which was funded by staff and
students of AIISH.

2. AIISH Lagori League
AIISH Lagori League was organized by the
students of AIISH from 3rd
to 4th
of August 2019
for women. Dr. Sreedevi N., Professor of Speech-
Language Sciences inaugurated the game which
was funded by staff and students of AIISH.

3. Wantei Memorial Football & Handball
Tournament
Wantei memorial football (men) and handball (women)
tournament was organized in memory of Wantei
(Student) from 30th
of August to 1st of September 2019.

Rajasudhakar inaugurated the tournament on 30th
August.

4. Dr. Kuppuraj Sengottuvel Memorial Cricket Tournament
Dr. Kuppuraj Sengottuvel Memorial Cricket Tournament was conducted for both men and
women in the memory of late Dr. Kuppuraj Sengottuvel (AIISH Alumnus) on 4th
September
2019. A total of 13 teams participated including men and women where the players for men
cricket were selected based on auction held. This event was sponsored by AIISH Alumni and
staff of AIISH.

5. Mrs. Kavitha, Dr. Kuppuraj and Mr. Wantei Memorial Photography and Art
Competition was organized in the memory of late Mrs. Kavitha, Dr. Kuppuraj and
Mr. Wantei by the Gymkhana members. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sreedevi
N., Professor in Professor of Speech-Language Sciences and Dr. Swapna N.,
Associate Professor of Speech pathology on 6th
September 2019. Theme for
photography contest was “Mother is the Best Therapist” and theme of art competition
was “I am not disabled, call me differently abled”.

6. Annual Sports competition 2019-20 - AIISH GYMKHANA conducts various
outdoor and indoor sports competitions every year for the members of GYMKHANA.
Both staff and students participate in the events organized. Annual sports 2019-20
were inaugurated on 26th
January 2020 by Mr. S Vasudevan, former Indian Air force
Officer and retired superintendent of customs and GST. A total of 22 Sports were
conducted as part of the annual sports events.
7. Fit India Movement 2020
Cyclothon: A “Cyclothon” event was conducted by AIISH Gymkhana in compliance with
the FIT INDIA MOVEMENT and to publicize the AIISH AAWAAZ-2020 on 8th
February 2020 (Saturday). The event was flagged-off by Shri. Ramesha, Head constable,
Devaraja Police Station and AIISH Director/ President-AIISH Gymkhana at 7.55AM from
“Palace Kote Anjaneya Temple” and culminated at the AIISH Gymkhana. The staff and
students of the institute attended the event in large numbers and promoted the FIT INDIA
MOVEMENT making this event a grand success.
8. Intercollegiate sports competition:
AIISH Gymkhana members are encouraged to actively participate in sports events organized
by the University of Mysore and other colleges in Mysuru.
Participated various events organized by Mysore University 2019 in the reporting
year and bagged several rewards.
1. Mr. Sanjay S, Internship student won 1Gold and 1 Silver medals n wrestling
competition held from 18th
to 20th
of September 2019. He was also selected for
University National Wrestling Competition at Haryana.
2. Ms. Architaa R S, I
M.Sc. (SLP) student won 1 Silver and 6 Bronze medals in
swimming competition held from18th
to 20th
of September 2019.
Particpated in Football and Cricket torunament in the cultulra events „Sapteniata
2020‟ organised by Sapient College held on 24/02/2020-25/02/2020.
Particpated in Cricket tounament during the curlturla fest „MAHAM 2020‟ organised
by Mahajanas College held on 07/02/2020 – 09/02/2020.
