Bar J Wrangler Concert – January 11, 2020 – 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Commons This is the biggest fundraiser for Gallatin County 4-H. Money raised from these concerts will be used throughout the year for member development, leader development and program development. In other words, this money pretty much operates the 4-H program in our county. Because this is our major fundraiser, we are asking all of our 4-H families to support this concert by attend-ing. Plan to have your own family attend or please talk to friends, relatives, neighbors or co-workers and en-courage them to support this event. Each show is an outstanding mixture of great traditional Western music and awesome comedy. This is very appropriate for families. Kids of all ages enjoy this show. In advance, reserved tickets are $25 and general tickets are $20. They is a fee of $2+ for ordering on the website. Tickets at the door are $5 more. If you need any help getting your tickets, contact Scott or Ginny Francis at 581-6843 or 581-6845. Hope to see you there. We would be thrilled to be able to sell out both shows……

Belgrade Pioneers

The Belgrade Pioneers held their November club meeting on November 7, 2019 at the Belgrade Middle School Cafeteria. We started out with committee meetings and supper, which had a fruit theme. It was very creative and delicious! After we were done with our committee meetings, we held our business meeting. Both committees brought great ideas to the table, but no motions were made. We will have a booth at the Festival of Lights in Belgrade on December 14, and we started to make plans with selling hot chocolate, cider, and coffee. We set a special committee to plan the combined Christmas party with the Shining Mountaineers. We also talked about record books and chose our meal for December: PIZZA! We adjourned our meeting and elected officers for the 2019-2020 4-H year. President: Mariah McPhee Vice President: Marlo Lottman Secretary: Madison Oostema

Treasurer: Hayes Holland Reporter: Hailey Morgan Historian: Steven Johnson III Recreation Leader: John Simpson Our next meeting will be on December 5th at the Belgrade Middle School Cafeteria at 6:00. Submitted by Mariah McPhee, President If you have any questions, please contact Shelly McPhee at [email protected] or 406-813-8515.

Daring Adventurers

Daring Adventurers will continue to meet the 2nd Monday of the month in the Animal Bioscience Building at MSU. We'll be meeting in Room 134 Oct 14, Nov 18, and Dec 9.

The club members will take turns deciding what our learning activities will be each month and if they will be associated with a specific project this year.

Dag Nabids

The next meeting will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at MSU Animal Bioscience Building (1 block south of 11th and College) in Room 134 at 6:30. Officers should plan to arrive at 6:15 to organize the meeting. Please bring a white elephant gift (<$5 or a re-gift from home) to the meeting for a social event after the meeting.

The Dag Nabids elected 4-H officers at our last meeting. We plan to create our committees and designate leadership roles (Social Committee, Fundraising committee, community services committee, and recruit/membership committee) at the December meeting. After the meeting, we discussed the 4-H pledge, motto, slogan and emblem.

Our club decided to sing Christmas carols for the residents at Brookdale Springmeadows Assisted Living Home (3175 Graf Street) on December 14 at 4p. We should plan to meet at 3:45p.

Manhattan Clever Clovers

The Manhattan Clever Clovers have grown large in the past few years, which is awesome! However, we’ve outgrown our meeting facilities so we have voted to split the club by age. In short, the MCC’s club focus and goals will be tailored to 8 to 12 years of age (2nd - 6th grade) and Cloverbuds. If you are 12 years or older (preferably 7th grade or more) we welcome you to join the Dry Creek Club (see below). Please contact Kelly Pavlik if you have questions or need more information: via email [email protected] or text/call (406) 600-1016.

Rosalyn Black, our Vice President is Caden Shockley. We also have a Secretary named Lydia Black and a Reporter (me) Kryka Shockley. One person ran for each job so it was an easy vote. At the end of the meeting we played Museum, and Sharks and Minnows.

Submitted by Kryka Shockley, club reporter.

The Gateway Challengers meet the 2nd Monday each month at the Gallatin Gateway Community Center. All ages and projects are welcome. If you have any questions contact Jessica Black (406) 539-0940 or

Shining Mountaineers

On November 4, 2019 we held our monthly club meeting. We started off with a “breakfast for dinner” potluck, and then had an ice breaker game to get to know the new members. During our business meeting we decided on having a joint Christmas party with our sister club, the Belgrade Pioneers, on December 13, 6 - 8 pm at the Belgrade Middle School. During the month we held a New Member Night to welcome and teach the new members about 4-H. After the rest of announcements the people who were nominated for offices gave speeches telling the club why they should be an officer. We elected the final people and they will start their jobs at the next club meeting on December 2, at 6 pm. We ended with making cards for Gallatin Rest Home. Teen Leadership

The Teen Leadership Project/Club has a new name! We are now the DLE: Development of Leadership Excellence! We met for our November meeting at an overnight retreat in Belgrade November 9-10. At the retreat, we planned out activities for the year in the areas of Community Service, Leadership Activities, County-wide Activities, Fund Raising Opportunities, and Social Activities. Keep an eye out as we announce the activities that are coming up!

This month we have already helped out in our first Community Service Project, partnering with the Dry Creek Teen Club and the Manhattan Presbyterian Church to shop for Christmas presents for those in need. All those who are available and interested in the continuation of this project, the wrapping party will be this Sunday, December 8th, at the Presbyterian Church in Manhattan at 4:00.

Our December meeting is TBD, so be watching for a poll in Band to determine the date and time for a Christmas-themed meeting! If you have any questions or would like to be added to the group list, please contact Shelly McPhee at [email protected] or 406.595.4774 (cell).

Shooting Sports

Thank You to our Sponsors Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports is very fortunate to have the support of many individuals and conservation organizations. We are very fortunate to be recipients of a Friends of NRA Grant for this shooting season of 2019 - 2020. We will be able to purchase and obtain the needed targets, ammunition, and equipment to serve all of our programs. Manhattan Wildlife Association and the Southwest Montana Chapter of SCI have been a tremendous supporter to 4-H Shooting Sports. They embrace the opportunity to help with youth shooting and provide the venue to offer the various shooting disciplines. Thank you to all of these sponsors. Without their dedication to youth shooting, our shooting sports program could not do what we do for the members of Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports. Volunteers needed: Gallatin County 4-H Shooting Sports is in desperate need of adults to become certified leaders in the different disciplines that are offered in 4-H Shooting. We are desperately in need of assistance in archery and shotgun. In order for us to provide a safe and educational experience, we need your help. Please consider becoming a leader. More information on leader trainings will made available as it is received. Please plan to attend. For more information, please contact Scott Francis – 581-6845. Vet Science

It was great meeting everyone at our first meeting held on November 5th. If you missed it, we talked about the project and reviewed the Welcome Handout. The group did an interactive activity learning “terms” that a veterinarian would use and afterward a survey was handed out for the kids to complete so they could choose what they want to learn about. The project will be scheduling field trips and guest speakers off of what they want to do/learn about related to vet science based fun!

The next meeting will be held January 7, 2020 at 6:30 pm, at Rocky Mountain Supply Office (not the store location) on Gallatin Farmers Ave in Belgrade :-: turn EAST at Whalen Tire where the train tracks cross Jackrabbit. We’ll learn about the Animal Skeletal system in a hands-on activity.

Please feel free to come join us whether you’re already signed up or just thinking about signing up.
