Project Title: E-Basura ang Basura

Problem Statement:

Barangay Centro does not have a method of decomposing its biodegradable waste contributing to the garbage thrown to the landfill.

Community Needs:

A new method of biodegradable waste disposition.

Objectives: • To lessen Barangay Centro’s biodegradable waste contribution to the landfill.

• To provide an easier and cleaner way of disposing bio waste

Project Title: E-Basura ang Basura

Solution Statement:

Environmental bins with bokashi will be used to decompose the biodegradable waste of 30 households in the barangay.

Outputs: 30 volunteers to make 30 e-bins, 3 hours in a day to create and paint e-bins, 1 hour mixing of e-bins per 2 weeks

Outcomes: Knowledge about e-bins and importance of biodegradable waste decomposition ; lesser amount of bio waste given to CENRO from brgy. Centro

The knowledge gained from the lecture gives more reason why we need to dispose our bio waste effectively. Lecture about it will be given during activity orientation for the volunteers/recipients of the bins.

How innovative is your project?

Very innovative because new technology like e-bin and bokashi are involved

How do you ensure sustainability?

• Volunteers and recipients will pledge that after 1 month they must be able to share the knowledge and practice of using E-bins to at least 1 person. Pledgers will be constantly reminded about their task and a follow up activity will be held 1 month after the actual day.

• Constant checking with youth leader of the barangay with regards to their bokashi production

• Use fertilizers for backyard gardens of household

• Make bokashi as a group and place bokashis in a certain area in the barangay hall so that people may be free to get there any time
