The 24th Anniversary of KUSO was held withmuch higher level on Sunday, 8th January 2017 atJnana Jyothi Auditorium, Central College Campus,Ambedkar Veedhi, Gandhinagar, Bangalore-9. Inanticipation of the participation of Karnataka GovernorHon'ble Sri Vajubhai Rudhabhai Valaji arrangementshad been made. (Due to the visit of our beloved PrimeMinister Hon'ble Sri Narendra Modiji to Bangalore on thesame day, our Governor could not attend our function).The majestic Jnana Jyothi Auditorium was almost fullright from morning with 'Early Birds' and other visitorsfrom Madurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Chennai,Sa lem, Hosur, D ind igu l , Co imbatore andrepresentatives from various Sourashtra organisations.

The celebrations started with invocation songs by

Sri R.K. Sridharan and Sri C.R. Sathyakumar followed

by Bharatanatyam dance performances by Selvi

R.B. Sangeetha and Selvi K.N. Krithiga Sonali. The

Guests of Honour and Special Invitees lighted the lamp

in front of the portrait of the Sourashtra Sathguru

Sri Natana Gopala Nayaki Swamin (whose 174th

Jayanthi Celebration also formed part of our festival).

condole the departed souls in the previous year.

Sri R.K. Sridharan, Vice-President, welcomedthe Chief Guest, Guests of Honours, Special Inviteesa n d t h e g e n e r a l s o u r a s h t r a p u b l i c a n dSri T.S. Jayabalan briefed to the audience the activitiesand achievements of KUSO during the year 2016.

In conformity with the theme of the Festival –'Virat Sourashtra Sangamam' – the audience includedguests viz., Sri Bipin Mehta from Samyuktha GujarathiSamajam (Karnataka), Sri Suresh representing TirupurGujarati Sangam and Members of Akhila Bharata andKarnataka Kshatriya Samaj and Mahasabha, in additionto our own Sourashtra representatives from all townsand cities like Madurai, Kumbakonam, Salem, Chennaietc. which made this Festival a Fore-runner of theensuing Maha Sourashtra Sangamam.

Sri K.H. Srinivas Khoday, son of our Patron formany years, Sri L. Sri Hari Khoday (Chairman andManaging Director of Khoday Group of Industries,Bangalore) presided over the function. Because theGovernor of Karnataka Hon'ble Sri Vajubhai Rudabhai

He advised that we should speak inour mother tongue Sourashtra only among ourselves.According to the wishes of his father and our years-longPatron Sri L. Sri Hari Khoday, we must meet frequentlyto have solid unity among us. He had also promised topatronize our Organisation in the footsteps of hiseminent father.

Later Sri K.H. Srinivas Khoday released theKUSO Daily Calendar for 2017 on the stage.

The Chief Guest and the Keynote SpeakerDr. Kamalesh P. Joshipura started with the statement –'Above all, I am a Sourashtrian'. He explained that theMaha Sourashtra Sangamam is to be held with one lakhparticipants at Madurai to which our PrimeMinister Sri Modiji is to be invited. This is to integrate allSourashtras from South India, Saurashtra (Gujarat) andfrom all parts of India and abroad (Non-ResidentSourashtras). He paid rich tributes to our SadguruSri Natana Gopala Nayaki Swamin who was bornand also attained Mukthi on Vaikunda Ekadashi day 174years back.

Dr. Mrs Bhavana K. Joshipura (former first ladymayor of Rajkot and Human Rights activist) wanted, in

her speech, our womenfolk to be empowered. Inthe community activities,much importance shouldbe given to sourashtraladies and to theircommitted participation,she added.
