Council of Organizations of the Ateneo Central Board Elections 2011-2012: Electoral Form

PLATFORM

2) Main Point: Two-way communication between COA and the HEC orgs. Details: This is important as the CheSTs are the liasons between COA and the HEC organizations. For this to be successful, transparency between the two should be facilitated through constant updates on the status of reimbursements (c/o Finance Officer) as well as venue reservations, updates on Central Board Meetings, and Cluster meetings. It is also important that HEC be aware of the services that COA can offer to them (i.e. ExTeams) –in this way, COA will be able to support the organizations in their endeavors. A manual of COA services can be provided; if not, a list may be emailed or posted.

3) Main Point: Utilization of organizations’ core competencies Details: HEC is composed of 4 different organizations, each with a different story to tell. The phrase “health and environment” itself denotes two separate things –the connection is not as clear-cut as we think it is. This is why it has constantly been difficult for HEC organizations to find a common ground from where they could start. An identity as a cluster that would be able to consolidate the core competencies of the organization is needed. At the beginning of the year, dialogues should be held about the nature of the organizations’ core competencies, as well as to identify how they think they fit into the nature of HEC. Mission-visio crafting as a cluster may help resolve this identity crisis.

4) Main Point: Efficient ways and means of information dissemination Details: Several avenues for information dissemination will be explored, both between the presidents and their respective EBs (Facebook groups and/or fanpage, twitter, etc.) Two facebook groups will be created: (1) For the HEC EBs and (2) for the HECtangle, HEC’s cluster core team. For all concerned, a ‘noted’ culture has to be sustained to avoid misunderstandings. A directory of each HEC organization’s EB shall be made accessible to all the HEC EBs. If possible, information on the EBs of other clusters may be provided for easier communication, as well as to foster a culture of organization collaboration. Additionally, these directories should be updated as soon as changes are made.

5) Main Point: Promotion of organization activities through COA and HEC Details: This can be done through social networking sites like facebook and twitter. Besides the COA Mail, HEC should have its own regular stream of organization events for the week / month. While COA Mail is useful, the fact that is caters to all the organizations makes certain organization events get ‘drowned out’ in the sea of other different events. Hence, a HEC fanpage and/or Twitter account should be created and promoted not only to the LS community but also to the HEC orgs. This allows the HEC orgs to be kept abreast of what’s happening to the other HEC organizations. Additionally, should the HECtangle be expanded this year (hopefully to be improved so that it fosters a culture like an ExTeam), this can be an avenue for deployment of HECtangle members to HEC events should HEC organizations lack manpower for their events.
