Built in 1928, these 6,000 gallon tank cars had three separate compartments making them ideal for transporting different commodities in the same car. These proved useful for delivering smaller, as needed loads to their customers.

Road Number 19825

This 40’ hy-cube box car with single door is red with white lettering and white diagonal stripe on the door and runs on Roller Bearing Trucks. Built by Pullman Standard in Bessemer, Alabama, as part of series 19825-19839, these 4900 cubic foot boxcars were known as “baby hi-cubes” because of their short length and taller height. Purpose built to handle loading outsized appliances, they found their way on many midwest and western roads.

These 40’ trailers are aluminum with red and black lettering. Cotton Belt Railroad, like most major roads, fielded a large fleet of trailers of different sizes that could be found attached to company trucks or loaded on purpose built flat cars for TOFC service.

With the merger of BN and Santa Fe, BNSF acquired a large fleet of these cars.

Linde is the industrial gas division of Union Carbide Company. They used exclusively designed 40’ box cars with an inner tank to trans-port a variety of their liquefied, or cryogenic, gases across the country. The inner tank was per-manently installed and it’s design allowed the company to control the temperature of the gases for up to 30 days. Our 4-Pack fea-tures four of Linde’s many different paint schemes and each car will have a resin tank inside.

Santa Fe bought 150 wood cabooses in 1923 from American Car and Foundry. These cars were numbered 1300-1449. They had a long life on the Santa Fe with a few lasting into the early 1970s. They retained the original Arch Bar trucks for their entire life. This lettering scheme was used from 1943 until retirement.
