Goal

You will be given three options for your final product. You only need to choose and

make one.

The Philippines, because of its geographical location, is vulnerable to many types of

natural disasters. It is located at the western part of the Pacific ing of fire, a most

active part of the earth characteri!ed by an ocean encircling belt of active volcanoes

and earth"uake generators.

In response to all these factors and conditions, you are to develop a strategy for

disaster preparedness and risk reduction for natural catastrophes that include

volcanic eruptions, earth"uakes and their resultant effects like tsunamis specifically

designed for #ilipinos whether in the government and private sectors or commonciti!ens.

&t.Pinatubo in 5885 caused huge damage of properties and the environment

especially in Pampanga, 9ambales and Tarlac. *undreds of people were killed and

thousands were left homeless. There are also many other active and dormant

You are the Science esearch specialist of P*I+'$S and scheduled to be

interviewed in a national T+ program on the science behind volcanic eruptions and

primarily on disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
