College of Commerce and Economics, Nagpur are committed to providing our students with a strong foundation of knowledge as well as develop their latent talents and skills. With this objective we conduct two programmes namely GS-SUN and GS-COMNEXT. GS-SUN (GS-Skill Upgradation Network) is a pre- job skill upgradation program started in the year 2013. It aims at equipping students with functional and technical skills that are required to excel in the job, market as well as the professional world. Our eminent alumnus CA Jaydeep Shah, former president ICAI is the Chairman of GS-SUN. In this program, the college conducts a six months pre- internship grooming session for the enrolled students. Communication skills and ICT training inter alia are provided during this period. Thereafter, the students undergo internship at the offices of various Chartered Accountant firms who are integral part of the GS-SUN network. The internship is spread over a period of 9 - 12 months and interns are paid stipend by the CA firms. Thus, students can earn while they learn. In 2019-20, 60 students have been enrolled for the programme. Lectures as per timetable given under have been conducted in the college but due to the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown in the month of March 2019 their offline internship with CAs was not possible.

GS-Comnext 2019-2020 Report
Inaugural:
The event was inaugurated on 28 February 2020 at the hands of its alumnus CA Shri. Jaydeep Shah, Former President, ICAI in the presence of Chairman, Shiksha Mandal, Wardha, Shri. Sanjay Bhargava, Principal Dr. N. Y. Khandait, IQAC Coordinator Pravin Yadao and Convenor of the event Prof. Akash S. Jain. CA Shri. Jaydeep Shah recalled the fond memories of his alma mater i. e. G. S. College, when he was a student here in the 1960s. He illustrated the importance of time in the and advised the students, to have a firm desire and will to succeed, courage to fight the odds, honesty and ethicality to be successful in life.
Prof. Preeti Rangari conducted the inaugural program.
G. S. Success Stories: G.S. Success Story a chat show with two of college’s successful alumni CA Shri. Yash Verma and CA Shri. Vishal Nabira, Rodi Dabir & Co. Nagpur was conducted. The event unfolded the successful lives of these two dynamic alumni who shared their success mantras with students. They both urged the students to prepare themselves for life by being optimistic, diligent, strong-willed and remaining aware of the current happenings.
Every year we focus on the most topical and current trends in commerce and industry, this year the companies to be analysed for competition were Telecom Companies. Teams had enerolled and the competition was judged by CA Shri. Neeraj Batra. G. S. College Wardha, won the first prize. Dr. N. Z. Hirani and her team worked hard to make this event successful.
Commerce Model Competition: It was inaugurated at the hands of CA Shri. Jaydeep Shah. All the students presented well and proficiently answered questions put up by eminent judges and our alumni CA Shri. Yash Verma and CA Shri. Vishal Nabira making the competition tough. Out of all the participants Mr. Karan Dahiwale from S. B. Jain Institute, Nagpur was awarded first prize. Dr. Anirudhha Akarte and his team efficiently conducted this competition.
Commerce Quiz: The team from the Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University won the first prize. Dr. Sonali Gadekar and her team together with the quiz masters successfully conducted the quiz. Prize distribution was done by the hands of our Principal Dr. N. Y. Khandait.
Debate Competition: The topic for debate was Democracy is failing as a system of Governance. Total 23 teams expressed their views in the presence of eminent judges Mrs. Sandhya Deshpande and Dr. Abha Singh. A team of Anirudhha Talegaonkar and Chetna Bhosale from Institute of Science won the first prize. Dr. D. V. Chavan and her team worked efficiently for the success of the event.
GS-COMNEXT: 2019-2020
GS-COMNEXT was launched in 2010 as a platform for promoting various co-curricular activities for students of Commerce in the city with a view to keep them abreast with the latest in Indian Economy, Commerce & Industry and to offer them opportunities through various Commerce-specific events and competitions to explore their talent and skills that are seldom tested in classrooms. The college owes the concept and genesis of GS-COMNEXT to Shri Sanjay Bhargava, Chairman, Shiksha Mandal, Wardha, who, being from industry, knows precisely what skills are required in students, besides their academic acumen, to be professionals of the top drawer and thus gave substance and shape to GS-COMNEXT which proposes to add some co-curricular dimensions to the profile of Commerce students. GS-COMNEXT, a two-day event, comprises competitions like Company Analysis, Commerce Quiz, Commerce Exhibition-cum-model/chart competition and Debate Competition. It also hosts a chat show called ‘GS- Success Stories’ wherein our young and successful alumni share their experiences with the present batch of students. As a matter of fact, GS-COMNEXT is planned to bring about an interface between the illustrious alumni and the present batch of students. The previous editions of GS-COMNEXT have been graced by such eminent alumni as Shri Nilesh Sathe (Director & CEO, LIC Nomura), Shri Sunil Manohar (ex-Advocate General of Maharashtra), Shri Manish Nuwal (Executive Director, Solar Industries India Ltd.), Shri Devesh Pendharkar (Director, Vicco Labs), Justice Sushrut Dharmadhikari and many others. The pleasure and pride with which our alumni relate their experiences and motivate present students to excel in life is indeed a great experience for one and all.
