Bhubaneswar, The capital city of Odisha, is also popularly known as the Temple City of India . Being the seat of

Tribhubaneswar or Lord Lingaraj , Bhubaneswar is an important Hindu Pilgrimage centre. Hundreds of temples

dot the landscape of the Old town, which once boasted of more than 2000 temples. Bhubaneswar is the place

where temple building activities of Oriya style flowered from its very inception to its fullest culmination

extending over a period of over one thousand years. The twin hills of Khandagiri and Udayagiri contain varieties

of rock-out caves, built mainly for the Jain monks around 1st-2nd century B.C. The thirteen years litchi record of

king Kharavela engraved in Hatigumpha (elephant cave) is a magnificent specimen of Pail records so far found

in India.

The southern banks of the river Daya and the historic plains of Dhauli were witness to some of the goriest

battles fought in Orissa. The Kalinga War in 261 B.C. Proved to be a turning point in not just the Indian history,

but also in the way people lived & believed in regions beyond the borders. The gruesome sight had a morose

and repentant Emperor Ashoka & the teaching of peace & non-violence preached by Lord Buddha. The edicts at

Dhauli are a living testimony to King Ashoka s adoption of the doctrine of Dharma Vijay, or conquest through

love, over Dig Vijaya, or conquest by the sword. Education in Bhubaneswar has gone through a sea change in

the last few years. In this beautiful city, one can find a number of leading educational and research institutes

such as; Utkal University, Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management, nstitute of Physics, Indian

Institute of Technology, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Institute of Mathematics

and Applications (IMA), International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIT), Institute of

Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) & Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology (OUAT) etc. The city

is equally enriched with many IT Giants like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Mahindra Satyam, Mindtree, STPI etc. Keeping

in view the keen interest shown by many other IT companies to establish the firm in the state, the Govt. is

planning for a 2nd Techno Park in Bhubaneswar.

The Department, which has been an integral part of the institute ever since its inception offering

instruction in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to students of the various core branches of

engineering, is devoted to foster the understanding of basic scientific principles . The academic

programs of this department are designed to meet the requirements of the fast growing technology.

The Department offers several educational programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The overriding objectives of these programs are...

To inform and motivate students to study the fundamental aspects of science and its

applications.

To teach Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for U.G. and P.G. programmes.

To enable the students to analyze and apply mathematical and scientific techniques in

engineering Technology.

The department is not only aimed to impart knowledge of the basic sciences on which further study

and research of the students rely, but also blend the future citizens of the nation with ethics and

morals that would direct them with the right a sense of direction and a purpose of living but also

blend the future citizens of the nation with professional ethics and morals

Mechanical engineering has its own importance for all the time. Industry and industrialization need Mechanical

engineers. The Mechanical Engineering Department strives to train the brains and skill the hands" with the aid of well -

qualified and experienced faculty and ultra-modern equipments and laboratories.

It is that branch of engineering which is concerned primarily with the industrial application of mechanics, physics and

material science for analysis, design manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems, production and usage of

heat and mechanical power for the design, production and operations of machine tools. It is a diverse subject that

derives its breadth from the need to design and manufacture everything from small individual parts and devices. The

Department of Mechanical Engineering is concerned with the theory, design, development and application of Heavy

Machines, Engineering Drawing, Fabrication shop and Hydraulic Machines.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is dedicated to the current needs of industry with the flexibility to tune its

programmes according to different requirements. Application of new technology in various fields like renewable energy

sources, power electronics and drives, power quality are the main focuses in the activities of the department in which the

department plays an important role.We have a fine blend of dynamic & experience faculty members who provide quality

education at both PG&UG levels. With BPUT s curriculum, the department places equal emphasis on theoretical &

practical domains of electrical & electronics engineering. The laboratories are highly modernized to reflect the rapidly

changing trends in technology.

Civil Engineering aims to meet the future needs of the construction industry and society by producing professional

civil engineers competent in analyzing, designing and managing solutions for practical engineering problems. It

imparts sound fundamentals at B-Tech Level, specialized subjects, and projects. Teaching learning process is

seamlessly supported by excellent academic support facilities.

The department has expertise in almost entire spectrum of civil engineering, apart from B Tech Degree

programmes specialized in Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Infrastructure Systems. Our

faculty members and students are involved in various research activities in all areas of civil engineering. The

department is also very active in conducting various conferences, workshops, short term courses & seminars etc.

Department of computer science and engineering acts as the nurturing ground for young professionals who can

make their mark and to create a talent pool for various industries. The basic aim of the department is to maintain

excellence in academics as well as research. The students are given an opportunity to obtain sound understanding of

the concepts. Their foundation in Computer science will be such that they would be preferred by the industries and

service sector to meet the global requirements. The department focuses on the study of theoretical foundation of

information and computation and of practical techniques for their implementations and apprentices in computer

science.

Taking into account the speed at which the world is changing, it is increasingly apparent that the right education is

the guiding light that will enable us to retain clarity of thought and vision. The Department of CSE with awareness

and adaptability ingrained in our foundation brings up students academically competent, ethically sensitive and

socially active.

NALANDA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY seeks to foster academic debate in areas with implications for a more equitable and sustainable world. In working towards

fulfilling this aim, the Institute announced a series of lecture events in the academic calendar, titled Boundaries: Eminent Scholar and the Public Sphere lectures. While

the word boundary defines a set of limits, it simultaneously denotes a horizon that goes beyond those limits. At NALANDA, we emphasize on expanding the horizon and

consequently grasping the things that seemed to lie beyond the horizon of disciplinary boundaries. The series aims at presenting seminal talks by the foremost

exponents in their fields, a site from where further departures and disciplinary forays become possible. Boundaries provide a platform where thoughts and actions

coalesce into instruments for change, change that predicates the equitable and sustainable world that we all hope for.

It always began from the scratch, with nothing but an innovative idea and made concoctions for smacking success. All through the year, students

have nurtured a keen interest and have been eagerly participating and actively organizing all kinds of cultural, technical and sporting events. To keep

up the spirit of unity and to instill a sense of pride in our rich cultural heritage, the students celebrate all kinds of festivals with zeal and zest. These

events tap the interactional ability, organizational skills, and confidence of the students. While IQ-based events sharpen the reasoning skills and

decision making ability, sports events develop other distinct abilities.
