CONCORD DELIVERABLE 2.3 ABOUT DELIVERABLE 2.3 Deliverable D2.3 builds on the work performed in Task 2.3, Pre-Standardisation Support. Unlike stipulated in the original DoW, the task Leader is Aalto University, as bilaterally agreed between Aalto and TiViT, the initially thought task leader for this T2.3. (In exchange, TiViT got task leadership in Task 2.4, Security and Privacy.) TiViT is nevertheless expected to contribute to Task 2.3, Pre-Standardisation Support. The CONCORD Description of Work (DoW) stipulates:

This task involves, in collaboration with the Architecture Board, deciding on the guiding principles of the Future Internet Architecture, as relevant in regards to standardization. This task involves the identification of standardization requirements from across the Use Case projects and the platform projects, as well as collaborating with the SA project in order to ensure alignment with the existing and future infrastructures. The standardization task will

emphasize open interfaces where possible. The concrete outcomes of this task includes recommendations towards standardization. D2.3 Pre-Standardisation Support Working Group Establishment and operation of a Working Group dedicated for FI PPP Programme level standardization guidelines and generic approaches towards standardization (M6). Established M6, run for the duration of the programme. …

In line with the scoping of the WG’s mandate and in order to simplify the everyday language, this working group has become commonly known simply as the Standardisation Working Group – a term that shall be employed in the present and other documentation from here on, without regard to the DoW and the name of this deliverable in line with the original DoW.

DESCRIPTION OF DELIVERABLE 2.3 This Deliverable 2.3 consists of: - The present document - The notices of the WG meetings, or synonymously, invitations (as supplemental evidence) - The meeting minutes of the WG meetings (as supplemental evidence)

EVIDENCE FOR DELIVERABLE 2.3 All evidence for the Standardiation Working Group meetings can be found in the Knowledge Centre. Some of the same material can also be found in the intranet on the FI PPP Portal as well as on Wikispaces dedicated to the Steering Board.

STATUS OF THE STANDARDISATION WORKING GROUP AT M12 The Standardisation Working Group proposal prepared by CONCORD/Aalto was approved by the FI PPP Steering Board in its 2/2012 meeting (Meeting Minutes refer). The working group was called up for a rather informal first organising meeting by CONCORD/Aalto on 9 March 2012. The meeting took place in Sophia Antipolis, France, on 16 March 2012 and the meeting minutes are part of the supporting evidence to this Deliverable. The following persons were present physically or via teleconference: • Thierry Nagellen, Orange Labs, FIWARE and INSTANT MOBILITY • Mikko Riepula, Aalto, CONCORD • Hendrik Berndt, DoCoMo, CONCORD (by telephone) • Franck Le Gall, Inno Group, FIA Standardisation WG • Patrick Guillemin, ETSI • Gaby Lenhart, ETSI In its inaugural gathering, the working group decided – in line with the Working Group Description and Proposal document – to avoid overlap with the duties of the Architecture Board in trying to standardise the interfaces known as Generic Enablers. Instead, the Working Group should educate and sensitise all FI PPP

participants to the existence and importance of different processes related to standardisation; as well as to help individual Use Case projects identify their standardisation needs. In the 2nd Use Case meeting in Brussels on March 26th-27th, the standardisation issues were brought up and Use Case projects (UC’s) encouraged to report to the Standardisation Working group on points 1 and 2, and potentially 3 if already identifiable:

1. Existing Standards-Defining Organisations (SDO’s) operating in the UC’s domain. 2. Existing Standards relevant to the UC. 3. Standardisation gaps possibly already recognised.

The Standardisation Working Group will strive to arrange its second meeting in April 2012 and to recruit more members, specifically from the Use Case projects.
