Japan is a country fortunate enough to be seen without particular prejudices by the various

countries and factions around the (Middle East) region

Instead, what we often hear is that people hold Japan in a positive light as a rare example of a non-Western European country that has successfully modernized while maintaining its own traditions.

Lesson sharing (US Army and Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Field

Manual)

“Zen-like Paradoxes of Counterinsurgency”

Sometimes…… - the more you protect your force,

the less secure you may be - the more force is used, the less effective it is - doing nothing is the best way - some of the best weapons for counterinsurgents do not shoot

Prime Minister Taro Aso (UN General Assembly)

Sep. 25th 2008
