    Step 1

Leave the pearl cotton yarnon the spool. Thread theend through a twisted wireneedle. Twisted wireneedles are flexible, and

although the eye looks big,it will collapse down whenpulled through a bead. Usethe needle to string all of the beads you will need for the project.

    Step 2

To help show the techniquemore easily, here we willshow a six-bead rope, witheach bead shown in adifferent color. String the

beads in the sequencedescribed for your project.Keep in mind that when therope is woven, the beadswill be arranged opposite of the way they are strung.Tip: String more beads thanyou think you will need, since it will be impossible toadd more once youvebegun to stitch.

    Step 3

After you finish stringing allthe beads, do NOT cut thethread. You will continue touse thread from the spoolas you crochet. Remove the

twisted wire needle. Leavean 8-12-inch tail, and makea slip knot. In the diagrams, the tail is shown muchshorter than in reality toprevent confusion aboutwhich end is the tail.

    Step 4

Slip the loop onto a crochethook. Tighten the looparound the shaft of thecrochet hook.

    Step 5

Begin by making a chain.Since this is a six beadrope, the chain will be sixbeads long. Slide onepre-strung bead down into

position, near the slip knot, sitting toward the back sideof the crochet hook.

    Step 6

Bring the yarn around thehook from the back to thefront. This operation isreferred to as yarn over.

    Step 7

Catch the yarn with thehook, and pull it through theloop. This completes onechain stitch with a bead.

    Step 8

Slide one pre-strung beaddown into position, near tothe hook, sitting toward theback side of the crochethook.

    Step 9

Yarn over the front of thecrochet hook.

    Step 10
