Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption
Spectrometry (GFAAS) is an established
analytical technique for measuring a large
number of elements at parts per billion
levels. Sample consumption is incredibly
low, with only a few microlitres of sample
injected directly into a graphite cuvette.
Controlled electrical heating of the cuvette
dries the sample and removes the matrix
prior to atomization. Hollow cathode lamps
provide specific elemental light output,
which is directed through the centre of thecuvette to allow measurement during
atomization. High performance optics and
precise monochromator operation ensure
the light path is always perfectly aligned for
analysis.
Dedicated furnace solutions from the
Thermo Scientific iCE 3000 Series Atomic
Absorption Spectrometers are developed to
make the user experience as simple as
possible, without compromising
performance or functionality. The Wizard
driven Thermo Scientific SOLAAR software
guides even the novice user through
optimization, method development and
analysis, while the integrated furnace
autosampler allows fully automated and
unattended operation. A suite of reportingand post-processing options are available to
interrogate results, create customized
reports and export data to external systems.

Dedicated Furnace AtomicAbsorption Spectrometers
Dedicated furnace systems provide an ideal
solution for laboratories requiring parts per
billion detection limits and automated
sample analysis. Furnace systems can be
left to run unattended, while a wide variety
of quality and performance checks can be
programmed into the software to monitor
performance and ensure accuracy of results
over prolonged analysis periods.
The iCE 3000 Series AA Spectrometers
includes two dedicated graphite furnace
atomic absorption systems, for those users
who do not require flame capabilities.
1. The Thermo Scientific iCE 3300GF AAspectrometer is a compact system withDeuterium background correction and anEbert optical system.
2. The Thermo Scientific iCE 3400 AAspectrometer offers both Zeeman andDeuterium background correction with asophisticated Echelle optical system.
Features and Accessories
GFTV provides real time internal vision ofthe graphite cuvette, enabling observationof sample deposition and drying behavior.GFTV is provided as standard to aidmethod development, ensuring repeatableanalysis, time after time.
The integrated furnace autosampler notonly deposits samples with accuracy andprecision, it also prepares multiplestandards from a single master standard, intelligently dilutes over-range samplesand adds matrix modifiers to complex
samples. A dedicated Furnace Validator Package
available, providing InstallationQualification (IQ) and fully automatedOperational Qualification (OQ) for thesystem. (Optional).
Thermo Scientific SOLAARsecurity, is anaddition to the SOLAAR software, enabling permission controls tofunctionality and application of electronicsignatures. This is essential for regulatedlaboratories and those requiring 21 CFRPart 11 compliance. (Optional).
