The Order of Mass
All stand at the sound of the bell to sing the following hymn, during which the procession enters, the coffin is borne to the front of the church and the altar is honoured with incense.
For all the saints who from their labours rest, Who thee by faith before the world confest,
Thy name, O Jesu, be for ever blest: Alleluia, alleluia!
Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might; Thou, Lord, their captain in the well-fought fight; Thou in the darkness drear their one true light:
Alleluia, alleluia!
O may thy soldiers, faithful, true, and bold. Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
And win, with them, the victor's crown of gold! Alleluia, alleluia!
O blest communion, fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; Yet all are one in thee, for all are thine:
Alleluia, alleluia!
And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long, Steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
And hearts are brave again, and arms are strong: Alleluia, alleluia!
The golden evening brightens in the west; Soon, soon to faithful warriors comes their rest;
Sweet is the calm of paradise the blest: Alleluia, alleluia!
But lo, there breaks a yet more glorious day: The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of Glory passes on his way!
Alleluia, alleluia!
From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
Singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost:
Alleluia, alleluia!

All Amen.
Priest Grace and mercy be with you.
All And also with you.
The priest introduces the liturgy and invites us to confess our sins
Lord Jesus, you raise the dead to life in the Spirit:
Lord, have mercy.
All Lord, have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you bring pardon and peace to the broken-hearted:
Christ, have mercy.
All Christ, have mercy.
Lord Jesus, you bring light to those in darkness:
Lord, have mercy.
All Lord, have mercy.
The priest says a prayer of forgiveness
Opening Prayer (remain standing)
Priest Let us pray
Eternal God, our maker and redeemer, grant us with Joan and all the faithful departed the sure benefits of your Son's saving passion and glorious resurrection: that, in the last day, when you gather up all things in Christ, we may with them enjoy the fullness of your promises; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
All Amen.
All sit

The Liturgy of the Word
The Reading Mrs Rebecca Grundy
Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
Reader This is the word of the Lord
All Thanks be to God
The 23rd Psalm (remain seated)
Led by the Jersey Filipino Choir - please join in the chorus
The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want; He makes me lie in pastures green. He leads me by the still, still waters,
His goodness restores my soul.
And I will trust in You alone, And I will trust in You alone,
For Your endless mercy follows me, Your goodness will lead me home.
He guides my ways in righteousness, And He anoints my head with oil, And my cup, it overflows with joy,
I feast on His pure delights.
Chorus
5
And though I walk the darkest path, I will not fear the evil one,
For You are with me, and Your rod and staff Are the comfort I need to know.
Chorus
Gospel Acclamation (stand)
Cantor Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia All Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia Cantor It is my Father’s will, says the Lord, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given to me, and that I should raise it up on the last day. All Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
The Gospel Deacon The Lord be with you. All And also with you. Deacon Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John All Glory to you, O Lord.
Jesus said to the crowd: ‘All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I shall not turn him away; because I have come from heaven, not to do my own will, but to do the will of the one who sent me. Now the will of him who sent me is that I should lose nothing of all that he has given to me, and that I should raise it up on the last day. Yes, it is my Father’s will that whoever sees the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him up on the last day.’ Deacon This is the Gospel of the Lord. All Praise to you, O Christ.
The Homily (sit) Father Nick Barry

The Intercession (kneel or sit) Mr Patrick White
Priest Our Lord Jesus Christ, the shepherd and guardian of our souls, rose triumphant from the grave that we might share eternal life with him. With confidence in his promises, let us now offer our prayers for his servant, Joan, and for all who mourn her.
Following the prayer for the soul of the departed
Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord
And let light perpetual shine upon her.
May she rest in peace. Amen.
Priest God, our shelter and strength, you listen in love to the cry of your people; hear the prayers we offer for our departed sister Joan. Cleanse her of her sins and grant her the fullness of redemption. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Liturgy of the Eucharist
The Peace (stand)
Priest Jesus says: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
All And also with you.
Deacon Let us offer one another a sign of peace.
The Preparation of the Gifts
Gifts of bread and wine are placed on the altar. The Priest will say the prayers of offering quietly during the hymn. Incense will be used, as a symbol of the making holy of the gifts and our lives as we worship together.
At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow,
every tongue confess him King of Glory now;
'tis the Father's pleasure we should call him Lord, who, from the beginning,
was the mighty Word.
7
At his voice creation sprang at once to sight,
all the angel faces, all the hosts of light,
thrones and dominations, stars upon their way, all the heav'nly orders
in their great array.
Humbled for a season, to receive a name
from the lips of sinners unto whom he came, faithfully he bore it, spotless to the last,
brought it back victorious when from death he passed.
Bore it up triumphant, with its human light,
through all ranks of creatures to the central height,
to the throne of Godhead, to the Father's breast, filled it with the glory
of that perfect rest.
All creation, name him, with love as strong as death;
but with awe and wonder, and with bated breath. He is God the Saviour, he is Christ the Lord,
ever to be worshipped, trusted and adored.
In your hearts enthrone him;
there let him subdue all that is not holy, all that is not true;
crown him as your captain in temptation's hour; let his will enfold you in its light and pow'r.
8
Truly, this Lord Jesus shall return again, with his Father's glory,
with his angel train; for all wreaths of empire
meet upon his brow, and our hearts confess him
King of glory now.
Following the hymn, the Priest invites us to join in offering the Eucharist.
Pray, my brothers and sisters, that this our sacrifice may be acceptable to God the almighty Father.
All May the Lord accept this sacrifice at your hands, for the praise and glory of his name; for our good and the good of all his
Church.
The Priest says the Prayer over the Gifts
Lord, we are united in this sacrament by the love of Jesus Christ. Accept these gifts and receive our departed sister, Joan, into the glory of your Son, who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen.
The Eucharistic Prayer (remain standing)
Priest The Lord be with you.
All And also with you.
Priest Lift up your hearts.
All We lift them to the Lord.
Priest Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All It is right to give thanks and praise.
The priest says the Preface for the day, at the end of which we sing
All Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and God of might: heaven and earth, heaven and earth are full of your glory, your pow’r and might. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest heavens. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest heavens.
9
Blessed, blessed is he who comes, blessed, blessed is he who comes; blessed is he, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest heavens. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest heavens.
Remain standing as the Prayer continues
After the Words of Jesus at the Last Supper, the host and chalice are raised and a bell rings to signify his presence in the Eucharist.
Following the elevation of the chalice, the Priest sings
Priest Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:
All Dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come; Lord Jesus, come; Lord Jesus, come in glory. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest heavens.
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest heavens.
The Prayer continues, ending in praise of the Father as the Priest sings
...for ever and ever.
All Amen, amen.
The Lord's Prayer (kneel, sit or stand – as preferred)
The Priest invites us to join in the Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
10
Breaking of the Bread The Priest breaks the consecrated bread and says We break this bread to share in the Body of Christ.
All Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in one bread.
Agnus Dei
All Jesus, source of everlasting life: Jesus, source of reconciling love: hear our prayer, have mercy; hear our prayer, have mercy; give us your peace.
Jesus, by whose suffering we are healed: Jesus, man of sorrows, friend of grief: hear our prayer, have mercy; hear our prayer, have mercy; give us your peace.
Jesus, crucified transcending time: Jesus, Saviour, by whose death we live: hear our prayer, have mercy; hear our prayer, have mercy; give us your peace.
Jesus, Lord of life and Lord of light: Jesus, here in form of bread and wine: hear our prayer, have mercy; hear our prayer, have mercy; give us your peace.
The Priest invites the people to Communion
This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those who are called to his supper.
All Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the word and I shall be healed.
Holy Communion will now be administered, standing at the head of the aisle. Please be guided to the place of Communion by the stewards.
11
The host and chalice are administered with the words;
The body of Christ. Amen The blood of Christ. Amen Practising communicant members of other denominations are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Non-communicants, or any who do not wish to receive, are warmly invited to receive a blessing – please indicate this by standing with your head bowed.
During Holy Communion:
St Luke’s Choir will sing; Give us the wings of faith
Give us the wings of faith to rise within the veil, and see The Saints above,
how great their joys, How bright their glories be.
We ask them whence their victory came, They, with one united breath,
Ascribe the conquest to the Lamb, Their triumph to his death.
They mark’d the footsteps that he trod, His zeal inspir’d their breast;
And, following their incarnate God, They reach’d the promis’d rest.
Isaac Watts / Ernest Bullock
The Jersey Filipino Choir will sing; Paghahandog
This is a prayer about God’s unconditional love, which is the most valuable gift we can receive from Him. He blessed us with our life that we might glorify Him.
Rene San Andres
St Luke’s Choir may sing - The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you.
The Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.
Numbers 6:24 / John Rutter
The congregation will sing
Blest are the pure in heart, for they shall see our God;
the secret of the Lord is theirs,
their soul is Christ's abode.
The Lord, who left the heavens our life and peace to bring,
to dwell in lowliness with men,
their pattern and their King;
Still to the lowly soul he doth himself impart,
and for his dwelling and his throne
chooseth the pure in heart.
Lord, we thy presence seek; may ours this blessing be;
give us a pure and lowly heart,
a temple meet for thee.
13
There will be a period of silence following communion, leading into the
Prayer After Communion (stand)
Priest Let us pray
Lord God, your Son Jesus Christ gave us the sacrament of his body and blood to guide us on our way to your kingdom. May our sister Joan, who shared in the Eucharist, come to the banquet of life that has been prepared for us all.
All Amen.
The Final Commendation
All sing the following hymn, during which the Priest moves to stand at the head of the coffin.
O praise ye the Lord! praise him in the height;
rejoice in his word ye angels of light;
ye heavens adore him by whom ye were made, and worship before him
in brightness arrayed.
O praise ye the Lord! praise him upon earth,
in tuneful accord, ye sons of new birth;
praise him who hath brought you his grace from above,
praise him who hath taught you
to sing of his love.
14
O praise ye the Lord, all things that give sound;
each jubilant chord re-echo around;
loud organs, his glory forth tell in deep tone,
and, sweet harp, the story
of what he hath done.
O praise ye the Lord! thanksgiving and song to him be outpoured
all ages along; for love in creation, for heaven restored,
for grace of salvation,
O praise ye the Lord!
The Priest invites the congregation to pray; all pray in silence.
The Priest commends Joan’s soul to God in prayer.
During the Commendation the coffin is sprinkled with Holy Water (recalling Joan’s entrance into eternal life through baptism) and incensed (honouring her body as a temple of the Holy Spirit and as a sign of the prayers of the saints).
As St Luke’s Choir sings the Nunc Dimittis (Stanford in B flat), the coffin is borne from the church. The procession will pause at the door of the church for the Committal. Please turn to face the door.
