Fundraising ideas There are so many ways you and your family, friends, colleagues or company can make a real impact on the lives of children with half a working heart and help make each family’s journey easier to cope with helping them feel less alone and more informed and ultimately enable the children to live as independent a life as is possible. We want fundraising to be exactly what it should be - fun to raise money for a worthwhile cause. We ensure that our supporters are given all the support they need to make their day memorable, enjoyable and successful. Runs Our annual running events are a fabulous day out for all the family, whether you are running the 5 or 10K or walking the 5K, cheering the runners, having your face painted, watching the childrens races, browsing the second-hand stalls or just sitting back and enjoying the home baked foods, a fun day is had by all and is another chance for many of the families affected by the condition to get together. Check out www.lhm.org.uk for this year’s dates. Seasoned competitive challenger or your first race, whatever the distance you can run, swim, cycle or crawl, we have the right event for you! Have a look at the range of events that are taking place in the UK and overseas and sign up to help children with half a working heart. Skydives Visualise standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph! Then imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens, the steering toggles come down either side of you and you begin a tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air, steering yourself back down to the centre of the drop zone below. Well you can stop imagining because it’s real and you can do it at an airfield near you by reserving a place. Visit our website for more details. Treks Discover the world and yourself whilst raising vital funds for the charity, there are treks of all types and endurance. Imagine conquering Kilimanjaro or Everest Base Camp, following the ancient Inca trail to Machu Picchu or trekking the Great Wall of China. RecyclingWe get a minimum of £1 for every cartridge and up to £30 per phone. All you need to do is email us for some

recycling envelopes. This is a great zero cost fundraising activity that also works very well at school and in

your workplace. It’s all about just making people aware that it is an easy way to raise money with very little

effort. Just email us or call us and we can send you a few bags for yourself, or posters and bags to

display in school, your workplace or social group.

LegacyBy leaving a gift in your will to Little Hearts Matter you could help shape the future and transform the lives

of future generations of children with a single ventricle heart condition. After your family and loved ones have

been taken care of, ask your solicitor for advice, you may find that by including a charity in your will, it is possible to

reduce the amount of inheritance tax your beneficiaries will pay.

You may find a residuary legacy is the most effective way of supporting the charity while ensuring your family and loved

ones are still taken care of. When your estate is distributed, all taxes and debts are paid first. Then pecuniary and

specific legacies are made. Everything left after this is known as the residue of your estate. If you are leaving a legacy

please include our charity number 1123290. Thank you.

In memoriam donationsWhen a loved one dies many people want to make a donation to a charity that made an impact on them. We are always

incredibly touched when we receive in memoriam donations which help us to continue to support families through the

incredibly difficult journey they will need to take. In memoriam donation pages in support of our work can be created

using Virgin Money Giving.

In celebrationMaking a donation to Little Hearts Matter in lieu of wedding, anniversary and birthday gifts is a fantastic way to mark a

very special occasion. If you’re getting married or about to celebrate your anniversary or organise a birthday party, why

not ask friends and family to make a donation to Little Hearts Matter instead of giving a present? By doing this you will

be helping the hundreds of children every year with a life threatening single ventricle heart condition.

Organise your own eventWhether you raise £1 or £100, you really can make a difference. Whatever event you choose to hold from sitting in a

bath of beans to abseiling down your local tall building, your extraordinary support will go to help these extraordinary

youngsters. Visit our website for a full downloadable fundraising pack to get you inspired, crammed with lots of ideas

and tips to help make your event a real success and read about some of the amazing fundraisers that have supported

us.

Showbiz supportDo you know any famous people that would show their support for us, we look for the simplest of requests like a photo

of themselves, through to more involvement with our children and what we do through to being an ambassador that

champions the work we do.

SchoolsChildren and schools are fabulous fundraisers, from putting on a gig, choreographing a fashion show, organising a

games knock out to simply contacting us for our alternative Christmas card and going

green for Christmas, there are lots of fun ways to get involved, get passionate

and get fundraising for children less fortunate than themselves.

Golf daysWith more and more people taking up Golf, charity golf days are a very popular way to raise large amounts of money for your chosen charity whilst having lots of competitive fun.

These are just a fraction of ways to support us, please see our other leaflets for more ideas and tips on how to get started.
